Aaaaaaaaagghh....

Sad they didn't quick look the ouya so they will just rant how crappy the controller is.

Posted by rmanthorp

Ohhi Quick Look. I wonder if this will get across what's so good about this game. I keep hearing it is the all 4player game but the few times I have played it I would much rather being playing SamGunn, BBB, Spelunky DM or THE BEST GAME Gang Beasts.

Off to a great start...

Jeffs memory for weird and obscure gaming trivia really is outstanding!

EDIT: This looks really fun actually with the ability to catch arrows and all the modifiers. I like that it has more complexity than something like Samurai Gunn

Incoming Strider references!

@brad You will be eternally Brad at games! Also shame on you for confusing the Italians with the Spanish (even though Columbus was technically Italian).

Attack on Towerfall?

What is with Brad and making awkward comments to Vinny, haha.

It's funny because the subtitle implies that it has left the ungodly depths known as the OUYA.

(I've not seen the video yet so this might be a reference I don't get, if so, ignore me).

That's Giancarlo Varanini of Gamespot :)

On a related note, what is Giancarlo doing at Gamespot nowadays? I've always thought of him as an on-screen personality but he's never in any videos and I never see his name on any articles.

This game has been a blast at our home

Oh they totally Quick Looked the Ouya, and Ryan quickly realized he didn't want to look at it anymore.

That "Ciao Motherfucker!" almost killed me.

Looks really good and loads of fun. I like the power ups and range only with limited ammo mechanic.

Just feel I need to say this, but elephants were definitely not the end of the Roman Empire. That happened about 600 years later. Go Skippio Africanus!

Biggest load of horse dick? My word Vinny...

I've been playing a lot of 4 player local mutliplayer games lately, and this has been the most entertaining one in a while. Second only to Gang Beasts, but with more staying power. I thought it was a shame that the GB guys didn't dig it at first, preferring Samurai Gunn, which seems much more simplistic to me, yet somehow less fun for those who don't always play games.

But Brest at games just doesn't sound right.

Edited by cloudymusic

This game is pretty rad, especially with four players. At a recent group gathering, we played this, Samurai Gunn, Nidhogg, and Speedrunners, and this was by far the most popular. Samurai Gunn just feels a little too chaotic when you have four players.

Idk, I think it sounds perfect.

Rome still beat Carthage, despite elephants.

Posted by namesonkel

I don't really like how this looks. It's something about the pixely artstyle, makes it look too visually busy or something.

I think "Brad at games" covers situations where he wins and situations where he does poorly equally well.

Nidhogg is still my favorite one of these to watch other people play.

WHO'S BRAD AT GAMES NOW!

Who is brad at games indeed!

Edited by amlabella

This might be my GOTY so far, I've been having a blast playing it with my brother. Super fun, and I love how many little secrets there are in the game (unlockable characters, secret levels, etc). And I know they didn't show it off, but the co-op quest mode is a great addition. Just finished all the levels on normal difficulty last night, and it provides a decent challenge by the end of things.

It has some even deeper complexity besides catching arrows: you can superjump by doing down + dodge + jump, and you can cancel dodges by pressing dodge again to modify your air trajectory. If you dodge off of a platform and then cancel the dodge there's a window where you can jump in midair. Game has some pretty sweet movement options.

He could run for president with that slogan. Or at least governor of New Jersey.

You actually just sold me on this, right now, with this comment.

That infinitely falling body was some straight up Atari 2600 shit right there.

Looks like a fun local player game. Doesn't seem as intense as Samurai Gunn or even Bomberman, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Seeking arrows, autoaim as they called it, in this game is very predictable and is part of the strategy as you get better at the game. It only seeks in the first few frames of the shot.

Ugh. I'm starting to get really tired of these local multiplayer "couch games".

And I'm really tired of playing games with online randoms.

Couch co-op games-- especially 4P ones-- are typically twitchy, easy to pick up, and a great way to include your friends that enjoy playing these sorts of things but aren't necessarily enthusiasts with their own consoles/PCs. This stuff is fun to watch, play, and good for groups gathered in one room. TowerFall, Nidhogg, Crawl, etc... bring'em all on.

Hey, I'd love to play this if I had 3 friends who were interested and could afford 4 controllers
