I like this game overall, but some of the UI parts make me really angry. Like when you mean to click on another character but are slightly off so the currently selected one walks over and loses his turn which costs you the level and you have to restart from the beginning. It really needs an undo (as long as you haven't shot) command.

Into this halfway home.

oh how Early Access has changed our view on PC releases

Halfway there? Livin' on a prayer?

Space Ether One?

This game is really fun. Radish, use the number keys to select your characters - you'll avoid that problem.

Man, Vinny keeps using retaliate when there are guys right in front of Linda making her take terrible shots at people far away T_T

Game looks neat though.

Morse code says.

N-E-X-T (stop) S-T-A-R-B-O-U-N-D (stop) U-P-D-A-T-E (stop) C-O-M-I-N-G (stop) T-W-O-T-H-O-U-S-A-N-D (stop) A-N-D (stop) E-I-G-H-T-E-E-N (stop)

Haha! Really? While that is funny, Chucklefish really do needs to step it up on Starbound. Playing it early and then coming back a lot later to find that pretty much nothing had changed was...Well, more than a disappointment considering how long that hypetrain had been rolling.

If only this game weren't complete, then the title of this video would be "Unfinished: Halfway", and that sounds much more appropriate.

Looks ..-. pretty ..--.-.. fun -.--

Not gonna lie, this beeping noise is driving me insane.

Posted by cooljammer00

Oh! Samuel! Sam-Mule! Mule!

I just got that!

Posted by Rotnac

This looks fantastic. My only gripe with it is learning that there is no perma-death, which is one of the big things that makes any sort of tension in games like these.

Posted by TehPickle

Those are like totally chevrons.

Hearing morse code is the most common symptom of space dementia.

This makes me want to play XCOM: EU again.

I straight up can't watch this video, it drills holes in my skull.

Posted by CroppyJamal

thank goodness i only heard that beeping at the end when i had to turn my TV up

Edited by Jonny_Anonymous

Man I really love the Vinny/Alex dynamic these days

Posted by hustlerlt

This game looks pretty good, but that beeping... Just because of that I never want to play this game.

At first glance, it's easy to mistake this game for Dungeon of the Endless.

Yes indeed!

A chevron is the upside down V shape and it commonly refers to the chevrons on military uniforms. I believe the bottom part is called a rocker but don't quote me on that!

Posted by SgtSphynx

@vinny At the end of the quicklook, Morten says something along the lines of "I agree with Carter." SO it seems that, yes, the C in Linda's name stands for Carter.

Posted by red720

Looks awesome, downloading from steam right now. Love the low-res pixel stuff with real time lighting.

Posted by PatMacPatsteen

It's a shame Vinny always comes in a package-deal with Alex now :( I miss watching content with Vinny in it but I just can't bring myself to watch more than 5 minutes of stuff with Alex in it. He shines in the field of writing and should focus on that rather than being in quick looks, Just a personal preference thing.

Posted by drew327

Looks pretty cool, but man the hit% is so low. The last enemy is completely in the open, and you are pretty close to him, but 41%?

Posted by Luck702

Listening to Alex reevaluate his entire life after learning what a chevron actually is was just delightful.

@hero_swe: they've actually been blogging about their work and putting up new Starbound builds every day for a while now, you just have to opt into the "nightly beta" on Steam. It's super unstable though.

This game seems very basic as far as tactical games go.

Posted by Skytylz

Definitely going to pick this up at some point. Too much on my plate right now, but looks cool!

Edited by MikaelBoogart

Oh cool! Great timing on this. Just this afternoon i was thinking I want to play some tactical strategy rpg games and went ahead and downloaded Disgaea 1 and 2 on PSN (i missed these at the time). And now here is this. And it looks right up my alley.

Also, on a sci fi video game note; one book I would like a video game to borrow (steal) ideas from is Gateway by Frederick Pohl. Gateway is a fantastic book and the most unique approach to a space travel-centric plot I've ever read. It's really simple premise:

humanity finds old alien space ship. the ship takes them (automatically) to an old alien space station. old alien space station has a bunch of the same ships inside it. most are functional. but here's the deal; humanity doesn't know where those ships will take them. and the destinations cannot be set in any way that is understood. you punch in some numbers, the ship takes you somewhere, and it will take you back. and that's it. humanity can't figure out how the ships work and they don't know how to specify destinations other than punching in a string of random numbers. when people go out on these ships, sometimes they find valuables at the destination and come back rich. sometimes they come back dead. sometimes they don't come back. and sometimes they come back empty handed. Cool and exciting shit ensues.

make a video kinda like that. i don't know how but do it. go. :D

I can't tell if Alex was serious when he said "Nice shootin' Tex" which makes me hate and love him more at the same time.

Yeah that is the double-edged sword. I don't want to have to go through the whole starting out from scratch over and over again, considering how freaking slow the start is with the matter manipulator and what not. I bet it is still as slow as the early alpha.

I must say I love the Giant Bomb New York coverage. I like the fact you pick smaller games I have not heard about before. Please keep up the good work, and stay healthy.

"Not Early Access, this is a real game"

It really has. Super sad that they have mention right off the bat that this is NOT an Early Access title.

Posted by radioactivez0r

I was just thinking the other day how I'd like a tactical turn based combat game minus all the base building stuff. This looks...perfect? Never would have heard of it otherwise, thanks GB.

Alex' chevron moment was great.

Posted by PoisonJam7

"In this episode, Alex learns what a Chevron is. His life will never be the same."

That should have been the video description.

Posted by Ozzie

This kinda looks awesome

Posted by vucubcaquix

This looks rad as hell!

Question, though: what are the odds that this would get controller/gamepad support? With a little creative design, we see that strategy games can work well with a gamepad like X-COM. I'd like to play this on my couch with my plasma tv.
