There has been a lot of Quick-Looking today. This pleases me.

How did you convince Ryan to do another Game Room Quick Look?

Posted by MrKlorox

I wish they'd port over the Sega Saturn Shinobi game instead.

Posted by SolidOcelot

This makes me miss Game Room Quick Looks

Posted by PimblyCharles

Awesome! I love when Giantbomb does retro game quicklooks! It brings back so many memories and of course, it's great to hear what they have to say about the games and history behind them

3:08 Jeff does that whistle as he says "step" like that gopher from Winnie The Pooh

Finally, Revenge of Shinobi. All of these should have been on that collection from a few years ago. :)

Jeff and I totally share the same opinion on Alex Kidd.

Posted by stinky

used to know the placement for everything in the shinobi game.

Keith Courage was a WAY better pack-in than Alex Kid.

The master system was so bad! I loved it so much!

Not enough though. I traded it for a SNES if I remember correctly.

The Jaken bosses in Alex Kidd are NOT random actually. Quite the opposite; the bosses always pick the same things.

Posted by Monk

Forget E3, just play retro games.

The monster world collection menu music I could listen to all day

Edited by skelington_

Jeff and Ryan, the 'Old Guard', are my absolute top picks. I could listen to these guys jabber and chirrup over Quick Looks all day, everyday. I don't feel like i've been hearing enough of them to quench my appetite lately (or maybe i'm just imagining things), but then again, those guys are busy bees. Formal request: More Jeff and Ryan if possible, please.

The giant hands are freaking me out. It's like being at a Flaming Lips concert.

Posted by hawkinson76

Wow, Alex Kidd is so much worse than Super Mario Brothers! The music, controls, gameplay, so sad!

Posted by chilipeppersman

so much nostalgia!

I fucking love Revenge of Shinobi so much.

This music and main interface makes me want to play Phantasy Star Online for some reason..

How can someone NOT like Alex Kidd? Something is wrong with this world.

Those are kunais not skurikens.

Alex Kidd is very much a "you had to be there" sort of thing. Coming in to it as the sort of person who never really played an Alex Kidd game until a couple years ago, the game just looks like a really off-brand Super Mario Bros. clone. "Hey, instead of punching blocks from underneath, what if you punched them... from the SIDE?!?!"

Wait, it's only 4 games? Eh.....The Sonic Mega Collection was a lot better.

Posted by prestonhedges

Once again Giant Bomb's capture gear has a problem with blinking sprites. Wonder Boy just goes invisible instead of blinking.

Posted by Cloudenvy

Man, I thought Monster World 4 looked potentially awesome. Maybe I should go pick that up.

Mega Collection was also a full priced retail game, wasn't it?

The music in MWIV is so fucking good!

It's all variations on that first theme you hear but they do an incredible job of altering it enough to be instantly recognizable yet evocative of the various environments. It's worth playing just to hear it.

Posted by paulunga

Fuck yes Yuzo Koshiro. And for as bad as Alex Kidd is it's at least very unique.

Edited by lanerobertlane

How can they miss Wonder Boy III in Monster World out of this collection. It was by far the best Wonderboy game. Still I brought both collections this morning and had a lot of fun with them. I cheated on Alex Kidd and used a GameFAQs walk-though I wrote years ago to find the answer to the Rock, Paper Scissors bosses. Wonderboy in Monsterland's controls suck as much as I remembered but that added to the nostalgia and Super Hang-On was Super fun for an hour. I never played WBIV so I'll dedicate some time to that over the next couple of days if I can pull myself away from diablo.

Posted by hakunin

God damn I played sooo much WB in Monster World as a kid, this is making me nostalgia hard...

Damn, I'm gonna have to get this...

Posted by Krakn3Dfx

Oh snap, a Quicklook with Ryan and Jeff, feels like it's been FOR ever.

I know what I'll be watching while I'm on the elliptical here in a bit.

Posted by phrosnite

The Adventure Island games were some of my favourite NES games. So awesome!

Geez, first Ryan drops the homophobic lingo, and now with the racism, calling Alex Kidd a monkey. What is going on with this site?!

(I'm kidding; calm down.)

Well I guess my view on the game is different, since it was my first game on the Sega Master System, and was also the first platformer game I had ever played.
