Character we'd most like to party with: Vaas. It's a lock.

This guy is a better villain than villains is most movies

Well, the way the game's lead writer explains the intro makes it seem like he knows where Jeff and Vinny are coming from.

Yeah, the writer seems in on it. Also, they seem to be influenced by Hitchcock and social psychology according to this interview.

And seem to be doing a lot of what Spec Ops The Line accomplished with tackling player agency and violence in games. Don't know if they'll succeed as well, but glad writers are addressing this in this medium.

"Far Cry 3 is about go have fun and let's see how you feel at the end of it." Ooooh

I just realized that this game's setting is around South East Asian Malay countries. From the word Rakyat (people), Selemat tengah hari (good day), laba-laba (spider), etc.

The pronunciation are weird, but still pretty exciting to see game sets in place where I can somewhat relate to.

Yeah, I find it super weird but neat too because Indonesian is my native language. Dennis being a foreigner kinda explains his accent. It seems like the location is based on the Rook Island in Papua New Guinea.

@MrCandleguy said:

Weird, they speak maori in this game... Kia ora means Hello!

Didn't know Rook Island was an actual thing and that there are multiple languages at work here, cool info!

This game looks amazing. The PC version definitely looks like the one to get. And get this I shall! Even though I'm disappointed that you didn't punch any sharks, this Quick Look was really fun to watch.

I don't think they need to have a specific ending to "justify" or address how those kids are douches in the start of the game; just the fact that most of them die seems good enough. I feel like they are hoping for story beats that are not needed.

Posted by Manos

Farcry 2 was garbage and this one just looks ok but everything I've seen of this bad guy, Vaas or whatever is fucking amazing. So I am mixed, I want more of this character but not of this game.

Maybe in like a year I'll look back into this game.

Jesus, that intro is fucking amazing.

I've never really been sold for an FPS, not even Halo to be frank. But this I want to play! The frame rate's killing me a little. I'm going home for winter break and don't always have access to a good PC... so I may have to settle for the console version.

I don't really see this as racist. Am I missing anything? Granted the game's not gonna get all of Southeast Asia down pat, it's at least trying to create an interesting, playable atmosphere. Is it a matter of the pirates being non-white?

It's a matter of people on the internet needing something to cry about.

I don't share Jeff's apparent disgust for the people in that intro, not to the extent that I would wish what happened to them, or worse, upon them anyway.

The game looks interesting and good, which I've thought for a while, but I haven't really been personally interested in playing it before this. I'm still not interested enough to jump aboard right now, but I'll definetly will take a closer look at the PC version somewhere down the line. Probably next year.

I'm sure he wasn't being serious.

Now, me, a minority, am being fully sincere when I say, "YEAH, GET FUCKED, WHITEY! THIS IS WHAT STANDING ON THE BACKS OF SLAVES HAS BROUGHT, CRACKER ASS MO' FUCKERS!"

But no seriously fuck people like that. Intro is hilarious though.

I didn't get that feeling.

If you don't see that these people are douchebags, chances are you might be one??? I mean, really? Fuck those people.

Right.

Fuck you.

that thumbnail image tells me all I need to know about this game.

Man, console versions REALLY fucking suck this year, huh? Oh well, only one more year to go.

Posted by paulunga

Did that syringe really say "GLHB"?

Posted by Balex1908

I really hope Vinny`s ending is true, but if it was, the internet would have exploded by now.

Posted by Bell_End

Its out tomorrow in the UK... think im going to play it before i watch this.

Posted by Clonedzero

i think GB needs to come up with another name for "Quick looks" that are over an hour long. don't get me wrong, i have no problem with the long quick looks, i rather enjoy them from time to time. its just, they're not very quick...

ya feel me?

Posted by JoelTGM

okay I have to buy this. I'll be getting the PC version, and it's only $50 woo

I think the difference is there are people that are like "hey, let's get together for a party" or "Lets go parachuting this weekend" to the kind of people that would do the same thing except say "WOOOOOOOO" and laugh hysterically at every stupid thing said the entire time.

Though I'd imagine Jeff WOULD actually act like that, but in a completely sarcastic way making fun of the kind of people that did that.

"Go get that car and drive it into a shark!" My new goal in life.

Posted by ZmillA

I feel like this game would be better on a harder difficulty. You want the predator animals to really feel dangerous.

Posted by Baal_Sagoth

This does look pretty good. I'll also have to agree that antagonist creep bro is pretty damn awesome, the kind of bad guy you always look forward to see being a piece of shit yet again as the next story chunk comes along it would seem.

I'm really vary of Ubisoft's exceptionally shitty PC tradition though. That moronic "Always On" DRM is gone as far as I understand but the Uplay bullshit is still pretty bad. Can one actually turn all those messages off like the Steam overlay? Steam at least is minimalist, nice and black but seeing this nonsense pop up, entirely out of place, just really destroys any atmosphere that has been built up. I'm okay with the game tracking that sort of stuff but I really don't need to know in the middle of playing. Also Farcry 2 wasn't my cup of tea either but somehow this one still seems very interesting and at least it doesn't have any plot ties to the other games as far as I can tell so I might still give this a shot. I think I'm going to wait for some more in-depth word on the story arc though because that might push me over the edge if it turns out nice and insane instead of really dumb.

Normal as in common? Sure. Normal as in not repugnant bro-douches? No.

I'm 100% with Jeff on this. These are the kinds of people I avoid at all times, as a fellow young adult.

@JoelTGM: You get a 30% discount if you buy it from greenmangaming. At least outside the U.S. Might be worth checking out!

I am now sold on this game after this quick look. I tried to get into Far Car 2 on four separate occasion's and I just couldn't do it. I will be looking to pick this game up in the new year for sure. Also, maybe it's just me but the fact that your dude's last name is Brody is just.....augh. It's intentional I bet but man that is one hell of a bro last name.

Posted by GunsAreDrawn

I think too many people are basing their opinion of the intro alone. Everything after that seemed basic and just like stuff from the last game. I am unsure about this game, I don't want another game like Far Cry 2 or Sleeping Dogs where its filled with crap and has a mediocre storyline.

Look like an always online DRM to me.

They've specifically said that Far Cry 3 has no DRM.Just like some sign in once thing and that's it

In his defense, Ubisoft has basically outright lied about their DRM in the past.

Exactly, and not being able to play the game, because servers are down? They did the same stuff with AC2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction.

So you can't play it if you're not online?(On PC) That's weird, a friend of mine was playing it and the servers were apparantly down (maintenance, I think) but he was having fun with it on Steam. (It's out now on Steam here, at least)

You can play it offline, the PC Gamer review says so.

I shouldn't write comments that late in the day anymore. I forgot the game is not even out yet. But yeah, that pop-up message every time Brad went into menus bothered me.

@Clonedzero: Given this particular game, perhaps we can call them EXTREME Quick Looks. Or even XTREME Quick Looks.

Wishing death on these bro-douches seems a little much, but then.. it's a video game. I've never actually met a real life dude-bro though.

Sold.

Released on Steam here in Denmark last night - been having a really good time with it so far :) It's basically the child of FarCry2 and Just Cause 2 - not as serious as I'd like, but still enjoyable and the wildlife and skinning really adds to the experiance..

Coming from someone who was ambivalent about Far Cry and hated Far Cry 2, I was hoping this game was going to be good. Between this and the reviews I've been reading I am really looking forward to finally getting my hands on this when Tuesday rolls around.
