Curious about this!

The initial buzz seems to have died off fairly quickly for this game. It'll be interesting to see how it does.

That Brad attempt at an execution 2 minutes in :-p

Oh gosh, what's up with the low bitrate on the video !?

Youtube video looks equally bad...

This looks acceptable.

Is GB's lowish bitrate just more noticeable here because Titanfall's so fast, or is there something else up?

The death throes of a console past its prime. I have a place in my heart for Persona 4 for not attempting to be anything more than a PS2 game, on top of its many other accomplishments.

Posted by kittenmittns

@insane_shadowblade85: Its Skyrim son! Lowest settings... seemed appropriate. Actually I think it might be a mod

I would have said that the 360 version of Titanfall is that crappy, but I also noticed the low bitrate in the PC Quick Look of Dark Souls II, so there's something definitely weird going on here.

Posted by AndrewB

@kittenmittns: It's a mod that makes Skyrim playable on ridicu-low-spec computers.

Edited by Simes

Brad should know by now that he hasn't "got this".

Posted by Andheez

The best part of Titanfall is that I have fun playing it even when things are going terribly.

Posted by HistoryInRust

Looks like Titanfall.

If I had an Xbox One, it'd be great installment for the system. As it stands, this Xbox 360 version looks beyond acceptable, and I'm more than excited to add this to my 360 game library. And I get a several-hundred dollar discount along the way.

Posted by cb1115

my lord, dat bitrate tho.

Posted by SomeJerk

Bluepoint did an amazing job on this, considering the Xbox One version. Unlock the framerate and it comes clear why Microsoft paid EA off to have them delay and go hush about this version.

Posted by flameboy84

I can't believe they held back this version because it's actually amazing and not vice versa what a strange strange situation.

Posted by PacManFevaa

Yes, it looks worse. But does it feel like you're playing a worse looking version of the Xbox One game or does it feel noticeably different?

They probably did it so people bought XBone instead with Titanfall instead of just playing it on their old consoles.

Edited by whitegreyblack

It's certainly not all that pretty, but they actually appear to have pulled it off. It's totally Titanfall on a 360.

Re: Brad's comments at about 15:00 about being happy the new consoles are necessary for new games like Titanfall... (my poor paraphrasing)

I personally don't see a new generation of consoles as being necessary until I see games coming out that are completely impossible to pull off on the older hardware. I'd argue that, while they are cool games, Titanfall & Infamous SS are both games I could have played on old hardware (and it just so happens that with Titanfall, you can see that actually being the case). The only upgrades to the actual games are higher fidelity graphics - the gameplay and scope are both possible on the old consoles.

New experiences that are impossible to pull off on the old consoles will come, but I don't think they have yet.

Game looks good to me. Hard to tell because of the way Giant Bomb upload their stuff (making this whole quick look kinda pointless) but if all I had was a 360 I don't think I would be disappointed with the way this looks and runs. I was expecting last titan standing on that lagoon map to run like complete shit considering that map seems to run at about 20-30 FPS on my PC (most maps run at 50-60) but it looked fine. Seems like bluepoint did a good job. Brad is bad at games

No really this and the Xbone version look pretty similar with similar performance. Rose tinted glasses for a game that just came out a month ago?

This was my original take on the situation, and it's looking more accurate now that the game's out.

Who knows though, Digital Foundry might've needed the couple extra weeks to make a few final pushes.

Also, the severe lack of wallrunning makes me cringe.

Posted by TheMasterDS

PS Brad is bad at games.

Does he even do a single wallrun outside the tutorial?

Posted by BRich

Still pretty impressive for 8 year old hardware. I have an Xbox one, but nice that more people get to play this awesome game.

A pincher?

A PINCHER?

Looks pretty decent, and will probably outsell the One version by at least 5 to 1.

It just bums me out How this site is more obsessed about how a game looks. More than how fun it is to play which is more important. It's really getting annoying.

It was just as bad with the PC Dark Souls 2 video yesterday.

When you considered that the subscriber video was 60fps, and the YouTube one was 30fps, the YouTube video was actually higher bitrate.

Not only is this video bit-starved, but it looks like its running through a really crappy encoder.

And for some reason, it's only 30fps rather than the usual 60.

I hope this is just a mistake and someone has uploaded the videos with the wrong settings, and not something like management saying they need to cut down on bandwidth costs - because if that's the case, I will be cancelling my subscription.

Hearing people talk about graphics the way vinny and brad are talking about graphics in this video aggravates me to no end.

XB1 and PC versions not looking like graphical powerhouses makes a lot more sense now after seeing how the last gen versions look

Posted by Moonling

30 fps does not suit this game at all.

It's probably more because of them using the Source engine. The PC version still looks quite dramatically better than the Xbone.

edit: Not sure why Brad said it's impressive they got it working at all. It's not a very good looking game on any platform and it has a low player count.

The entire internet pretty much. I've got some minimum demands in graphics but it's mainly for it to not look bad in a bad way (Onigiri PS4 looks bad in an acceptable way), but this is more than good enough for what it does, and creates a near Quake-game quality flow and speed to the action, neither resolution nor framerate impacts what it delivers. Those who stick with their 360s are in for a very good time.

@00: Well, Jeff said on his Tumblr that their video process was changed in a major way last week before DSII went up, so it's probably tied to that. It seems to be tied to how they process stuff, not the actual bitrate, so I expect it to fix itself pretty soon.

I have the PC version. Source isn't much a problem, it has the ability to look good especially with the retarded high resolution textures I can see on my 1440p monitor but at best the game just looks sharp and that's it. I think there could have been a lot more "next-gen" visual flairs but that was held back because of the last gen versions.

Posted by Soap

I'm sorry but fun or not, this version just looks plain bad. WTF the pop in is unreal!

in additon, didn't he say that it was changed without anyone being notified? So it seems like a CBSi thing got fiddled with and then the GB crew was not informed about it.

Edited by CharlesDA

Happy to see that it seems to run fine on the 360.

Posted by XenoNick

Looks like it runs fine. Looking forward to picking up my copy on Friday.

Posted by rangers517

I don't think they remember how awful the xbox one version looks. When they were playing that version they also kept talking about all the bad textures and tearing...

Posted by lowestformofwit

yeah, this version reminds me of Counterstrike 1.6

Getting the PS4 controller to work for PC is really easy, install the PS4 wrapper, install the driver, start the server and you're good to go.
