Seriously!?

Also, there were metroids in the original Kid Icarus.

A saturday quicklook? Interesting.

this looks pretty fun

They totally shot a metroid at the beginning there, right?

Posted by recent_conduce

If this is still 29.99 at Best Buy I might bite.

It would be worth it.

I don't own a 3DS, but I'm going to buy this game solely for the fantastic stand accessory. It's so versatile!

STRAP IT ON... your wings of feathers

Posted by plague102

I never played a lot of Kid Icarus but were there always Metroids in this? (8:39 in the video)

Difficulty has to set higher for him to go through the 4-heart door.

Don't hold me to this since I was never a big fan of the series, but I'm fairly certain Metroids were an enemy in the original game, yeah.

When brad says a game is easy it means hes playing on easy

edit:YES drew i still have that thumb strap from my original ds

Edited by TentPole

Brad's ignorance of basic game mechanics is distressing. Though to be fair this game is pretty dense.

Posted by paulunga

I do like the humour in this game even though the voice-acting itself is terrible.

Posted by JamesJeux007

This looks really good actually. Was not expecting that. Might check it out :')

Still waiting for Best Buy to send my copy.

Huh what happened to the ore club?

always remember kids, "reading is for suckers"

Full voice on a 3DS cart and yet Zelda (not including Link as that would be weird) continues to have none.

Posted by EmoMcGee

The controls seem really awkward. Dunno how you're supposed to successfully dodge attacks persistently...?

Posted by DrStrangepork

Can you use the Track IR for this?

Most reviews have said that there's a learning curve, but it works well when you get used to it.

Love Vinny's Persona 4 reference, the soul still burns for that game

Posted by alibson

Brad is horrible at Tetris

Posted by I_smell

Is Kid Icarus voiced by the same voice as Spike from My Little Pony?

Posted by Hector

It actually looks like a good game.

This game looks very good but Brad's probably right about the control, it seems very messy.

Posted by JoeyRavn

It's probably due to me watching someone playing the game, not me actually playing the game, but I have seriously no fucking clue of what's happening on screen right now.

"Brad: I wish people could see the position" yes God forbid any actual editing goes into these videos - Drew needs a 27 inch monitor and Final Cut so he can drag and drop two video files and an audio commentary before mashing the big red render button.

Love you guys, but seriously sometimes I wish you put just a tad more effort into these. How much time would it have taken to record 30 seconds showing Brad playing the game and splicing it into the Quicklook, if in fact thats such a big deal.

The "lanyard" he was describing totally exists. Except it was a wrist strap, not a lanyard. And the thumb touch-screen thing was awesome.

@Humanity: They totally did that for the Resident Evil 3DS game one, where they showed off the 2nd Circle Pad. It's beyond me how they didn't think to do the exact same thing for this...

Posted by I_smell

The part where you play it looks really messy, but all the stuff in-between looks GREAT! Fusing weapons, puttin all your eggs in one basket, Tetris equips, that's all real cool.

Posted by prestonhedges

"This game is full of weird self-aware references..."

You say "weird" and I say "this game would be tedious as shit if it didn't have that."

Wow. Actually, take a shot every time they say "weird" in this Quick Look. You'll die of alcohol poisoning. It's a video game, guys. They were invented a long time ago.

Posted by Jolt92

@Humanity: @Chavtheworld: May it be because they have just moved into a new office and don't have much of the equipment needed yet? It may be that.

Or they just didn't think of it.

Posted by Melos

I'm glad if Kid Icarus fans get a game they enjoy, but honestly, with the poor controls, obnoxious pandering dialogue, garish weapons and monsters, and kitchen sink approach to extra content, this game just seems like a mess to me.

That's a lot of venom. I can't really say I disagree though. The stand and control scheme has received more attention than the game itself. GB even did an unboxing video for the stand, yet they choose not to show it in use.

Distressing, really? Is it really distressing you? You know, what? On second thought having read a lot of the comments to this video, it wouldn't surprise me if this video is legitimately distressing quite to a lot of the posters here, which is... sad.

Posted by BenderUnit22

This looks like a bitch to control.

Posted by Slumberpunch

This looks awful.

Posted by 1p

Damn, the HAL connection is so incredibly apparent in the menus and weird systems.

Posted by bhhawks78

Looks AWFUL.

On top of that would have to be one of the greatest games of all time for me to play a portable game on a fucking stand.

If it's not portable on a portable system you already have failed and should have made it for your console.

Posted by Skillface

Is it just me or are these comments like 10x more asshole-ish and uncalled for than usual?

Posted by clydesdale4437

I still have the finger stylus that was mentioned in the video! It's now tethered to my 3ds. I'll have to see how it plays with this.

Posted by Rox360

I'm confused... Is the 3DS that much more uncomfortable than the original DS? Because that system had plenty of d-pad + touchscreen games, starting with Metroid Prime: Hunters, which was totally not a bad controlling game. I had a ton of fun with it at the time, and I was convinced there was a future for first person shooters on the DS... I did cramp up after an hour or two of playing, but that's a long time to be spending on a handheld game anyway, and that had more to do with the position of the buttons and d-pad and less to do with the weight of the system. A stand would have done nothing to change that.

Anyone care to shed some light on the situation? Why was this plausible on the DS and not on the 3DS?

Posted by TwoLines

Looks pretty cool... Confusing though.

I feel like GB has reached that point where people don't congratulate them anymore for doing great stuff, but they expect it.

oOoOo Metroids you say?
