I have to hand it to this game--that was a bitchin car chase. I actually was on the literal edge of my seat.

Edited by audioBusting

That car chase was exciting, but wow the other levels are boring. I actually fell asleep.

edit: I just noticed a "RyanDNotorious" in the multiplayer match. No relations to Giant Bomb's own notorious Ryan D(avis)?

You know, I think we all understand that linear modern military shooters are overdone. I don't need every observation about this game to end with "but it's a shooter so who cares?" They made the game already, it's a military shooter, so let's just see if it's a good one or a bad one and let anyone who is still interested be interested.

Me, I thought the demo of this at E3 was one of the most boring things at the show, but since playing the first Medal of Honor campaign and having a decent time, I'm probably going to try it out. I'm sure it will be fully generic, but if I let a generic premise get in the way of fun gameplay, I wouldn't have liked Dishonored.

Fuck you. Man Now I want pizza. Damn you Giant Bomb!

Still waiting for the same sarcastic, attitude comments when doing the same old Nintendo quick looks.

Posted by Tsuchikage

The rebooted Medal of Honor's campaign was unique and realistic; Warfighter's is a boring and uninspired Call of Duty ripoff. The multiplayer looks okay, but it's not enough to save this game. Bottom line; buy Battlefield 3 Premium Edition instead.

Posted by me3639

@JasonR86: I totally agree. How could you not be excited after that driving sequence? Well, i guess they could all open up their 3ds and nerd pass.

Posted by JasonR86

@me3639 Yeah! Good one! Bring that guy down a few pegs that jerk!

Brad really doesn't seem to be focused on this game, he's not paying attention.

And Patrick did seem very salty towards this game. I understand if a game isn't your cup of tea, and a quick look can be fun even if a game isn't up to par but this just felt negative in all aspects.

Usually love every quick look I watch but this one, this one really rubbed me the wrong way.

Also pizza!

Drew did it too! Looks like the pizzas just weren't cut very well.

I feel like brad was playing with his sensitivity too high: every time he moved his reticle to a new guy, he'd go way too far past him.

Edited by smiddy

Watching Brad play is so frustrating.

EDIT: 30 minutes in and it's just bitch, bitch, moan. I can't be the only one who get's really tired of this attitude. From the start of this video they were ready to pounce at everything this game does and criticise it for doing so. I'm not even going to try and make an in-depth case for the game. We know what it is, they know what it is. On top of that it actually looks to be a very well made modern military shooter.

The fact they there are others out there (and let's be honest, there's not that many of them) doesn't make it a bad game, but I guess the fact that it's not Call of Duty and doesn't have Jeff jumping up and down to play it, means that everyone else gets to point out everything it (and the entire genre) does and ridicule it.

Yeah, don't know why he didn't just turn it down ..

Game looks cool enough.. Not really that bothered about these FPS games now.

Lol you can tell these guys have never played a real military game, like Arma. "Dont have to adjust for bullet drop" Hes like 100m from the target, the drop is minimal, fyi i am before the 230m shot, i am betting he wont hit due this underestimating.

Brad seems smart enough, the bullet lines on the scope should be enough, the m24 effective range is 800m, there is 8 numbers, i mean even i knew they was 100m for each and im a fucking dumbass.

Love Vinny and Dave's taste in music XD

Couldn't make it through this QL. Started off legendary with the pizzas and Party Hard and then it was just Brad paying 0% attention to on-screen indicators and Ryan and Patrick shitting all over the game.

I'll fully acknowledge that the game looked bland and same-ish, I don't even want to play it myself, but the attitude and way they approached it was just terrible.

Posted by MordeaniisChaos

@Hungry: It's still a video game. I never said it claimed or wanted to be a simulator. But, very little of the systems in the game felt like they took away from that. Yes, health regenerates. It's a modern first person shooter. That's how it is. It's not going for the ArmA thing. But, a hell of a lot of the stuff in that game nails the "realism" or perhaps more accurately "authenticity" side of things.

Also keep in mind that at that level, operatives are trained to shoot for the head. Incentivizing the player to get headshots doesn't seem like a bad thing, the system actually seemed kinda neat. I usually go for headshots in breach scenarios anyway.

Basically, this gets the stuff ArmA gets wrong, right, from the looks of it, but the things ArmA gets right, this gets wrong. Not that it's bad, it's just a different kind of game. You should know what they are going for with this game by now. I'm a little weary of people saying "BUT REGENERATING HEALTH" as the counter-argument. It's not a black and white world. It's possible to chase a certain level and flavor of authenticity. It still has to be a video game at the end of the day, so compromises will ultimately be made.

