lol seriously I'm about to this weekend. I just hate feeling left out. :P

So I've played this game. I just think we are all spoiled from the PS3 Wipeout, which is incredible at 60fps, that even this great game looks disappointing. Once you get past that the game is really fun, can't wait to get my version next week.

I respect the Giant Bomb guys a ton, which is why I find it incredibly strange they feel the need to even comment on the current status and future potential of the Vita's visual quality. Not so much that they think the launch titles lack any real visual punch, most of them do, but that they would even wonder if it's due to hardware limitation and the system will never look much better than this. It seems like the easiest thing in the world to say that obviously PSV games will only continue to get better and improve in a substantial way. Just as on any platform.

I agree, none of these Vita games look astounding but they sure do look great. Especially when you compare Wipeout Pure, a PSP launch title, to Wipeout 2048.

Wipeout Pure
Wipeout Pulse

Damn. How spoiled we've become hahah.

And here's Wipeout Pulse, 2 years later on PSP.

Boy, as a Ninja Gaiden Master... This is bad, and will flop bad too.

I'm guessing the lack of impressive graphics is due to the games being launch titles. After all the Vita has more RAM than the 360 or PS3 with a total of 640MB. Several of the games including Uncharted are running at non-native resolutions. You'd think with the power of the Vita the native 960x544 should be no problem. It has to be lack of optimization from having not enough time to make the games for launch.

As soon as I can afford a Vita, this game is my first purchase. The last three Wireout games were fantastic, and this is one seems to fit with those just fine. Plus, custom OSTs without doing some weird fiddling with folder / album names is awesome, and after the amount of time I tend to play a single Wipeout game, even the music could use some more variety.

Dude... Rollcage. I haven't thought about that game in a LONG time.

18:19-18:47 Perfectly illustrates why I'm so hyped for this game and system. Look how fast it was to get out, put on a song, and hop back in and the nice addition of seeing a friend sign in showing it is as good as a console when it comes to the friend notification aspect. I know the 3DS can't be as fast as that but I wish in the future there was some way of notifying me when friends are online when in game.

@msavo: Yeah, switching between things like music (or even taking a screenshot and throwing it up via twitter) is super smooth and fast. Was one of the more impressive things to me certainly, with the device from a general perspective.

That's some dub-ass dubstep.

I want to be in that future where every car looks like a BMW i8. I want that game.

I think those framerate issues are really minor, but things like that don't really bug me anyway.

Kraftwerk!

That opening song makes me shiver (in a good way).

If anyone can tell me the name of the song that'd be awesome ;)

Wipeout needs to be 60FPS for me, especially after HD which I adore.

Same.

So is this coming out on PS3 or is the cross platform play limited to the Fury HD tracks which I think this contains? Would love to play 2048 at full 1080p and 60FPS like the PS3 Wipeouts.

It's actually the only dubstep song i know, other than a few Skrillex songs. It's Louder by DJ Fresh, although that version of the song is different from the one i know.

"They just looks like iPhone games"

Or those other more powerful phones that dont have an apple logo...

This is all lining up with Evel Knievel's vision of 2084.

Yay, Camo & Krooked

Posted by crithon

that's a shame, in Zone mode in Wipeout HD, the custom music had visual effects in the background to the beats of the song. Man that's a shame Wipeout usually is my definition of what to expect on a sony console.

They really need to bring back Rollcage. Get it on the Vita and I'm sold!

Posted by Aristides

I'm totally not into car games like Gran Turismo. Whipeout is the only "racing" game that I ever enjoyed! :)

Posted by Phished0ne

That intro video was pretty fucking badass.

Posted by Razorlution

Really makes me want a new Wipeout on the PS3

Posted by Three0neFive

I lol'd when someone named kikemas1 signed in. You can hear the awkwardness as they try to refrain from saying something stupid.

That intro movie was fantastic. Also, as shown in this video, the thing that impresses me most about the Vita is how quickly you can get to the menu screen from any game. You can be playing Little Deviants, decide you want to play Uncharted, and switch games really quickly.

It actually looks quite good!

Zone mode looks stunning, especially on that screen.

I realize I'm about 2 months late here, but I just noticed Jeff namedropping Rollcage. Man, I want a new Rollcage game, because that game was crazy.
