Who's there?

Love the art style!

I don't recommend people watch too much of this QL if they haven't played the game, since much of the enjoyment of Knock-Knock is going in blind and experiencing it yourself.

Cargo! was the game you thought of when seeing a horror game from them? Not Pathologic or The Void?

Edited by Tennmuerti

Don't read the below if you don't want to know some of the mechanics (discovering them yourself is a large part of the games appeal):

  • When enemies touch you, you get set back a bunch of time.
  • You loose all the time you have to start the stage again.
  • You finish a stage when you wake up (time gets full).
  • There is no need to light all the rooms, but it helps to have hiding spots and to find time forward thingies.
  • When it pans to another room and breaks your light it means the enemy spawned in there.

They start introducing more stuff as you go and there is still things i'm unsure about. You also start piecing together a bit of story.

Playing it alone at night has been interesting.

@kdr_11k: I doubt neither has played those games, and Cargo is a good referance point for GB users, since that QL is pretty legendary around these parts.

It's fine because Brad and Vinny understand nothing about the game in this Quick look anyway.

Ice Pick Lodge? But....oh no! OH NO!

Or rather: YESYESYES!

I guess, but only the most basic stuff. Don't feel this QL really spoils much of anything.

WARNING: This video shows the game.

I know, right? Who could imagine that?

Been playing this, quite the stressful game. Especially when you can't see the ghoulies and have to use the "wait" mechanic or zooming out the map to catch a glimpse of their locations.

I would love to see Drew and Vinnie play The Void.

So the entire game is based on the player not knowing the mechanics and, then, having to discover the mechanics in order to beat the game? Sounds pretty stupid.

I have no idea what this game is doing... but I kinda like it.

Entire game? No one said that.

It's just a large part of the appeal. Just like say the feeling of discovery and learning in Souls games can be for a lot of people.

Also one of the basic human fears is the fear of the unknown, and the lack of knowledge is an interesting fear to play on. Many games do this.

you just described the appeal of most of the games I like.

Oh you, ha. These people can't read, and understand a Quick Look is just a glimpse as if we were going into it cold. It's been that way since the first QL. Kids these days.

Seriously though, think looks pretty awesome. Love the art style.

Games As Art

Posted by gbrading

Creepy game. I'm unsurprised the guys who did Cargo would go on to do something like this.

Posted by Vuud

Don't even need to watch this quicklook. As soon as I saw Ice Pick Lodge I know everything about this game.

Posted by ildon

I don't understand what's going on in this game at all.

Edited by Bombzinski

LOL @ Brad accidentally guessing an important theme in the game.

Yeah but how can we convince them? Patrick might try that but he's no longer able to rope the others in...

Posted by MooseyMcMan

Well, this seems like madness.

Posted by RetroVirus

Oh my God, these are the Cargo! guys!!! I never thought they would actually make another game!

Posted by HyperionXR

I too would love to see a Giantbomb play-through of The Void. What a great game.

Posted by maccaibre

I'm pretty disappointed that people seem to associate Ice Pick Lodge with Cargo! rather than Pathologic or The Void. I also feel people should give these guys more credit. Sure, their games are buggy and poorly translated, but you have to consider that Ice Pick Lodge is like five Russian dudes.

Edited by Ravelle

I really don't like the voice of that dude but I enjoy the rest of it.

Cool and slightly creepy art style. That being said I feel like I didn't learn anything about the game. So the goal is to light up rooms to reveal stuff/furniture in the rooms which you can hide behind when the monsters come right? But sometimes you still get caught even though you was hiding?

Also to progress in the game you have to survive 12 hours in game time I presume? But what triggers the monsters?

Yeah I know it's a lot of questions but I'm rather baffled by this madness.

BEST VIDEOGSME CHARACTER EVER.

When that guy talks it reminds me of Proffessor E. Gadd from Luigi's Mansion.

I had to stop watching this Quick Look... not because I don't want to spoil anything, but because, well, yeah I guess it was because I didn't want to spoil anything... including my pants.

Posted by GiantAlston

That voice, scares the shit out of me.

Posted by BluPotato

Ice Pick Lodge games always seem to be the sort where they explain nothing and half the challenge is to figure out what the fuck is going on. I really liked The Void even if I never cracked it's code, but I did get the feeling that everything the game was telling you was a lie.

Posted by PoisonJam7

Very strange, but it looks really cool. The art style kind of reminds me of Don't Starve.

What the fuck did I just watch?

I loved Cargo! The Quest For Gravity so I think I'll check this out.

This. Get Dave back for that too.

Really enjoy the creepy feel & look to the game but definitely looks like one where you have to remove the mystery of figuring out what to do with some kind of guide as it appears things aren't really explained all that well to the player. (could be wrong but will definitely grab this game in the future as it seems as odd an experience as Cargo).
