Sega Finally Gets Around to Calling a Sonic Game 'Sonic Boom'

holy shit Sonic / made by ex Jak & Daxter Naughty Dog team / 1080p / latest full-fat version of CryEngine3.....the wiiu is getting alot of really good games in 2014

Saying it looks like a knock off of anything isn't a good sign at all. Haven't the past few major Sonic games tried to ape the Mario Galaxy style? Like, Colors and Lost World both tried to do that, right? And they're not exactly resounding successes.

I'm sort of looking forward to when they are finally going to get around to making characters of the other two proteins in the hedgehog family of proteins. We already Have Sonic Hedgehog so why not Desert Hedgehog and Indian Hedgehog?

I get the feeling this will play similar to Ratchet & Clank. The new art style is pretty cool, too.

I don't know what to make of this, ... knee jerk reaction is I don't like the character design but that's only because I like the old design. I watched it a second time and the video of the cartoon show that was posted and I think it might have some promise, just hard to get used to that different character design I don't know why but something about the design looks french probably the lengthy bodies.

You know what? Fine. They gave Tails a voice that isn't the absolute worst, so that's a step in the right direction.

Maybe it'll be fine. It will definitely be pretty.

Knuckles looks dumber than usual, and this is an awful trailer. Should Sonic talk? Nooooooope.

I don't think this looks markedly stupider than any other Sonic game.

I compare everything to how ass spyro the dragon looks now after activision touched him or how ass the new killer instinct looks on xbone.

This is decent update to the art compared to those I can at least tell it is fucking sonic and it is a sonic game with out the name on the box those other horrible reboots I cant.

See after Remembering this the update to sonic looks good. then again just about everything does. I know it can be a lot worse.

Its a Sonic game made by the guys who worked on Jak and Daxter. I actually have pretty high hopes for it, the 3DS version is handled by Sanzaru, who made the great Sly game last year.

Even if you poke fun at the designs (which, with the wraps and environments) they all look very Jak and Daxter, which is a hell of a lot more interesting than anything Sonic's done in the past ... 15 years?

The optimistic (and somewhat inebriated, if I'm honest) part of me would like to think that Sega reserved the title "Sonic Boom" for a game that, internally, they thought was worthy of the name, which up until now they haven't?...

That bit where all the characters were running next to each other gave me some nasty Sonic Heroes flashback... ugh.

I'm guessing it won't be like that though. From the pedigree end, possibly 4 player co-op platforming. Probably not the Sonic game I want (which is more the Colours/Rush/Generations end of things), but I may end up playing it anyway, when my friend gets a WiiU and has need to fill out a library with anything more than Smash Brothers.

To all those saying "Sonic Cycle lol" let me point out that people START with being excited for the game, not being repulsed...

The only thing of interest I got out of that is the name.

I mean, sure. I don't know that I think this looks any more or less appealing than anything else I've seen from these games recently. But then Sonic has never been my series anyway.

Why does Knuckles look like even more of a piece of shit than usual? I ask this as someone who digs Knuckles.

The character designs look horrible. Damn, Sonic Generations gave me hope for sonic, this trailer may just have taken the last scrap of hope away.
