ENGER-LAND! ENGER-LAND!

Posted by altairre

This is actually not a port of FIFA 13 but a shittier version of FIFA 12 and they're asking full price for it. It's pretty messed up. Fun quicklook so far nonetheless.

looks like you guys got thrown off by the shoot button on fifa being different to the one on pro evo

I can now be an expert socc- football player. Thanks, guys.

Man I'm not even the biggest football fan, yes it's called football and not soccer, but calling it soccerball even got me a bit annoyed. In other words good job on the video description, it worked as intended. :D

Ok, am I the only one who will actually commend them for trying some stuff with the touch screen here? I mean, there were pages of features using the touch screen and while they may not all be awesome, it is the first time trying. I can see now why they are using last year's game, it's because they actually put time in to trying stuff with the screen.

What the hell is a soccer? some murrican food?

Though FIFA is World's record breaking most popular best selling sports game in history. But not THAT IT matters....

Posted by flip2000b

It is play and maths, not plays and math! COME ON!

Posted by Penzilneck

I was looking forward to seeing whether they bothered to add snow outside the stadium, which they never seem to do in the NFL games. Shame.

dude they don't even play the american sports games properly.

If this doesn't end with a group make out session, I'll be disappointed.

Guys, that wasn't a load at the end. There was an option to go to the main menu...

Do Americans have any right to tell English people how to speak or write English? On the surface, it seems quite preposterous.

I say this as a neutral party.

Edited by dcgc

It's "Arsenal have the ball" because Arsenal is a team of players (plural). Also, English comes from England, so English is properly spoken there. Too bad this football quick look video was more tedious than the previous one, but that's because FIFA is a more competent game than PES and it has less goofy stuff happening. Nonetheless, I had a few laughs so thanks.

Diego Armando Caravella and Zinedine Gerstmann, your football experts!

Edit: Wait, did they turn off off-sides? Why was that a goal? That was an off-side.

Edited by mekon

So which sounds right?

They has the ball - Arsenal has the ball

They have the ball - Arsenal have the ball (also consider inclusion of fans and management team)

Sorry but I vote for the second, although a team is singular (in itself but plural in meaning).

Actually it's called Association Football. Soccer is short for that but you can call it Football, Soccer or Association Football. All are perfectly valid names.

Edited by MjHealy

As an Arsenal fan, this is a dream come true. Though Jeff pronouncing Santi Cazorla's name made my skin crawl.

Also it's "Arsenal have the ball" since the team is a group of players. As someone who watches football on the regular, "has" would just sound weird.

Man, I want another vinny endurance run. :(

How dare the English use the language they invented in the incorrect way. Bloody Americans

Edited by piderman

Buncha hillbillies playing football. This gun' be good.

Posted by AlisterCat

Really? You're going to criticise British English? I suppose it's only fair. My skin crawls at the american english I hear daily. I can see how it's annoying the other way around... but still, this isn't an American game.

Posted by MocBucket62

First off, why were Jeff and Vinny trying to do the FSU Seminole War-chant for a soccer game? Its an American football chant! And two, that was the most soulless War-chant I've ever heard!

This is how you do it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_vpfblTqng

With the kidding aside, this game still doesn't convince me to get a WIi U.

FInally! FIFA 13 on Giantbomb...a dream comes true

Edited by Bourbon_Warrior

@Jeff Should of done the Skill Games, it's a tutorial that teaches you how to play via mini games. Pretty fun.

And when you held the LT down you use the right stick to do tricks. Appreciate the quicklooks of all these sports games lately and Jeff really seemed to start getting the hang of it towards the end, plus at corners press x(360) button to cross the ball and a THROUGH BALL is like a pass that goes infront of the player so you can aim it infront of them so they can break though the defense easier not that you will probably play it again till FIFA 14 but thought I'd give some tips.

Also this versions framerate is terrible compared to Xbox\PS3

Just looking at all the ports out for the Wii U so far, all got bad framerate so far. I could be proved wrong but I don't see it happening. Wii was the same but that was more in line it being the power of a PS2\Xbox, this is a system apparently better than the 360\PS3 and every port has been pretty bad from what I have seen.

@heat: So you like looking at people's hurt butts. I don't think you should advertise that. (only joking)

No dreams coming true for us Arsenal fans at the moment...

Posted by bhlaab

Isn't the point of the touch screen to make the game easier and more intuitive for newcomers to play? It seems like they did the opposite of that.

Look at all these silly Brits get their panties in a bunch. So entertaining.

24:37 lmao!

Edited by Coldman

Surely a group can assume both singular and plural form, so "Arsenal has the ball" and "Arsenal have the ball" are both correct, really.

That said, in a battle of grammar between football commentators and Jeff Gerstmann (and myself, I guess), it's not a given who will come out on top.

English English is the shit, dawg.

Oh, and I won't be buying FIFA13 because my beloved Aston Villa will be awful on it. :(
