BLITZ!

As a Harmonix total fanboy, I am really looking forward to this game.

Holy shit!

Lets get Blitzed!

NFL BLITZ...

Posted by hollitz

I'll grab this because I love me some goddamn rockband (and john drake) but the 25 Blitz songs are kind of bad.

Posted by Irvandus

hmmmmmmmmm, okay, color me interested.

Posted by MachoFantastico

Like the look of this, and the fact that all your songs are included in both Blitz and Rock Band 3 is pretty great. Have to get this next week.

Ok, I'm not the only one who heard it!

7 minutes and 30 minutes of menu stuff before actual gameplay. Nice.

Posted by EndlessObsidian

@Judoboy: Certainly seems like it. Which is a GOOD thing!

Must have been one of the last things Jeff recorded before his tragic Olympic trolling accident. RIP Jeff Gerstmann.

Edited by KarlPilkington

Ryan's explanation of the power-ups mean nothing when he hasn't shown what the game actually is.

Okay, at least Jeff is trying to hurry him up.

This will be my first Rock Band/Guitar Hero. I can't wait.

Rock Band Facebook Blitz, say what?

Posted by Esteban8612

Looking forward to the demo for this, I played a lot of Frequency back in the day.

WHY?

Edited by Winsord

From this Quicklook, pretty much all I learned was that I can't listen to the commentary and watch the game at the same time. It looks really fun, and I definitely getting it this week, but I hardly remember a word you guys said, just because of how much is going on.

Edit: Also, I do hate Pumped Up Kicks.

Show off rhythm game, explain all the systems for 7+ minutes before actually showing what the game plays like. Skipped ahead because wtf.

Posted by Tikicobra

Is this any good if I don't already own Rock Band and therefore have no songs to import?

Posted by Sarumarine

I have 600+ songs for Rock Band. I am all for any game or software that helps me take advantage of that. I'm ready for Rock Band Blitz. Seems cool.

No you are not.

Edited by chilibean_3

Whoa. There is a lot more going on in this game than I would have expected.

There also seems to be a lot of systems in place to get people to buy more songs.

Posted by BeachThunder

I have never even heard of Foster the People, yet here they are calling that song overplayed. I feel so out of touch D:

I wish Ryan would stop explaining the menus for half of every quick look he does.

Posted by rjayb89

Wow, this Quick Look is actually informative.

Reminds me a bit of Audiosurf.

Except the notes you are playing actually line up with the rhythm

Perhaps now that Blitz no longer relies on the instruments being used in the songs we can get some decent 90's 3rd Wave Ska up in this piece. How the fuck am I still unable to play a SINGLE Reel Big Fish song in a RB game?

Sucks you have to be friends with the crew to get that kind of TLC

Posted by radioactivez0r

So I finally understand now how it's played...mostly...but what makes it fun?

Posted by RE_Player1

I was going to get it but with such a heavy need for Facebook to get the full experience I'll pass.

That and playing the hell out of a game before doing the quick look so that we no longer get any kind of initial impression of anything.  They used to just jump right in and show the learning process, sometimes they still do, and those are always the best quick looks.
Posted by Metal_Mills

What the fuck at Jeff explaining this game? I have no clue what he was saying. Might as well have been teaching quantum physics in French.

Posted by The_Nubster

Oh man, this video alone gave me the Rock Band eyes.

What is even worse is that Power Gig had released Reel Big Fish's "Beer" and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones' "The Impression that I get" as DLC, but then didn't put out the patch to make the songs playable in-game.

Ya but then a whole bunch of people complain that they don't know what they're doing and shortchanging the game. Either way they do it someone prefers it the other way. I think they just need to be smart about which games deserve which treatment. More mechanically dense/complex games should probably be played in advance but I agree that something like this they could just jump into.

There's no winning. When they do it that way, people freak out because they're not experts at the game. Someone's upset and whines in the comments about it incessantly either way.

I'm blitzin'.

Posted by Cincaid

@Winsord: Was just about to type the exact same thing. You can't fucking win over internet commentators, ever.

Wow. Really? I saw the DLC, but I never knew it was actually unplayable. I remember seriously contemplating picking that shit up just so I could play some of that stuff. I'm glad I never did.

Killswitch Engage!

Posted by Bourbon_Warrior

Wait so you can only get these achievements from buying a shit tonne of DLC, play 50 songs from one genre? Really!

Posted by asmo29a

Gameplay starts at 7:30. Yep, it's a Ryan QL.

I literally started the video, went and made my lunch, and came back 7 minutes later and he hadn't started playing yet.

Posted by LarryDavis

I dunno guys, as someone who played the hell outta Freq and Amp using square-triangle-circle, Typewriter looks the most comfortable. That's actually what I was miming when I was watching the first round of gameplay before they showed the controls screen.
