Damn, I think that is the first time a Forza game has been seen as interesting to me

Posted by Velirno

These devs have worked some sort of black magic to get such a good balance between framerate and overall looks.

*openworld driving game. Does doughnuts to dubstep*

Dat opening.

People always think America is such a free country. They don't know the meaning of free.

Not until you can take a $100,000 car and dirt it up in the open wild with dubstep playing can you consider yourself a free man who doesn't give a f**k about nuthin'.

Ferraris on golf courses.

The driving in this looks more NFS Hot Pursuit than Burnout Paradise, which just isn't my bag at all. Definitely prefer the more arcade-y, light driving feel of Paradise over the really kinda bulky, heavy feel of Hot Pursuit, and from the way Jeff was sliding kinda all the time it looks to be more the latter.

I'm sure both of those games and this one are quite precise once you get good at them, but if I'm getting frustrated with sliding around everywhere when trying to move left or right even a little, it just isn't fun.

All the other features, though, look pretty incredible.

The Forza games are way too simmy for me and I assumed Horizon would be more of the same so this is a pleasant surprise.

Posted by AngelN7

So this is like an open world DiRT 2? it sure looks like it.

The menu and UI design looks Codemasters as fuck.

I was thinking the same thing. The font and colors scream Dirt 2.

Who gives away a ferrari f40?

Edited by sear

Is it just me or does that world look pretty small and a bit simplistic? Doesn't look like there are a ton of turns etc. and you could probably cross the whole world in 10 minutes or less. Burnout Paradise had the same problem, after two hours you had seen most of the game already and it got very boring beyond that point.

The Quick Look wherein Brad and Jeff ruin an F40 ;)

WHERE THE HELL ARE THE BIG 3 AT?. NO LOVE FOR AMERICAN MUSCLE WTF I:-(

Posted by FuzzYLemoN

Perhaps one of the greatest QL intros in history.

Brad seemed pretty ignorant in this quick look. He was so dismissive without even knowing anything about the game. Which I find particularly confusing because frankly I didn't know anything about it before this video either.

Posted by SkullcrusherMountain

@CTS_1987: Even in digital form, they couldn't get any of the cars to run for more than 5 minutes.

Dismissive? He said it looked awesome, and indicated he was probably going to buy and play it.

At no point was the amount of cars mentioned. Why? A game branded Forza is assumed to include close to every car released in Forza 4 to date, it is one of THE selling point.

The fear is that the season pass will be for content already available in Forza 4 for the most part, it's one thing to pay for licensing fees, but to pay for cars being carried over.

If we are getting screwed, GiantBomb is the place I expect to be informed about it. A good place to start would be to mention the number of cars. But then you drop the ball when you think Forza's DLCs are good value at more than 0.50$ per car. Is every DLC weighted against Street Fighter's costumes in this industry? Am I the only one who remember the 20$ expansion packs era? StarCraft BroodWar selling at 20$, the price Microsoft sells 30 Porsches, almost all of which are copy-pasted from Forza 3, which doesn't seem to bother Brad.

Is value forever weighted against what things cost 10 years ago? For starters, because of currency inflation, "$20" isn't even $20 any more. For lots of people, 50 cents per car is pretty clearly an acceptable value to them.

And as always, if something seems like a poor value, then don't buy it. Wait and see what DLC comes out for the game, before committing to a season pass.

I suspect if the game had an odd lack of cars out of the box, Jeff would have mentioned it.

Zero interest in this game, but I immediately bought some songs after watching this quick look.

Posted by LobotomyKing

last time i played burnout paradise there was definitely a restart race option

Posted by BlazeHedgehog

Screw Need for Speed Most Wanted. Urban street racers are old hat! This is the racing game I want. I need it in my bones.

Posted by HerbieBug

Looks good. Will pick up at a discount early next year. :)

Posted by RoyaleWifCheese

All I could hear toward the end was Rock & Roll Queen by the Subways despite it being muffled and in the background.

