Resident Evil 6 Is Getting a Siege Mode

Never played a RE title before, why start now.

Even the fans say ew gross. Franchises blow unless you've been there for the first. I don't think I'll properly enjoy the mechanics of the old games either being babied with what's regular in new games.

They would never do a game cube style remake of resident evil 2 or 3. On top of that, there's nothing "financially doomed" about the game series at all. Capcom sold over 4.5 million copies of resident evil 6. (by November 2012)

Jesus titty-fucking Christ, this looks horrendous. So glad I checked out of the Resident Evil franchise after RE4. That was the last time that the franchise was worth a good goddamn.

No thanks. Is Capcom holding out on story related DLC - like extra missions in RE 5 for example - for later in the year? All the extra modes in multi-player released so far seems boring. I shouldn't be surprised, Capcom will find ways to squeeze an extra dollar out of people.

I thought the comment from Alex was spot on and this is coming from a user that likes RE6. There is the way you wish things were and the way things are. The way things are for RE6 is not as great as it could be.

that "no hope left" website at the end of the trailer kinda got me depressed. Its as if their announcing some kind of suicide hotline for their franchise.

I'm having a pretty good time playing through RE6 online with my buddy from back home. Playing on Professional, we're enjoying the (very slight) challenge and making fun of the ridiculousness Resident Evil has always shown. It was fun when we were doing it on a couch in his mom's basement, and it's still fun over the internet.

I'm not going to say it's a very good game by modern standards. If you were playing it on your own, I can see why you'd prefer a frontal lobotomy. But for $30, it offers a damn long romp through silly set pieces and poorly-written dialogues. I love it that way. I'll save Dead Space for when I want to play an actual game.

Will I be buying DLC for it? Probably not.

"Supporting the industry" by playing crap just makes the industry make more crap down the road :/

You've been a member for how many years, at least two from your profile, yet you have managed to apparently never read, hear, or watch anything that involves Alex because snarky sarcasm is kind of 'his thing'. I don't think he's ever held off a wry one-liner about the weaker portions of a game or movie; not about the ones he hates and not even about the ones he likes.

And nobody on the staff has "ditched" game franchises, or their fans - they've simply either stopped having fun with those games or have been disappointed with the new installments. That happens to anyone and everyone over enough time. GiantBomb is an opinion driven website and, I should hope, the majority of the members like that the guys don't hold back on scorn or praise for games. The crew tells it how they see it, and if you don't agree - well, they aren't going to change their minds. You'll either agree or disagree as is your right, but you won't change them or this site simply because you like a game they hated and don't like them making fun of it.

And calling it hateful complaining? Dude, they didn't like parts of the game - from mechanics to design choices - and people would be even more upset if they ragged on it without 'complaining' (read: explaining) why they felt they did. They complain because they have to complain, else they just seem hateful for no reason.

They make fun of games they didn't like, they make fun of games they do like, and there will be opinion injected into everything. I don't think I've ever heard them claim to be anything but a personality (and thus personal opinion) driven site so I don't see why you'd expect journalistic, scholarly, objectivity. Alex has never, as far as I have ever noticed, not inserted 'opinion' into his sub-headers or bylines and I don't know how you've seemingly gone so long without noticing.

Alex has been a staff member for a long ass time, man, and is a steady and constant contributor to this site. I doubt a whole bunch of people are suddenly going to notice, after years, that he's here and doing what he does - let alone be pushed far enough to leave the site over some dry humour about a game that a good deal of people really didn't like.

And no, I don't think anyone will really say you're kind to GiantBomb. When you're kind to something or someone you don't try to take the things that make it special and unique, the personality, and remove them. You don't try to make it a bland and sterilized regurgitater of press releases; corporate sanctioned youtube trailers; developer controlled and limited demonstations. You wouldn't threaten to leave, and promise mass exodus, over a snarky headline and some Bombcast segments that don't agree with you.

That stuff doesn't make you kind, man, it makes you seem like a child. If you want to be kind you'd be willing to overlook some of the differences of opinion you have with the staff on a couple games and enjoy the site for what it is: unique, fun, and full of character. Personally thought RE6 was an exceptional game with the best combat systems outside of Vanquish so I certainly didn't trade my copy in! Seems a bit needlessly snarky and biased comment but oh well.

This looks like it could be fun, Capcom really put a lot of work into making the different enemy types control like separate beings so getting another mode outside of Agent Hunt to use them in is great. Looking forward to the onslaught mode dlc, sending enemies to the other player's side is hilarious. Capcom is really doing some cool things with the multiplayer aspects and modes, wish all companies would be as creative.

Agreed. I've never really liked Alex's snark. He knows it's unneeded, but he does it for page hits.

It's almost as if.. people have varied opinions on games based on their individual experiences and tastes.

Nobody should be telling you you're wrong for liking the game; there will never be a single game that every person in the world, let alone every person on a forum, will agree on completely.

I'm actually really happy for the people who played RE6 and enjoyed it - Everyone should have fun with the games they play, everyone should get entertainment for their money.

We all need to realize though that other people who play the same game might not like it, or they might like a game that we didn't, and neither party is actually going to be wrong. Someone saying "The controls felt really slippery" isn't wrong just because you felt they were fine: they didn't like the way it controlled and jumping in to say "They were fine" won't change their mind, and it definitely won't change their experience with the game.

That said: the people who write content for this website are known for being vocal in their opinions, and they're known for cracking wise about things. Maybe it isn't as funny when you like the game they're complaining about, but you need to understand and accept that it is funny for some of the people who share their opinion.

It is harmless - though perhaps annoying to some - fun.

Resident Evil 6 is nothing like the original and this DLC only makes it worse. It's too loud, too crowded, and too actiony - a complete opposite to everything I loved about Resident Evil.

I think I'll settle for The Walking Dead DVD box set instead.
