I played the demo and found I was missing a lot more notes than I should have been. The timing on it is really weird.

Posted by Orange_Pork

Finished this game yesterday. Love it. But I want to say the timing is about one tenth of a second behind where it should be.

I've never heard of this game.

Patrick and Jeff, paired up like a fine wine with Brie.

Would have liked to see the boss fight.

Edited by selbie

I guess it really struck a chord with them.

Played the demo to death and high scores can get really competitive with the charged attacks. Getting the timing for the background stuff (drums, cymbals and triangle) is pretty tough as well especially with the jumps.

Do want

Definitely getting a BIT.TRIP Runner vibe off this. Not aesthetically, of course.

Patrick Klepeks AIN'T GOT NO RHYTHM!!

All these puns are really hitting a sour note for me.

This looks neat. I really need to get a 3DS sooner or later so I can try out all these cool-looking games ^_^

I haven't bought this yet. I have a huge backlog of 3DS titles (retail and eShop). It looks awesome, but I'll be waiting until I clear some of my other games first.

Edited by SparkleMotion

Patrick calls it expensive, but it's the same price as Bit.Trip Runner 2

Edited by gouldgonewild

I really don't think the timing is behind. I think a lot of games give you a bit more of a window in front of the beat. This game is not into that. If you want a game that demands you stick right to the beat, and doesn't care if you aren't having fun because of that, then this game might be for you.

that vocalized jump hit stuff from those dog sections really reminded me of the crocodile boss from the original sly cooper. just in the same way she made noises as she did her stuff, and then you repeated them as it happened. this game looks super rad though.

Don't let Patrick fool you: You can hit those cymbals and triangles in the background with proper timing and Michael Jackson (or Space Michael) plays a bigger role in Space Channel 5: Part 2 than he does in the first one.

I KNEW Patrick would make this QL with Jeff and make him excited about it. It's going to end up in his top 10 of 2013. Mark my words.

Looks cool! :)

Always cool to see Jeff really excited about something!

maybe will try this one

It's definitely a well-polished, fun, and creative game, but even after finishing it, I still felt like the $15 price tag was too steep. It felt on the light side, unless there's stuff I haven't found (though I don't think there is).

But it certainly is good.

Edited by GasparNolasco

It's like a perfect middle point between Bit Trip and Rhythm Heaven, it seems.

Edited by MEATBALL

I like it, but here is waaay too much story/talking. I just want to play the next level.

Edited by GasparNolasco

You found a bird! And the bird counter goes "Birds = 1".

regarding the timing : i haven't played this but a lot of people complaining about it being a bit behind the beat isn't really surprising because its really common (way more common than dragging) for people to rush, even if they aren't aware of it. patrick is still rushing a little bit but getting them. maybe this game just has a smaller window.

My souls dies a little more every time Patrick walks past a high hat/triangle without hitting it. YOU CAN HIT THOSE! Even Jeff figured out you can hit those and he wasn't even playing.

This is stupid. Like a mario game or sumthn...Also it should be called Golfarythm.

What?

Patrick calls it expensive, but it's the same price as Bit.Trip Runner 2

It's all about the precedent set on the console. The price seems high because not many 3DS eShop games are fifteen bucks. Runner 2 is on PSN, XBLA, Steam, and WiiU, where the normal price of a game is fifteen.

Didn't care for brutal nature of Bit.Trip Runner, but this on the other hand, actually looks like fun.

This seems neat but I've never been a fan of the runner style rhythm games. The demo didn't really do much for me.

Posted by Rox360

I just realized how much I love the image they used for the preview here. It looks exactly like an ad or altered box art from a really good platformer out of the '80s... except better drawn than those used to be. Why isn't box art ever interesting anymore?

Edited by MjHealy

Saw this on the eShop.

Yep...that's all I got to say.

I played the demo of this and enjoyed it somewhat.

Learning that it's a pure downloadable for 15 bucks makes me more interested than I would have been otherwise, but without having a particularly large SD card atm and taking into consideration the way purchases are tied to a system, I'm always hesistant to buy anything digitally on the 3DS.

Posted by cannonballBAM

@patrickklepek First there was Tokyo Crash Mobs and now HarmoKnight. You are becoming my feed for great eShop games.

Posted by PollySMPS

I like the idea, tried the demo and it was decently fun, but I really couldn't shake the feeling that timing on the background items like cymbals and triangles just wasn't on time. I've been a drummer for 21 years and I'd like to think I have some kinda decent sense of rhythm with being able to jump and hit them, but even when I nailed it, it didn't feel like it was me being on rhythm, I was just paying attention to the visuals, which sorta goes against why I like these kinds of games.

Could be wrong though. I'm certainly not onboard with the $15 pricetag.

Edited by sl1ppyfist

This looks great but $15 is a deal breaker for me.

Posted by blueinferno

Patrick not hitting the cymbals was driving me INSANE!!! Great quicklook, though. I need to buy this when I get the chance.

Posted by Sinkwater

@blueinferno: He tried, it doesn't look like you can hit them.

Edited by Orange_Pork

@sinkwater: His timing was off. You have to hit them on the beat or else you'll miss. You get notes out of them.

I'm almost positive that you can hit those cymbals.
