Does the game just have a really terrible framerate and jankiness or is it the video?

It's the game. Surprising for a game that doesn't, uh, have much going on.

That video description made me laugh. Good one, Patrick.

Jeez, that frame rate. I don't know how you played the game with that going on, and I don't get how you only mentioned it once like it's not a big deal.

Edited by BeefyGrandmole

Are those signs in Irish?

Edit: They are. That's kinda awesome.

The game's pure boredom had pummeled my mental state into one of jelly.

That's true. I'm not sure how I made it through this video.

I like the music, but yes the frame-rate when the rocks came down...

I have not seen the end of this QL yet, but though I am enjoying the atmosphere, I like the game to actually go somewhere. I just saw the criticism of Indigo Prophecy and HR, but they sound like they tried to become something. I have HR, but I was turned off pretty quickly. I liked Dear Esther, which this reminds me of.

The pop in, bad.

Dat framerate. Was this the result of playing and encoding at the same time on the same machine, or is the framerate this bad on its own?

Posted by machinerebel

Oh man, you can feel Patrick's pain. Looks like a pretty boring game :\

Posted by Phatmac

Why'd you quick look this again?

lets remain at least somewhat professional

From the description Patrick is giving of the game the framerate is pretty low in the list of "things that are wrong with this game". In other words if it would've had perfect framerate it would not have been any more enjoyable.

Edited by RobertOrri

Ooof, the framerate is really bad in this. Anyone know the tech this is running on?

(EDIT: It's Unity)

Too bad, it seems like an okay sort of athmospheric experience (and probably more fun that Doorways).

Posted by Sheeshor

This Game can`t possibly run this bad, can it?! Seems like your PC is dying, Patrick.

Posted by gbrading

I've seen this at several expos, it seems kind of Myst-like and less horror really. When I saw it the framerate definitely wasn't as bad as here.

Posted by drkscyde

wow. that framerate and the pop-in.

Posted by PoisonJam7

I only know one Irish word: Glasgow Kiss. I've never used it though...

Posted by LibrorumProhibitorum

When you had to click that door opening mechanism each time I said "OH MY FUCKING GODDDD" aloud. That was my breaking point. Not the slow pace, not the walking back and forth, that fucking door.

Is this game made of bad framerate or are my eyes made of bad framerate

Posted by Milkman

Patrick, you infinitely more patience than I.

The Irish was kinda cool until I saw they used it for every object. I don't ...get that.

Also whoever thought splashing ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED/SECRET AREA all over what seems a pretty immersive game needs a slap.

I was wondering the same thing but Patrick isn't mentioning the framerate so far... so I don't know. Nevermind I just read his comments I guess it just runs like poop.

Edited by JackColt

I don't typically feel nauseated by first-person games, but that framerate really has me going. Oof.

Posted by cooljammer00

When a game is this boring, is it worth Quick Looking? Seems like Patrick really had his hopes set on being spooked, with the lights off and whatnot.

Edited by ChrisTaran

This game looks terrible.

Not sure how Patrick made it as long as he did.

Patrick, what did you think of Dear Esther (that is, if you played it)? This kind of reminds me of that, but with puzzles instead of heavy narration. I enjoyed DE because I was curious and wanted to know more about the story, but I'm wondering if this had any extra at the start to possibly motivate the player a bit more. Do you think DE is a fair comparison to this game?

I like the idea of the game. The visuals are neat, the slow methodical progression is sort of zen and myst-like. The execution on the idea may not be there though.

Posted by fuzzypumpkin

Seems like it's trying a bit too hard to be Dear Esther.......and not succeeding.

Edited by ToTheNines

I like you Patrick, but I wish you would drop the camera when it's not spooking with scoops.. In my humble opinion there is no need for it in a quick look, your handsome colorless face and freaky eyes are a bit distracting.

Edited by BeachThunder

It's on Gog, Gamersgate, and GetGames. It's not on Steam yet; vote for it on Greenlight if you dare :o

He took it off for a video or two but put it back on as people were asking for it back.

Having a webcam feed in the corner annoys the shit out of me. For horror games and live shows and stuff, sure I get that, but why have it for just showing some gameplay?

Edited by Applekid

That did look like a poorly executed Myst clone.

Ha! Nice gif usage, Patrick!

I like webcam for quick look solos. It's like jar time with Jeff. Since Patrick or Jeff is speaking to the viewer, it's nice to see their face.

Posted by Jodski

Is it just me or does this game seem like it's plagued by fps or screen tearing or something?

'Dear Esther, the frame rate of my most recent excursion has reach unbearable lows'

Posted by MemphisSlim

I don't agree at all with facecam complaints; I feel like it helps distinguish these solo ventures and adds a little something flavor.

Don't tell me you thought those Arrow Pointing Down-early GB-era QLs of just Jeff, Ryan or Brad playing alone were exciting.

Amnesia may be a terrible game, but at least you could launch chairs out to the stratosphere.

Edited by qualus

That was.. strenuous to watch. Anyway, @patrickklepek any chance you'd be Spooking to some Erie? http://www.desura.com/games/erie *grin*
