I've grinded my way through a fair amount of PvZ 2, and it's actually really jarring seeing all of these zombie types in Garden Warfare that PvZ 2 either dropped or reskinned. It makes me realize that PvZ 2 really only kept the cone zombie and buckethead zombie, and changed everything else (though mechanically the zombies are mostly just reskinned).

I also realize I just don't like any of those new designs from PvZ 2. Since they're all themed around Egypt/Pirates/Wild West, the designs just feel really lazy. So I'm glad to see that Garden Warfare is hardcore mining nostalgia instead of pushing the new zombie designs.

Frank Underwood was not using a Move controller when he attempted to play God of War 3. There's ton of Sony game marketing in that series. In season 1 he was playing Killzone 3 a few times and there's a small exchange about a PS Vita as well. Season only had him try to play the newest God of War but he was using a DualShock 3.

Yeah, I can't remember for sure, but I think it was a normal controller. The weird thing, though, was that the TV turned on when he pressed the PS button and the game was already running. Although, if my past roommates are a good barometer, then many people leave their games running while their TV is off.

This game looks just as awful as Warehouse and Logistics Simulator. So I'm surprised its not met with anywhere near as much disdain.

After watching an hour of this I just can't imagine there were never plans for microtransactions in this game. Who would set up a shooter like this if they weren't planning on selling you coins or at least currency boosters? I just can't imagine professional game designers sitting down and deciding that this upgrade system would be the most enjoyable for players. There has to be some sort of plan for microtransactions. I just seriously don't get why they would make it like this without them. It was kind of the same after seeing the Titanfall cards. I really get the feeling that Jeff or whoever said it was right that these games were planned with microtransactions in mind and they were then removed after the massive backlash with the XBone launch games.

Also, I seriously don't understand why EA insists on using its own servers. Microsoft has free high quality servers that any developer can use. Why would a company want to spend the money on its own servers if they could use someone else's superior servers for free? I don't get EA at all right now.

I totally agree with you about Garden Warfare, it seems obvious that they at one time made some of these systems with microtransactions in mind. But I'm more unsure about Titanfall: There's no automatic reason why "burn cards" like the ones in Titanfall have to have been implemented with microtransactions in mind. I won't rule it out of course, but I doubt it.

As for EA, I guess they have their reasons for using their own servers. Maybe they want to be in complete control over the experience or something? It hasn't worked out well for them so far though, that's for sure.

Why am I being told to 'use a html5 browser capable video to watch videos' all of a sudden? I'm using my ipad and it's always been perfect for GiantBomb, but now I can't watch anything. Anyone help me here?

Was this recorded before or after the hysterical argument about this game on this weeks bombcast?

No it doesn't. Don't be silly.

Man, I just wanted a new Plants vs Zombies game. No phone-based free-to-play thing, no third-person multiplayer shooter, just a new Plants vs Zombies. It's 11AM and I need a drink.

Edited by Mumrik

1) If Brad and Jeff are playing a multiplayer shooter, always default to following Jeff's POV.

2) While I kind of like some of the visual customization I think letting the plants go places where they are no longer identifiable as plants is a bad call. That hotrod thing had no more organic looking parts. It makes for a messy identification process while playing.

It's EA, maybe they just want the power to shut it down in 12 months.

I'm kidding. I'm sure they could do that with MS servers too.

Frank Underwood don't give a FUCK about no electricity bills. He must roll with his shit on stand-by 24/7.

It's hilarious how dejected Jeff is.

Game looks fun, but not for 40 bucks, considering the stupid unlock model.

Wish it would release on PC already... a vague release post-Console launch date isn't right, nor fun. :(

Peggle 2 hasn't even got a date, im guessing in 6 months there will be a PC version for this

I really hope that isn't the case. It's been available on Origin for a good long while for pre-order, sitting with a "Spring 2014" release date. I thought it would be the same release date as the console version, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

let me tell you secret, never trust any information on orgin. it is one of the big list why to hate it

In the new season, ol' Frank tries to play God of War Ascension but doesn't even get past the title screen because....reasons. After that, it seems he gives up his gaming addiction. No Vita, no remote play, no PS4! Call me crazy, but the "Is that a PS Vita?!" conversation with the kid in season 1 was pretty much the most cringe inducing thing in the entire series.

Microsoft's servers are not free for developers to use.

I personally really dig the art style of this game and horde-type third person shooters are the ones I get most into. So it's made for me, I guess. Hope the PC version keeps an audience for a while.

I am shocked this didn't end in a knife fight between Jeff and Brad.

Just as a minor complaint, i dont like when they do that distorted split screen to show both tvs, makes both screens look like garbage. just put them side by side or something.

Edited by whitegreyblack

All of Jeff's talk of "electric cactus" reminds me of the weird old white guy who kept trying to sell me drugs in Cusco, Peru by calling out "Psychedelic cactus!" every time I saw him around town.

@development: With my how TV is, if I turn on my PS3 or PS4 the TV will turn on. Granted, the game isn't running when the system turns on...but the TV still turns on. I think its because of the Aynet stuff my TV has.

Pretty glib of Jeff to say kids already play Call of Duty so why have them play this. That's like saying, "Why play that Lego City game when your kid can play Grand Theft Auto V!" Because that's shitty parenting and I wouldn't let a young kid play that in good conscious. So, yeah, maybe assholes will let their kids play Call of Duty (which explains why these kids are almost always assholes online) but fuck that.

So, this in fact seems like a great game to let kids play since it fills that Call of Duty slot while keeping the content light and fun. I'd love to play co-op with my cousins if I ever get an Xbox One.

Guys c'mon. Its Windjammers that Jeff gets enthusiastic about. If anything else, Skylanders.

But on this game, it looks like a well made shooter for kids. Though the Peashooter design in this game looks kind of creepy. I'm with Vinny.
