I was hoping for a LOT more filth and cursing in this vid, akin to the Rogue Warrior QL; slighlty disappointed.

Ugghhh... 5 minutes into the video and I'm already frustrated right along with you :) 
 
As you said, Ryan, you do suck, but frankly that's not your fault. Visceral designed this gauntlet to lengthen the playtime and it obviously works. There are some obvious tactics to make it easier but you shouldn't need to be that good at the game to progress on easy. Especially in a God of War-inspired game.
 
Anyway here are my tips.
 
1. You should have the relics equipped that make the combo window last longer.
2. You should move out of the way if you're about to get hit rather than trying to keep attacking. Rolling wont break the combo.
3. There is no need to block. Rolling is a better solution. If you see an enemy winding up for a big hit roll to the side and continue attacking. 
4. There's a power (can't remember what it's called) that sends out little blades that fly around and hit enemies, this is useful for continuing the combo. 
5. The magic power bound to Y by default is great for taking out those obnoxious baby enemies.
6. Don't use the cross attack unless the enemies are well outside scythe range. It's good for picking off guys who are too far away for a normal attack but otherwise it's easier to manuever and change up if you stick to scythe for close-range rather than cross attacks.
 
None of this takes away from the fact that the whole scene is FUCKING STUPID. THat's my general feeling on the game actually.

Did the programmer end up changing it to that from "d00d Phailx0rz lol"?

Ryan shouldn't need any holy spells. If you can't dedicate yourself to the dark path and be able to get through the game, then there's something wrong with it.

Watching Ryan play this, I'm reminded of the way I play beat-em-ups, which is to say, completely wrong.

The fact something like this is mandatory in the game is just outstanding. Why would anyone design a game like that?

The final challenge has a suitable name—it's the only trial I gave up on getting the bonus for on Hellish difficulty.  And man, I am glad I went with a balanced approach (punishing demons, absolving the Damned) for my skill set.

Is this part of the game or a "Challenge of the Gods" type thing you do after the game?
I'm just wondering because I haven't played it yet and don't want spoilers

God I almost died laughing my ass off!! 

I shot that shit to easy about half way thru the game, and that challenge wasn't too bad, too me about a dozen tries, but man! 30 mins of that was pretty hilarious.

Ryan must have missed the part about you equipping yourself with reclics in the game. They do lots of different things, one adds many seconds to your combo window.
Makes this challenge a cakewalk.
You pick up new relics all the time so kinda odd he missed it.

So glad I went holy when I played it.....the cross makes the game so easy.  The relic to increase the combo window helps for that challenge, but with the cross maxed out you don't even need it.    Just get in  a corner and use the cross non-stop.  If something gets kinda close, then jump and use the cross combo from the air.   I pretty much treated the scythe as a secondary weapon the whole game and just used the cross as my main weapon....it just destroys everything from any distance.

Oh sweet god, I so glad he beat it. I was worried there for a second.

Use cross and light attack combos because they can be broken and canceled out.  Don't go into finishers at the end of the combos (the final move which can't be broken) and don't get too close to them so they can push you back and stagger you.
 
If you find you're too far from an enemy to keep the combat going.  Use sins of the father magic so you can close in and keep it going.

I could see myself getting frustrated with this if I hadn't gone Holy.
 
I discovered that the crosses do auto-target and it became a matter of simply mashing the B button with your buffed cross attacks. I also believe there was a relic increases the "grace period" before the combo resets by 1-3 seconds. And then I dodged whenever the enemies got a little too close to me.
 
I used this strategy to get the 666-hit combo achievement too, but on the challenge where you had to kill five enemies in the air since you could take as long as you wanted and the enemies keep respawning.

Someone tally this QL's # of F-Bombs with the Rogue Warrior QL?

Two words: Divine. Shield. Greatest ability in the game. Makes you essentially invincible (thus your hit counter never resets) AND regenerates your health.

This looks completely frustrating and unfun. I won't even rent this now.

That challenge looks filthy and horrible - I hate getting throw into stuff like that. :E~~
 
Also everyone writing the huge comments full of strategies: It's unlikely that you have to give Ryan any hints; he completed the challenge in the video and is probably done with the game by now. He is beyond what you're giving him strategies for. It might be wiser to put your efforts into making a guide on the Dante's Inferno page. :P

" jeff is making the same mistake many site's make,dante's is not god of war ! or is it trying to be ! it's a genre and you should look at it from that angle i.m.o . you are letting your love for g.o. w get in the way of judging this game on its merits. what it does ,it does well ! it deserve's a 8 minimum . every new hack and slash game is compared to g.o.w these day's ,and i dont think thats fair . g.o.w is by no means a perfect game, it has issues as well.   "

 This one was not that hard, how on earth can u spend so much time trying to make past this one? just use the relic that makes the hit-counter hang around for like 2-3 seconds longer and you'll done.
I liked the game but it was actually a tad to easy, once u figured out which relics to use where this game was a walk in the park.

I was having a hard time with this until I equipped the relic that increases the combo timer and started using the crosses a lot. This is actually a very good game but these ending trials almost ruin the experience. Almost.

there is a ralic that makes it so that u cant be knock out of ur cross attack. use that and max out the cross combo then just spam it u will do it in one go

I thought the game was awesome. not GOW good but it was good I had fun with it and play though the game twice in a roll and love every second of it. the game does has its share of fault but what good game doesnt. but thats just me. I love the game and the challange was not hard at all just need to use tactic and the right ralic

So from the comments below, if you miss the 'increase reset length' relic and go unholy this challenge becomes impossible? Because that seems the reason of Ryan's failing. Or is the relic unmissable? Because if it is not, that seems like a major design flaw.

Somewhere around 25 min I was about to give up watching this lol, but I am sooooooooo happy he finally beat it. I especially love the fact that they got it all recorded, therefore it will never be forgotten. 

@lunalicrichard: No, it is. The gameplay and the feeling is too similar. If I was able to jump into Dante's Inferno right after completing both GOWs and feel like I never changed the disc, there's something wrong about that game.

Also, I'm not so surprised that Ryan is struggling, knowing about those relics and shit. Hell, I'm not even surprised if Ryan doesn't have any of those. But it's good that he finished it by his own skill, because I'm always shocked at people ending games with just barely progressing through them with shitty levels/equipment/both, as me, as a completionist, will be never capable of pulling such a stunt.

Still, let's clap Visceral for making such annoying challenges. In the face.

I think that you are a totally true man Ryan and are only sad because of how ridiculous this challenge is. I'm guessing it's probably really hard because of all the unholy. Anyway this just makes me even more filled with contempt for this game.  
Anyway congrats on getting through it finally.

these ralic r pretty much unmissable. its not like its an open world game like gta and u need to find the freaking birds. it is GOW with a twist, the ralic and holy unholy power adds another depth and tactic to this game. and its about finding the balance in the game. use differnt ralic in different challange. its kinda part of the design imo thought it was great anyway.
