I'm skeptical, but hopeful that this game turns out more potentially than it has shown. Apparently this is scheduled for a May 2013 release date, but a part of me doubts that. This looks like a game that'll be delayed maybe to the end of 2013 or into 2014.

So everyone in Paris speaks English? Just sometimes with a French accent... they should have used an English speaking country. I know it'll change worldwide, but it seems strange. I think I'd play it with French language if it's available.

And the way you HAVE to fail to memory rewriting to then be given the option to take the safety off the gun is stupid. Forced trial and error is not rewarding. Other than that, I'm actually looking forward to this... more than Watch Dogs (stealth > action IMHO)

Looks interesting, but I could see it getting repetitive or even boring if there's only one way to accomplish the objectives. Nice style though.

I dunno, you can say it's press button to win or w/e, there could be more to it than that. It looks like a stealth game not so much an action game since it seems like the protagonist isn't equipped at all, but the traversal looked smooth, which imho would be important if that's true. Environments seemed full and rich, I'd think there may be multiple routes she could have taken (or maybe in later levels) to make it more like a puzzle game like I think stealth games really should be.

There weren't many options in the remixing in the demo (which I would guess is the first one in the game since she had to ask if he expected her to kill him), but the mechanic could lend itself to some nice adventure game style puzzle solving if the scenes were more involved, which I'm going to assume will be the case (reluctantly because I have little faith in capcom these days).

There is also a lot of room for an interesting albeit predictable story in there to. I still find it amazing how quick people are to judge a game on so little information, it's all going to come down (as always) to execution. I'm more concerned that it's a Capcom game than anything I saw in the sample, will be keeping my eye on this one.

Nice. I really like the remixing concept in this, even if it's a little simple like people mentioned.

The graphics look good. And it seems like there will be an interesting story. The gameplay when she's "remixing" his memory looks too simple. If it's just a matter of toggling each item one at a time until the objective is achieved, then it's not much more than a dressed up adventure game. Don't get me wrong, I find adventure games relaxing on Sunday afternoon. But a sci-fi AAA-budgeted game like this needs some more depth or challenge there to hold my interest.

Yep!

Err, I think Deus Ex + Watch Dogs is still Watch Dogs. This is more like Deus Ex + Uncharted/Assassin's Creed.

Both of them still looks sweet though.

On one hand it'll be interesting to see how much freedom we get in terms of the "remix" scenarios. I'm assuming not much, but even then I love this more for the feeling it ultimately delivers even if the method ends up being linear. But who can say now? On the other hand: my cyberpunk cravings are through the roof at this point.

The main plot twist will involve the revelation that the protagonist's memory has been "remixed", right?

Unless they're retarded, they will hint at this. The premise is too interesting to not make an attempt on this theme of questioning reality and moral choice.

If they are smarter, they wont actually have the protagonist's memory "remixed".

If they're really smart, you won't be able to tell the difference.

For me, the most interesting thing they could do is reveal that actual player actions are false memories. That way it's not just the character's memories that are being undermined; in a very loose sense, it's also the player's.

@Beld said:

@JamesM: If you find the other "trailer" trailer, they flat out state she has. So I think you start out the game with that in mind.

Oh, interesting. I'm guessing it'll turn out that her brain was more hacked than she thought it was, and that her main motivation in the game will turn out to have been manipulated. Or perhaps they'll play up the unreliable narrator thing throughout.

This is everything that's wrong with modern game design. All the "cool ideas" here just came down to following a perfectly linear sequence of press-this-button-we're-telling-you-to-press, with zero player agency. I bet you can change people's memories to get them to unlock doors too!

I have never seen a game like this before. Messing around with the target's mind to make him think he done something which he originally did not do in his memory, that's an awesome way to kill a target. I also love how the player can access the walls and climb with ease where the environment looked like it could not be scaled. And also the detail of the world created, so much attention to detail.

She should have just remixed his memories with Dubstep. That would have made him kill himself real quick.

The premise looks extremely interesting. The graphics look a bit rough in some parts. Too much blur and bloom in the memory sequence, for my taste. And did you see that aliasing? Damn. But I'm sure they'll have polished the edges by the time of release... literally.

Why isn't their a non lethal way to have dealt with this guy? they could have made that an option and I'd have been vastly more impressed with this overall. I'm getting pretty damn tired of games that try to imply the player has options and yet in the end our characters are still just slightly varied types of sociopathic mass murdering nut cases.

I love how the character is like “What? You want me to KILL him?!” but then is totally cool with it once it's revealed that she only has to hack his brain and make him kill himself, as if there's some significant moral difference or something.