That song is infectious.

Jeff and Brad's dismay at the Enemy Territory Quake car is hilarious.

wait jeff mentioned something about tokyo xtreme racerness in this game. was he talking shit or what?

Posted by rethla

Looks great. Get it over to PC or PS3 and im in.

Wait, somebody actually drew Green Lantern and the Master Chief with the Xbox controller? Like, MS paint style? And it looks that good? Is there a video of somebody actually doing this? Cause that is bonafide insane.

The beginning of this really made me miss the Giant Bomb Trackmania 2 server.

Game prices have remained steady since then, regardless of inflation. So yeah, value can and should be weighted against comparably priced offers.

Giant Bomb doesn't shy away from calling bs on the industry's tricks, but when Jeff and Brad spoke about the season pass, they glanced over it really fast, to my surprise. That conversation should at least start with assessing the car library, at least.

Let's just hope the season pass is for added content, not held-ons from Forza 4. But this industry ultimately always end up feeding on the good faith we give them.

PS3 is never going to happen, as I'm sure you are aware. PC, eh, possible, but an extremely long shot I'd gather. Also, there are better racers on PC to begin with, maybe not open world style but, hey to each his own.

I'm surprised Microsoft have never made an effort to get the Forza games to PC, since there's a sizable racing sim community on the PC that might buy it.

@rethla: I'd love to see a Gran Turismo spin off in this style.

In general they don't seem to have the same love of open world in Japan though.

Yeah. The open worldy and gamy style of Horizon combined with the refined car physics of Forza/GranTurismo aint a combination you see very often and i really think its a winning concept.

If you play the game with all assists on like in this QL there are plenty of games like this out there but if you play it "hardcore" this one is pretty unique.

The landscapes are purdy in Forza Horizon.

Posted by HKZ

Watching someone play a racing game from an external view makes me seasick. I can't play any racing game from that perspective due to racing experience, but seeing it from the outside when someone else is playing gives me a headache.

Game looks pretty decent. Looks like T10 made a decent open world game until the next Xbox comes out and they further the series.

The soundtrack in this game is all I need

Posted by Tsuchikage

That poor F40. What have you done to it? ;(

Microsoft really needed to market this game better. I understand that Halo 4 is also releasing soon and is the company's main focus for the holiday, but I had almost no sense of what Forza Horizon is before watching this video.

Posted by SSully

Man one of the few times i wished I had a 360. Cool looking game.

Posted by zodstein

Best Opening Ever LOL

Posted by Spekingur

Man, this has things from so many games combined into one in a good way.

If anyone is really digging the music in the game I would suggest checking out the channels UKF Drum & Bass and UKF Dubstep on youtube.

Same here. I remember when it was announced and no one knew what it was - just the name. Everyone kind of figured it was an arcade-y version of Forza, and then there was near complete radio silence until now.

Burying a game (intentionally or not) should be a crime when the game is actually fantastic. Here's hoping the press ramps up considerably around the actual release date.

Spent about $30 last night downloading tracks from this game's soundtrack on iTunes. It's fantastic.

Posted by SatelliteOfLove

The music is humongously badly written in this game.

Posted by coaxmetal

I'd probably get it if it came to PC but it won't

Posted by coaxmetal

Also, the PC version at least of Burnout Paradise definitely did have a quick restart last event function.

Posted by ripelivejam

makes me miss Test Drive Unlimited, wish there were still people playing that.

i wish games like these didnt feature such terrible music . its the only thing keeping me from being stoked

Just recently got an xbox, don't have any games on it yet. gonna buy this, this kind of music I don't find to bad in it's context, and it seems to make sense with the theme of this game. but can't you play custom music instead of the soundtrack on xbox games?

Posted by CtrlAltDft

There was a quick restart for Burnout Paradise so you didn't have to drive back to the event starting line. I didn't buy the game at launch but the function was there when I bought it.

Posted by jmic75

Burnout, Need for Speed and Forza seem to be slowly becoming the same games.
