Something tells me nothing will, but you want everyone to know your opinion anyway.

Lumines is awesome!

My psp was a bed side lumines machine for several years. I was unaware of a pc version. I will get that to fill my need.

That sound that the game makes when moving through menus sounds EXACTLY like a sound from Dead Space 2. It just jumped out at me.

Dude, I can just keep watching him play indefinitely.

No need to get so defensive there

The very first game I got on PSP and most likely be for the Vita as well. Unless P4G comes out by the time I get a Vita.

I cant wait to play this!

My first PSP game, and while maybe not the best thing out on the Vita right now (Just because of how heavy the launch was) it's still just a great game

The soundtrack for this game is somewhere close to astounding! A great mix of great music, though it could use more Genki Rockets, as could most things...

That pre-shoot manicure Jeff got totally paid off.

I used to always have to continue games on PSP on Lumines due to games lasting so long. There is a basic principle that just clicks once you "get it," and you can practically go forever. Love this game. So much money of mine is going to Sony for these Vita games. So fun.

Bought it off PSN, just waiting for my Vita so I can sync it.

This game is pure sex.

Shit, this looks AWESOME. I was hooked on Lumines on the PSP, but wasn't planning on picking this up at launch. Plans have changed! This will now be my first full size game download, so it never ever has to leave my Vita. Ever.

Want. NOW.

I still have a sealed copy of the psp version of Lumines. Loving the background pulsating in time with the rhythm

I remember the biggest problem with Lumines on XBLA being that it got DLC'd to hell. I can't remember the specifics but I wanna say that you only got 2 or 3 songs and a single game mode in the standard package.

but it was priced accordingly.

What is the trick Patrick brings up when he says that it breaks the game?

Actually it came with 12. Not great by any stretch but considering they're charging 800 for it now you could do a lot worse. Throw in the Advanced pack (the first set of DLC skins) and you've got 32 skins, almost as many as in the original PSP game, for 1200 points.

two things

1: the XBLA version of lumines is my one and only experience with the series and I loved it. I was overjoyed when those DLC packs came out.

2: what is the "trick" that "ruins" lumines? single color clears....?

So this is the new Lumines machine.

That happens to me when I hear the door closing sound in movies that's from the Goldeneye N64 game. There is also a horse sound in Age of Empires II: Age of Kings that I hear in movies too.

Was playing this last night and got right back into that lumines "zen" that Patrick was talking about... this game is SO good. The playlist is he best I've heard in a lumines game so far, a wide variety and some great picks, I even unlocked an Aphex Twin skin!!!

It's a pretty basic trick. Patrick says it breaks the game, I say it opens the game up. Once you learn to spot it, you see it everywhere.

And colour me surprised we had a 10 minute quick look of Lumines and no Heavenly Star sighting.

That's not really a "trick", it's more the correct way to play the game.

On a side note, I hadn't played Lumines in years so I just thought I'd have a quick game of the original in order to convince myself that there wasn't much to it and that I really didn't need to buy a Vita for it, and I ended up playing it for an hour and twenty-four minutes in a single sitting. And now I have to buy a fucking Vita.

The music is so soothing.

it looks like the psvita has been disappointing so far

There's a couple other block combinations to keep an eye out for, but the one tip that really changed the game for me is to try and alternate the colors you're targeting during the wipes, preferably by building big chunks. You have to play a bit faster and sloppier, but you'll be setting off chain reactions after each wipe that will fix mistakes. Watching YouTube videos of people that have mastered that technique is really humbling, it's not easy to keep up.

Picked up a Vita this weekend and of all the launch games, this is now the one I've settled into as my go to on the system. Expected as much, it's Lumines, and a damn good version of it at that.

@heavyplay: I was really worried when he mentioned that trick, but if that's what he meant, what a relief. I came across that pretty quickly on my own. Can't imagine playing without it. I thought there was some other kind of trick that could break the game or something. NOPE.

You had the exact opposite reaction to this video as me.
