i'm with vinny. i've always wanted to try out a phantasy star game, especially the third one with the card battles, but i never really had enough extra cash to justify going out and getting one. and it seems like the series is now fading into mediocrity. i mean the entire time i watched this quicklook i was torn between thinking it looks horrible and thinking it looks like fun. hopefully the DS version turns out awesome.

Tried the demo.

The camera controls and lock on feel a bit clunky but otherwise it was enjoyable.
Might get it in the future. Maybe...

This looks exactly like Phantasy Star Universe. Nostalgia.

'Sokay, I guess, but I think I may just go back to Phantasy Star Universe. I know that means I'll have to put up with Ethan Waber's "punch-you-repeatedly-in-the-face"-worthy voice, but at least the cutscenes would be, well...animated.

You guys should check out Phantasy Star Zero when it comes out.  Not only does it have online, it's going to be a lot more like PSO instead of PSU, so they're getting rid of all the dumb things they added to PSU like the new Mag-creation system, weapon forging, and class leveling.  Plus the art's way better.

You should do your research when you post. Phantasy Star Portable removed the weapon forging and changed the Mag creation around. And the job-class leveling is generally considered an upgrade over PSO's old style. Plus, the online is completely gimped and the graphics are the some of the shittiest 3d I've ever seen.

I have been playing this game for a few hours now and it isn't bad. It has been dumbed down, but it works on a portable. Playing a few minutes and clearing some areas is great when you have a little down time.

Jayge, God forbid I be wistful for a game that disavows the existence of PSU and its franchise-murdering suckitude.

AHAHAhahah   "Newhumansapien" nice one Vinny!

Does anyone know if it's still possible to play PSO on PC?  I've always wanted to try it, but I missed out back in the day.  And I have 64 bit Vista if that makes a difference.

bshirk -

What they have on PC is PSU (officially), here are the system requirements: http://phantasystaruniverse.com/support_sysreq.php

If you can find the PC version of PSO (Blue Burst, I think), then you can play on un-official servers.  You can always do a search for PSO to get your answer...

i'd rather play the 360 PSU instead.

Not my type of game.

the biggest problems with PSU series is that the storyline, dialogue and unlikeable characters are straight up Dumb!... PSO was atleaste a bit better at it.

other then that it has fun gameplay

Yeah, this is what we got instead of a quieter, more mature Kodama-directed PS5.
