Alex's soothing voice and dry humour makes for a relaxing watch. He should be in more videos playing games :)

Remember that the game allows you to cheese a bunch of enemies if they can't hop up a small ledge even though you can still hit them. Take advantage and don't feel bad about it!

I can't be the only one who thinks Risk of Rain is kind of boring, right?

You can, sure. Why do you care if you are? Why do you feel the need to let everyone else know? Not everyone finds everything fun, man.

Patrick is good at games but it was kinda' a jerk move to keep playing without Alex. I know Alex was okay with it but it kinda felt like it went against the spirit of a coop-play through.

OK, so I agree with you guys in spirit. However, I don't know whether you two and Patrick and Alex know this, but the netcode in Risk of Rain is kind of awful, and lags out, completely desyncs, drops people, etc., pretty regularly. I've also had the game just lock the fuck up while playing the online multiplayer, though I've never had it do that after playing it for hours of singleplayer. Also, the game doesn't save until you complete a run or die, so if it locks up mid-run, the game doesn't "remember" anything you unlocked that run (meaning when it locked up the game didn't give me credit for several monster logs and item unlocks that I had earned).

This seems like one of those indie games where the idea is rock solid, but they just don't have the money/time/experience to fix some of the technical shortcomings. I still recommend people play it, but be aware that getting an online match going can be nightmarish depending on how picky the ports on your modem feel like being, and the game is fond of completely dropping players (with no way to rejoin) and occasionally crashing.

Yeah, the game doesn't scale in co-op very much which makes soloing much much harder on the same difficulty.

It does, but the difficulty is vastly overrated by people. You just need to find a good balance, since with a properly exped out character you can easily turtle the neverending barrage of enemies on the last level.

Honestly, this game got the absolute best when I maxed out the difficulty timer on the last level with the Huntress and was facing a billion dudes at the same time, including bosses. Super tense and super fun to see those juggernauts fall.

The Binding of Isaac is much, much harder, since a lot more of that game is based on luck than skill, and there are plenty of room combinations and items that can seriously fuck up your run. Not to mention Sheol runs, since Satan can be ridiculously tough compared to the Cathedral boss, unless you have the most gamebreaking thing in the game (Mom's Contact + Mutant Spider/Technology 2), in which case he's a total joke. Or if you have to fight the Mask of Infamy without Piercing Shot or with Dr. Fetus, in which case you're either fucked or you should have a lot of time to waste.

Wait, is there some secret strat to the Cathedral boss that I'm unaware of? Because if I don't have a full halo of 3 flies, the Cathedral boss owns my ass every time. He just has so much fucking HP, and inevitably I gradually take hits due to the boss' bullet spam, and he tends to wear me down faster than I can DPS him to death.

I've always considered Satan to be a complete joke compared to the Cathedral. None of Satan's forms seem particularly hard, assuming you acquired sufficiently good items to get through Sheol in the first place.

Agreed that Mask of Infamy and the mask/heart enemies in general are complete pieces of shit on certain room layouts unless you have phenomenal items. Some days I wish I could just disable Wrath of the Lamb without having to mod the game, so I don't have to deal with its bullshit enemies. Also it bums me out that some of the items/trinkets still have bugs that are probably never going to be addressed by the devs at this point. I recently checked the wiki again and learned that the Rusty Key trinket is literally useless at the moment because a bug overwrites the variable that should increase key drops.

Only thing I do with Cathedral boss is stand in a corner, slightly wiggle to ensure that the homing tears don't hit me and so I can arc my shots at him, and spam him with bombs at the very beginning of the battle. Goes down every time like the Hindenburg, even with less-than-stellar items. The only way to fuck yourself over for that boss fight is to have Technology 1/2 with low damage - the boss shoots back only when he gets hit, so if you have bombs or big-ass tears, you can have enough control of the potential bullet hell to move around and plan your next move.

On the contrary, my problem with Satan is that his mobility makes fighting him without Polyphemus or Mutant Spider extremely tedious and slow. Especially his hoof form, since if you're out of bombs it makes for a tedious runaround with no consistent way of hitting him, especially if you can't arc your tears.

I'm pretty sure you can turn off the expansion by simply launching a separate .exe in the game folder.