What the hell happened to the comments on videos recently? It's like full on YouTube levels of derp and trolling in here lately.

Maybe the negativity in the QL is something to do with the game they were looking at? Just a thought...

I really couldn't care at all about MoH, but 90 minutes of pure negativity is not appealing.

BTW. that bomb in the train is about that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_Madrid_train_bombings

Edited by Baal_Sagoth

Well, not bad but not too exciting either. If BF3 was a synthesis of BF2 and Modern Warfare MoH is yet another step towards CoD. Since the SP campaign is never worth it in any of these games for me personally, especially at the initial asking price, and I'd rather dive back into BF3's MP with its seemingly larger scope Warfighter has little unique to offer unfortunately.

But that's more me being ready for a true next step in gaming's representation of war. Not only with a few tonal adjustments but with fundamentally different gameplay trying to reach a wholly new audience and not the same old FPS fanatics. I'd love for FPS games to go all the way back to the totally arbitrary, unrealistic roots of Doom, Blood, Quake and Unreal and for the rest of action games with narrative ambitions to move past the limiting genre shackles. That'll probably take a good long while if it happens at all in the foreseeable future.

Edit: Also, the gimmick of contrasting intense war action with the soldier's private life isn't half bad. I personally feel World in Conflict did that earlier and better when they spiced up the loading screen of levels with letters, phone calls etc. of the soldiers and their families. There's potential in that narrative device I think.

I can't help but noticed that Brad doesn't know how to read mildots on a scope.

Posted by Kyodra

I thought the driving sequence was actually pretty amazing, and I'm not even into driving games. The shooting seemed dull by comparison, even with explosions and collapsing buidlings. There's just been too many games like this in the past few years.

Posted by Rmack

I say this as someone with no interest in playing this game: Patrick is the embodiment of the "indy games are cooler than big budget games" nerd stereotype. Jesus.

Look for his review of the heartwarming retro-style platformer Flash game based on Haiti that he found on Reddit later this week.

But that doesn't really justify them being so aggressively negative just about every aspect of the game. Okay, we get it, the game is not so great and boring, but they don't have to be so obnoxious about it. Another thought...

Certainly wearing it's COD heart on its sleeve.

Looks pretty bland to me. Can't wait for the riveting sequel; Medal of Honor: Gunshooter.

Watch out for ex-wife's grenades

These are the only good things to come out of this QL. What a boring ass game.

I love Brad and all, but he kinda sucks at this game :S

@MordeaniisChaos:

Um what? What part of the gameplay nails the authenticity of anything here that all of the other modern shooters don't? I know a couple people in the military and I will be use to ask them how many headshots they need to get before they decide to use a crowbar to breach a door. I will also ask how many bullets they will just shrug off without seemingly dropping their pace or performance over the course of a 30 minute patrol. I am not saying this is a travesty or anything, just that the marketing is even more PR bullshit than it sounded when it first came out. I'm not asking it to be ArmA or anything either, just that it tries to be a little honest about itself.

Really, I am all for games trying to go for realism and I understand the need to make it a game, but they could have found a better solution than just being lazy and going with the same mechanics all of the modern shooters we have today that we all know don't go for any sort of realism at all.

LOL at the idea that the patch is why press didn't get it.

Press didn't get it because it's a mediocre game at best and they wanted to delay shit reviews.

wow, the negative douchey attitude from both the community and the staff was really gross in this. especially patrick who was basically just there to constantly bitch and nitpick.

wtf man. i get the game is pretty bland and generic, but do you need an hour and 40 minutes to have a bitchfest about it?

"omg, its somewhat like call of duty lets all jump on the hate bandwagon!!!!"

Posted by SecondHeartbeat

Sorry guys, but I watched too much of this last night as it is.

Posted by CraftySkills

does anyone else cringe when someone just changes the brightness like that? I mean i'm half joking but some scenes are dark for a reason and you should just play the game the way the designers and artists intended.

I dunno. If a game deserves criticism, then I don't have a problem with it being criticized. Why should Giant Bomb hold back? There are plenty of websites that refuse to be harsh on games they preview.

its not that it doesnt deserve criticism, it does, im not disagreeing about it.

but an HOUR AND 40 MINUTE BITCHFEST is not the way to do it. this quick look coulda been 30 minutes and still been more than enough, but instead they drag it out and nitpick and bitch about it constantly. it was gross to sit through, only reason i watched it was cus i was curious if patrick could act like a critic instead of a video game snob.

Dude, no one is forcing you to watch the whole video.

I enjoyed the whole video despite the game being horribly bland and stupidly scripted.
