Just played through the PC version  and it  breaks my heart to say that most people should probably do their best to avoid The Force Unleashed 2 unless it's a cheap rental... Story's worse than the original and is pure fan service of the worst kind, albeit decently acted and well presented, and the gameplay, while marginally improved, is way more repetitive due to a lack of enemy variety and the entirety of game's second half consisting of drab starship interiors and retreads of the first few levels. It's almost like you could pinpoint the exact moment at which the creative lead decided to leave the project a few months before launch...

Shame - first 2 hours and a bit were great fun before the onset of numbing tedium kicked in and the game can look genuinely astounding at points. I really, really enjoyed the first despite it's flaws but it's harder to overlook those same mistakes 2 years down the line, especially when the team behind it had showed signs of having  learnt some important level design lessons in the DLC for the first game - only to then repeat the same copy paste corridors and repetitive environments here is just such a damned waste of potential when compounded with the other issues.

The moment I heard Force Unleashed II announced my senses tell me it wouldn't be good.

Exactly.

Some really good looking cinematics

Posted by Tennmuerti

The game is super short and even then it gets repetitive. Not to mention a lame story.
Just not worth the $60

Which is sad because I liked the first SW:TFU and this one is visually much more pleasant.

The reviews of this are so horrible that I think I'm going to cancel my pre-order and not bother. It sounds like very little was improved and a lot more of broken.

Played the demo, seemed entirely forgettable. Gameplay was worryingly repetitive and not fun or engaging in the slightest.

Brad's showing off the best looking level in the game by the way - after this one, it goes very drab, starship interior and colourless which is a shame considering how great the art direction could be in the first game (and there's hints of that here).

F'n Mos eisley!

So sad that this game turned out the way it did. I really enjoyed the first game despite its obvious flaws. At least it had more variety in its environments than this game does.

One thing I found in the first Force Unleashed is that it's actually easier to hit things by throwing stuff behind you over your shoulder so a lot of times when I'd face those AT ST I would turn my back at them and just fling stuff behind me until they died. Try doing that for that achievement with the ball, Brad.

This just makes me wonder if there's ever going to be another Jedi Knight game. Kyle Katarn is the only made up Jedi for me/

This game blows.

Posted by RiotBananas

All Star Wars fans need to refuse to buy another game until they add proper god damn lightsaber dismemberment I'm fed up of seeing Jedi/Sith slapping dudes with glowing sticks.

Ah I love the smell of good quick looks for mediocre games in the morning.

Big step backwards for the series.

Posted by zityz

Sing it Brad Murray!

I dunno, I was too bummed out by the first one and this seams to much more of that. The game looks good and I didn't mind the story so I'm sure its fine in this one. It's just the gameplay mechanics and level design is what really kills this series. Yes trying to grab an object you want seams to be a pain in the ass again, and yea it seams like you die to a lot of unnecessary things. Oh well, looks like a rental.

Pulling a Brad is strong in this one.

This game ain't good...

Posted by Catfish666
@RiotBananas: Actually that is one of the things that's been added to this one. Though from what I hear it's barely enough to save this game.

Kinda shame really, first TFU granted had very frustrating bosses at times and alot of repetition, but the plot was darn tight, upgrade system addicting enough and force slinging troopers and shit around hella fun.

Great looking game but too short and shallow combat. Had a lot more fun with Castlevania and it wasn't that great. Just shows how poor this game was. A total cash in, but thats kinda been the formula for most Star Wars games lately.

@Catfish666:  I mean proper, 1-1 dismemberment. I slice a dude diagonally I want him to fall apart.

Can't you zap the ball with lightning before throwing it?

@AndrewB:
Man. I wish.

Visually this game looks amazing. Gameplay looks fun too.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan (well, of the old flicks, anyway), but this just looks bland and repetitive... I'm passing this one.

PS: Brad sure cares a lot about achievements... I personally couldn't care less; just give me a good story, is all I care about.

Jedi Knight?  No?  Nevermind then.

This spell of long Quick Looks makes me happy.  Keep it rolling!

Oh, it's not Star Trek: Phasers Unleashed?

Posted by Metal_Mills

I think this game looks more fun than people give it credit for. Ok it's not the net Jedi Knight but it's fun, looks nice and the combat is better than the first. For a star wars fan, I think it looks decent. Better than many games out there.

It's sad to see Brad is in on this bullshit.  Instead of judging a game (or a film) on its own merits, people seek fraternity with their "brothers" that happen to include everyone on the planet.  When a common person says "Star", everyone's ears perk up.  When they start with the "w" that follows, everyone prances around like an excited puppy so that they can unleash a tirade of "PREQUELS SUCK JAR-JAR SUCKS LUCAS SUCKS BLABLABLA ONLY TRUE FANS HATE EVERYTHING!" so that all their friends pat them on the back and immediately agree 100% with no qualms or other feelings whatsoever.

All of a sudden it's not about film criticism or game criticism anymore.  It's about looking cool on the internet.  It follows "epic" and "for the win".  The prequels have their fair fucking share of problems, but I'd much rather people learn to discuss them on their own merits instead of regurgitating the exact same talking points, from the exact same humor websites.

Doesn't help that everyone complains about Star Wars now sucking for being "populist", then 90% of the Earth agrees with that statement.

but the game looks so cool!

@TadThuggish:
Mate, sometimes movies are just bad. There may be some bandwagoning, but that doesn't conceal the fact that the new trilogy is bad.

Oh, reading what you said more specifically, you do say they have problems.
Well, if you're referring to Brad's reference to the "red letter media guy", maybe you should watch those videos. That isn't meant as an insult, I mean, you should watch them. It's weird, they definitely try to be humorous, but at the same time they're very well thought out and make points that are of a really high film criticism level. I don't have a problem with someone repeating the words of an analysis that was that well thought out and argued.
Posted by Venatio

I like the prequels! Don't love them but I can enjoy watching them

There I said it

Euphoria seems less impressive now with the way that everything seems to bloom up when you hit its leg with a lightsaber rather than actually slice.

@Vitor:
i agree ,though i dont have the game yet and only played the demo.

I never said it wasn't bad.  If you think it is bad, though, what should happen is you should discuss a film from a perspective that's your own, using your own examples and ideas (regardless if they happen to be similar to someone else's).  Since the prequels, the entirety of the Star Wars franchise has been put under a scrutiny unlike other films or games.  People think it's okay to copy/paste their beliefs from other critics in hopes of joining the elite group of being edgy on the internet.  When everyone does it, it's not exactly "crrrrazy" anymore.  It's a hypocrisy 99% of critics on the internet fall into.

I've watched the red letter media stuff and happened to learn a lot, it's cool, but when you look at the youtube comments it's all "hell yah midikloruns suuck!! lol"  People aren't concerned with the products in question, they're concerned with peer pressure and not being left out of the popular community.

@TadThuggish: I agree, there's definitely a lot of circle jerking that goes on. I'm saying it's a bit unfair labeling Brad as guilty of it. All I gathered from the quick look was that he was dissatisfied with the new trilogy and he found the Red Letter Media videos informative. Just sayin', don't jump the gun.

Looks just as terrible as the first game. The demo left me unimpressed.

well there is no way around the fact that it did in fact sucked. there was just no magic/spark to it.

I loved the shit out of the first TFU and got max 1345 points in it. I will be getting this one as well because the demo was really fun and they made the gameplay better, plus I like the story. I don't know why there is a lot of hate on the TFU games in general..... I thought the first one was great!
