Grunge: The Game?

Edited by hi_im_rob

Wish I had the time and money to get a PS4. This looks dope.

I kept expecting Brad to do his "hhehehehehe" laugh everytime Jeff said Smoke Powers.

Yeah i noticed this as well. I guess the DUP isn't well known outside of Ireland and the UK

It's the world's greatest looking C-grade PS2 game.

The AI seems pretty damn dumb. Looks really good, though.

Glad to finally see some next gen games that actually look it.

Also digging the Seattle thing, but that's because I'm a son of the NW.

I'm just not feeling a THIRD inFamous. Like, it looks solid, looks fun, but I just don't think I'll be able to invest myself in to it again.

The Dead Sara Nirvana cover is great. I guess it's cool to hate on women singing Nirvana though...

Or Jeff just didn't like it?

Posted by decko5

Hmm, kind of glad I didn't pick this up on the way home from work.

Dammit, work day. Why won't you end???

This feels fresh enough for me, since I haven't played any inFamous games in the past. Also that 5 minute recap of previous events was enough to get me caught up with the premise.

Posted by SomeJerk

Yeaaaah I'm probably going to get it and 100% it just because of the graphics, this or an import of Ishin.

Edited by Terjay

More like C.U.P.

Edited by kishinfoulux

It's more Infamous, which isn't a good thing. Everything about those games...man. The characters, the awful "choices" you make, and the powers was always super lame.

Sick burn, dawg!

@cooljammer00: Sessler mentioned in his review(?) of the game that there was an embargo up until today on showing later parts of the game. Probably because they didn't want late game powers spoiled that early or some dumb shit like that. So there's your reason.

Did you say unlockable jacket graphics?!

Edited by JimiPeppr

I'm glad this also looks like a fun game because I want to play it for the animation and particle effects alone.

Edited by Aegon
I'll probably get this game eventually.

Posted by Milkman

Man, the writing in this game seems not good!

Looks fun though, I'll play it.

Edited by ZeroCrescent

Haha, this game's anti-government message is so hilarious. Jeff totally had it right when he said Delsin was one step away from saying "wake up sheeple."

So the final boss of Second Son 2 will be:

The 'neon' powers are really pretty. As someone who really loved the first two games, this looks like more of the same, which is fine. Not enough to make me get a PS4 yet, but I'm sure I'll love this when I do pick one up in a year or two.

Edited by shinjin977

Surprised jeff likes it but good to know.

Posted by Ravelle

Man, Those 90's Neon powers look sick.

This doesn't look like Seattle at all.

That's the beautiful thing about games and opinions. More Infamous is a great thing for me. :)

Do you only get Smoke and Neon powers or do you unlock other elements later on? Seems like a waste if Delsin can absorb any power but only has access to two. Maybe they're saving some for DLC, it would cool if you could absorb Lightning power and be like Cole.

I've got a bad ass PC so a console purchase is still not making sense for me quite yet but it's for sure gonna be a PS4 when it does happen, this game looks cool.

Edited by Demoskinos

Looking forward to playing this once it hits PS+

After playing Saint Row 4, this looks boring and bland. The nuclear drop from the sky in SR4 makes Seccon Son bomb move looks like a regular ability.

Edited by Fitzgerald

Don't move to Seattle. The god damn city council just killed UberX and Lyft. Socio-fascist city government sucks balls.

Posted by tildebees

drug dealers aren't bad people in seattle immersion lost

Edited by Abendlaender

This game looks amazing but they really messed up the audiowork. Is Seattle supposed to be a ghost town? Cause it sure sounded like it

Edited by LarryDavis

@haze: Did you know there are also several things with the acronym IRA?!?!? Crazy, right?!

Also this game is great. But I liked the last two Infamouses a lot (the second moreso) so maybe I'm just a smark.

Posted by ez123

Such an annoying way to tell people that they're low on health.

Edited by Curious_George

The game really does look good in a technical/realism sense, although maybe it's just me but I find myself a lot more excited by great art styles than great graphics nowadays. No Man's Sky, Rime, Hyper Light Drifter, and other stuff like that seem so much more visually interesting than a lot of the technically superior "next-gen" games so far.

I really hope this generation more AAA developers use the computing power at their disposal to create new and interesting worlds for us to explore rather than just more good looking copies of our own.

Posted by RockyRaccoon37

If I had a PS4 I'd totally be into a new Infamous game having only played the first one when it came out and really enjoying it. I'll echo the chorus of disappointment that the game really doesn't look like it's changed much at all since the first, and that the choices are still so painfully reductive-- BUT MAN LOOK AT DEM GRAPHICS.

Seriously though, it still looks like a fun open world game to mess around in.

And while reductive representations of complex political issues aren't necessarily my bag, it's also pretty clear cut that a totalitarian police state is indefensible (except by crazies) and easy to prop up as a villain of a story.

Neon powers, what?

Posted by freakin9

The only thing that wowed me was the enemy's powers. Maybe in real life this game is more impressive visually. There's something about the main character's powers and how he frittered about the city that just felt like the same ol' Infamous. Though I get it's still the early days of this generation. And, it's a open world game.

Posted by Rocospi

Ah, I see Infamous is still a game that plays like it was designed for kids. Everything from the superpower analogue for guns to the binary karmic states reeks of a "T" rating.

There was a glimpse of a third at the very beginning of the Quick Look. The one with the digital looking wings and jumping off of satellite dishes. I think there are four altogether, but there's an embargo around showing the other two because they think it's a spoiler or some such nonsense.

Posted by Draxyle

I'm really sad no one has made Troy Baker say "get bent" in any game following Persona 4, though I've not actually played this yet so who knows!

Edited by Zevvion

I never enjoyed inFamous that much. Always felt like a less fun, less over the top Prototype to me. I might check this out though. It looks very good visually.

Edited by Beb

Would love to pick this up with a PS4 if they hadn't raised the prices in Canada recently. /Gripe

Edited by gbrading

First actual properly amazing-looking game I've seen out of the new consoles. Also like Seattle as a setting; basically ripping off the film Chronicle. In all honesty, I've never been more interested in an InFamous game.

I agree.

I would get this just to look at it, though. It's good looking in that tingly way that you get with new hardware, where you notice things you hadn't seen before.

I also feel like I should point out that, even though I agree with you (and man, a next gen Prototype would be great), this one plays way better than the previous too.

Posted by Truckalicious

Man, that idle animation at the start is like looking in a mirror. Minus the beanie

Posted by Adaptor

The game looks fantastic but the actual gameplay seems to lack a lot of depth. Lots of little things to do but seemingly very few interesting systems or mechanics that feed into eachother. A big, beautiful world like this seems like a bit of a waste without some interesting emergent gameplay.

Edited by HerbieBug

I don't understand why this series is incapable of having an appealing protagonist.

I don't want to play as some random shmuck who volunteers at the bicycle co-op on his off days from community college + super powers because this is a video game.
