Sweet! QLs!

I really like this game. I hope they're not TOO put off by the graphics.

Posted by MassiveDuck

i love quick looks of games i never heard of

Posted by Citizengamer

I've been looking forward to this -- Mount & Blade is strangely addictive despite the graphics.

Posted by Vinchenzo

Levio would be proud.

GOD DAMN IT!!!

I love the original Mount and Blade. I still play it from time to time. Let's see if I should invest in the expansion!

Dave brings the greatest games to these quick looks.

Posted by MrKlorox

Damnit Dave. This game sounds extremely neat. I am glad GB has somebody like you on the staff ready to show off the more overlooked, but really unique PC games.

I didn't realize there was only one Mount and Blade before this expansion (I assumed it was an older series). I'll definitely be looking forward to Mount and Blade 2.

I might pick this up during a Steam sale.

This game looks really bad, but the physics-based system seem cool

How the fuck is that horse still moving. 3 arrows sticking out of your leg must hurt like a bitch!

EDIT": How is that dude still alive with a HUGE FUCKING LANCE in his back!? I actually love this game ;)

Posted by Inquisitor

this game is so cool... operation flashpoint gone medieval, hahaha... if only it were for the 360 =D

YES FINALLY!!

Far too much of a distance between QL's featuring Dave!

this game looks really interesting. I hope they get some revenue and make their next game with better graphics. I am also interested in the latter part of the game where you have your own castles and such.
Anyway GOOD QUICK LOOK :D

You'll notice that there is a separate health bar for your horse than from your character. Once your horse dies, you have to huff it on foot until you buy a new one. Horses come in various types, from speedy to decked out in armor. Say what you want about the graphics, it's a fairly deep, but still accessible game.

I got this game last weekend and played 5 hours straight. The multiplayer is so fun! It's the multiplayer Warhammer Online should have had (but I don't know how it'd translate to an MMO).

150 is max size without mods i believe

Best quicklook in a while.

In my personal experience... the games that have vision, even if it's started by a one man or a small team with the passion to drive it. Turns out to be profoundly playable and addictive games.  It seems to have a soul in them that sometimes the big budget blockbuster games seriously lack.
Even if it didn't have a big budget games like Deadly premonition, Cave story, and bob's game and stuffs like that... I mean I really respect the will to follow through on their vision and not put out when so many people are trying to copy the "big" thing or the money maker and try to build everything around it.

If you have can envision the game in your head... and you feel like it's the greatest thing ever or that you need to make this game... and when you do make it and it's close to it. Other people will be able to feel it's greatness too. Profoundly.

More BIG COMPANIES NEED TO FUND PEOPLE WITH GREAT IDEAS! not just cliche games and shooters that make money. GET HYPE!

Just imagine if games like these or games that had a lot of aspirations and that are seriously DEEP had a BIG ASS BUDGET. That game would be phenomenal.

Yesterday I played M&B for the first time ever, and fell in love with it, and I said "Damn, I wish GB would do a quicklook!" My 360 bricked on the day olf the Reach BETA after I spent 80+ bones on ODST for me and a mate, and I got in a huge fight with the fam, and I have the worst allergies, but suddenly all of that seems so insignificant! woot!

Posted by Scooper

I love these types of games. Doing something unique. The graphics don't matter in a game like this.

Posted by adoggz

I tried to get into mount and blade, but i couldn't. it was too hardcore.

Posted by thefreed
@adoggz: Yeah games like these you need to invest some time before you get to seriously enjoy it and see what it has to offer.
Just spend a little time in it and you'll be addicted to it for weeks.

Why does he say attributes like that lol.

I think you mean Age of Conan. Warhammer Online was more DAOC or WoW-style.

Lances are a lot easier to use if you use couched damage because while the aiming might be a bit harder you can do insane amounts of damage.
And this is definitely a game that you just start playing some sunday morning and then all of a sudden it's tuesday night.

Basically, once you get enough renown, you can talk to a lord and ask to become a member of that faction. You can also raise your approval with that Lord by doing quests so you won't need as much renown. Then that faction's enemies are your enemies and you get starting property from them. The only thing is once you take over any new property, it isn't automatically yours. The King gets to decide who to give it to. However, if you have enough persuasion skill, you can try to convince other lords to support giving the property to you. Also, there is that quick battle option on the main menu to try out the different types of battles.

Yes! So looking forward to this since they talked about it on the podcast.

lol i loved the original mount and blade the mod community is great the starwars one is greeat ima get this too
PS dave you can leave your spear alone and it will tuck it under your shoulder and u can just run thru ppl

Posted by GilbertMordinAndSullivan

Watching this quick look makes me want to dive back in to Demon's Souls.

Posted by Horace

Use more couched lancing!  And axes!  Once you get a nice big two handed axe you can just run in swinging and kill a guy with every swing.

Posted by jos1ah

Listen to them try to lure me in by comparing this to Morrowind and Demon's Souls.  ...Must. not. buy.

Posted by ThatFrood

This makes me so happy.

Posted by Food

the empire comparison isn't really right.  It's more like sid meier's pirates.

Posted by SlasherMan

I remember trying out the demo for the first M&B last year, but for some reason, it just didn't capture me.

I'm seriously considering Warband though now that I've watched this QL. I'll definitely pick it up if it goes on sale.

I have'nt bought Warband yet because of finals but the horse having a health bar is probably my favorite chaange. In the original every time you went after a guy you had no idea if your horse was going to make it and I mean in M&B losing your horse basically meant you died.
Posted by aztecjester

I own this game and love it! if you dont own it: BUY IT! it's definitely worth the 30 bucks!

Posted by CharlesSurge

Great Quick Look, Dave! It was very funny and informed me about a game I wasn't aware of. GO DAVE!

Posted by buckybit

curse you, Dave, again, for making me want to play this. I have no time for awesome games! Must buy now...

Posted by Soap

This game looks bizzarely entertaining... I may have to pick this up o.O

Posted by Henrikhoe

ilove how dave gets the big giant spear in the back at the cave quest.

lol

Posted by Jimbo

It's like Pirates! in a lot of ways, and Pirates! was awesome.

Any word on whether they've improved the sieges in Warband?  In M&B, the sieges amounted to one big plank propped up against the side of a castle, with your whole army trying to get up the plank and the enemy army stood at the top.  They were terrible.  I enjoyed the rest of M&B, but the sieges were enough to make me stop playing.

the javelin in the spine is one of the funniest things i've seen in a QL lmao. glad they liked it.
Posted by LoneRiver

I love the original M&B so I'm glad they're QLing this.

@jmrwacko:  One of the reasons I stopped playing Warhammer Online was because its combat system was too WoW-y. Never tried AoC.
