You guys should do a quick look on Oniken available on desura, 8-bit goodness :)

I love that Vinny's goto Filter track is "Take My Picture" and not "Hey Man, Nice Shot."

Posted by BeachThunder

This actually looks good (well, except for anything that relates to the music integration...).

Looks pretty good, might give it a go.

looks neat

Seems like another one of these Indie rhythm games like Beat Hazard or Rhythm Zone that fails to create an unambiguous link between the music used and the level it generates. A decent Indie shooter with randomized formations and a customizable soundtrack is a fair enough prospect, so why even bother trying to sell the "music defines the stage" integration angle?

The music integration actually starts to become more and more apparent the higher the difficulty you play it on. If they do play it longer it'll click in. Around the 3rd level of difficulty and you have to be in the groove to get things going, and some songs still kick my ass. Lovely game tho. Worth it.

This looks like Beat Hazard, but not as seizure-inducing.

Yeah, and that's really a shame. I had this game described to me last night and I was pretty much sold immediatly, but the music integration looks really...Shallow.

Looks kind of cool, will check this out

Happy launch day everyone!!!

@Bats: totally right! feels like it was called out on not being integrated enough too soon.

Even the track they used with the subwoofer was not a great example, my first track with it was bass heavy and that subwoofer was awesome, size of the note was controlled by how much bass it was getting as you would expect, and on beat. it becomes a little bit about getting the right load out for the songs you're playing.

as a "music guy", I always pick up the music integration games that let me use my own library. I have to say that I'm having more fun with this than most of the other so far. Obscure musical tastes have been leading to a lot of empty leaderboards (obviously that's a me problem), and I've been having some crashing issues, but I'd assume that those will get worked out.

Been playing this, pretty fun. Much better when you get to the higher levels. Gets better with more weapon variety to.

.wma files? It's gonna find all your porn!

Although there probably is a lot of cool stuff in this game to unlock eventually, first impressions are telling me that Beat Hazard is much more fun.

Hey look its geometry wars.

Posted by Xymox

It does not have last.fm support.

I have that problem with Audiosurf; I'm world champion in shitty jazz metal fusion and Wesley Willis songs.

I don't know if I'll dig this as much as Beat Hazard. Is there more enemy variety later on?

@MAD_JIHAD: Don't insult geometry wars!

My band actually played a show with Dynasty Electric awhile back. Despite having siamese hair, they're nice / talented people.

Posted by R3DT1D3

I'd rather stick with Beat Hazard. The mouse control for movement just looks and feels awkward and takes you out of the feel of the music.

Posted by prestonhedges

Oh, another one of those games where they pretend like the music you're playing has some kind of effect on what's going on. Cute.

Scan your computer and an online login is a bad combination.

Quick, I need to put on my tin foil hat.

Posted by GorillaMoPena

So who is going to be the first person to play this week's Bombcast in this?

Posted by Devil240Z

If they had four subwoofers on their ship. this game would be exactly what they want it to be.

Posted by ShaggE

A music integration game with loot drops? Uhhh, yeah, I'm all kinds of sold.

Posted by gbrading

Looks fine. The music integration seems rather peripheral though.

Posted by Pop

I just liberated my music all over my pants, it's everywhere!

Posted by Amaru25

Lol at Jeff wanting a sandwich.

Posted by SnowPin

Reminds me a lot of Beat Hazard.

Posted by altairre

I just played it and this game is effing amazing. Really enjoying it.

Posted by zeekthegeek

You can actually get weapons that integrate with the music much more, like the subwoofer that fires based on the Bass beat.

Posted by Rabid619

This looks pretty neat, and I really liked the sound of that Dynasty Electric band. I approve of this quick look!

It's annoying when the demon (randomly?) shows up and robs you of your leader board score. Don't like that at all.

Posted by chu52

No one wants to mention that the song was ELECTRIC GLOVE! as in the drink created by our very own bombers, drop those electric gloves inside our glass!

@chu52: Love*

Posted by Slayer78

They should've tried it with some blast-beat infected death metal, or perhaps some Marduk in full gear, their "Panzer Division Marduk" album in other words. That stuff would have spawned a lot of enemies if I understood the concept behind this game correctly.

Posted by KaneRobot

Should have tried some Strapping Young Lad with that thing just to see if the game could handle it.

Posted by Box3ru13

As someone who owns Beat Hazard, Audiosurf, and The Polynomial its a safe bet that I'm going to pick this one up too.
