"The Spanish sequel to the Disney classic, Mulan"

This looks like a bad Spelunky.

I don't know why I never realized this game was a Metroidvania, I always assumed it was more... linear puzzles. Very interested now... looks great.

It's the other way around, people. La Mulana existed long before Spelunky. Spelunky's original description was La Mulana Meets Nethack.

p.s. fuck those birds

Any vague hope of an Endurance run? To be honest I don't feel like playing this myself after just getting through Cave Story but watching others do it would be rather fun. Either way I'll get to it eventually, looks great.

I've always hated the Metroid style of enemy respawns.

Awesome 4G reception in the ruins. Should have a fat La-Verizon logo on that subscreen. :)

@DarkbeatDK: I know right? It's all balderdash from people who don't study history.

Advice for anyone giving it a try: scan everything, always and forever.

Welcome to Giant Bomb! The catchphrase you're looking for is: Always Be Scanning. ;)

First?

If your comment contain the word "first" you don't get the quest.

It's also hilarious when they change their comment after the fact to look less ridiculous

@Clark: You could always try the free version Jeff mentioned in the QL. It wont have upgraded graphics or whatever but if price is what's holding you back it's an option.

Nobody's shared the trailer vid yet, so I feel like I'm performing a public service. Let it build to 0:45 first. ;)

Hopefully this and UnEpic make it to Steam sometime in the future.

Looks fun although these days I need a few more clues. Random poking with constantly respawning enemies looks like it could really get tiring.

This is the game that fez reminded me of when I first played it. Anyone who liked the mind-fucks of fez will enjoy this! and it looks like this new version has made some of the puzzles a little less obtuse so it should be even better!

The music reminds me Golden Sun.

I LOVE THIS MUSIC!

Posted by Loafsmooch

This game is fucking awesome!!! Especially if you're looking for a challenge and tense oldschool midi music.

Hats... for bats. Keep bats warm. Gracias.

Posted by Eaxis

The music is so god damn good. Also the game seems like my kind of game.

After diving in too much into the pc version of Spelunky, still think I like the personality of that game better. This doesn't look that bad just doesn't have that manic feel to the exploration to it but liking the laptop idea with odd gear you might find. Hats for bats needs to be in a game somewhere.

Ok, this game is amazing. The guide video is hilarious, and it comes with a pdf of an old-school NES manual, complete with broken English. I think I'm in love!

That music is SO good. Really hope this comes to Steam sometime.

This game is bat shit crazy getting further into it, I mean it CRAZY! It's a great game and it's pretty long to.

Everyone seems to love the music....... O_o

"In the vein of Spelunky"...

Really? I'd say it's almost the exact same game. Maybe with a little The Adventure Game thrown in.

I'm sure it's not quite the same, but at first glance it is.

Spelunky?

I love watching people play this game for the first time. They have no idea how tricky this game can get.

Posted by bigscottie

Im not sure about the previous versions of this game, but this version is unstable and buggy. It continues to lock up on me while saving and sometimes when I am using the inventory menu. Do not buy!

@bigscottie: runs fine for me .. hmnn

The screen scroll style they chose turns me right off. That used to be a way to save system resources. I didn't think of it as a charming quirk back in the 80's and don't think it's charming now. :/

Cool music though.

heres the original game , as you can see it was made to look, play , and function like a msx game , the laptop system was instead a switchable msx system with a bunch of msx game cartridges as the apps. Still love the original, but the new version is pretty cool too.

I played through the whole game without issue myself, but I did hear that some versions of Windows caused saving issues that were fixed by running it in compatibility mode. I don't remember which mode though, sorry.

E: I'm on Vista for what it's worth.

I prefer the more spritely graphics of the original, much like with the recent overhaul of Spelunky.

No it's actually heavily inspired by Knightmare II: Maze of galious

I like the music but I wish it had a few low tempo songs. Something to go with the puzzle solving element instead of always on adventure time music

That music is HELLA Castlevania. Pretty rad.

The games are almost nothing alike. This is a 20+ hour open-ended metroidvania game with 16+ levels, dozens of bosses and minibosses, and filled with crazy puzzles harder and more numerous than almost any game out there. Spelunky is a roguelike action game that has no save function, puzzles, or plot, focuses on replayability over single-game depth, and has a runtime of an hour or so if you can make it to the bottom.

But sure, they both are 2D, have guys with whips, and are hard. I like Spelunky, but it's like comparing an addicting well-designed flash game to an actual deep full-fledged game. People ignoring this as a "bad Spelunky" are missing out. Not the least because it originally came out well before Spelunky.

Never heard of this game before. Looks pretty fun!

This game looks really cool. If only it were on Steam or GOG.
