Some Bad Business Is Going Down in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

After I'm done with ACIV, I swear I'll start The Witcher 1, then 2, to be up-to-date with the series before The Witcher 3 comes out. It looks absolutely amazing.

I still can't get through the Witcher 1, I just give up on the swamp every time. I really want to get into this series looking at this though.

I cannot believe that this is actual gameplay footage. Utterly incredible. Im probably half way through the witcher 2, not sure how much father I will get but I think Im in for this game regardless

One of the best trailers I have seen, it doesn't reveal too much and still manages to excite more than most other trailers dream of. Also the music is just FANTASTIC in setting the mood. This is how you do a trailer right.

Unfortunate that Vinny is the only one on the staff that plays the games, they are all fantastic.

I feel like this one is getting tons of hype from everbody, probably due to the fact that it's one of the few Next-Gen only games coming out next year. And it does look amazing.

I'll definitely play Witcher 1 this winter, but I doubt my PC could handle the second one (don't own a 360). Could I read the book instead?

Just finished Witcher 2. Amazing series and now I'm all caught up!

I really liked the first Witcher too and while it's slightly more janky than Assassins of Kings (in a Mass Effect 1 vs. ME2 sense), it's still a blast and introduces some major characters in the second game.

@mildmolasses: Does W2 give you a good idea of what happens in the first game? I heard it is similar to ME1 where it is better to play the first of the series first, and that you are able to transfer save data.

3rd book came out in English in August. I say this because I was only aware of that last week and it's been pushed back for YEARS.

You can, but the things it influences are VERY minute. Which is fine, because the game changes SO MUCH based on your choices in the current game that making those matter more would be an absolute NIGHTMARE.

@lausebub The games, I believe, pick up after the books (which are amazing, by the way), so they're entirely new stories, as far as I know.

I want to play this, but I'm mostly excited for it to be finished so we can start hearing more about Cyberpunk 2077.

@undeadpool: I think the Witcher game series comes right after the books. Too bad those will never come out before Witcher 3 (and maybe not even after) as I think they expand upon who the Wild Hunt is and what they have to do with Geralt and his past.

I don't think I'll ever finish W2.

As someone who read all seven Witcher books (they came out a while ago in Germany) this game excites me like few before. Like @undeadpool already wrote the book series is really awesome and you should most definetely check them out if you care for the games. It seems like there are only three books translated into English officially but there is a really good fan translation if you don't want to wait another 10 years (or however long it'll take).

The detail shown in this trailer is pretty incredible, the world looks better and livelier than ever. I'm also glad that the combat looks like they improved it from what I can gather off of the short snippet. It was one the biggest weaknesses in the second game (though it wasn't bad). Again, great love to detail because if you look closely at the animation when he hits the first guy you can see that the guy's hand is still attached to the sword the moment it flies off screen.

If you really can't get over the swamp then I obviously agree with you. I would advise to slog through that part though (it's really not that long once you get over the initial hump) because what comes after is really good especially the final stretch shortly before the ending.

I love this series! I was halfway through the witcher 2 when my friend accidentally erased my saved game. I haven't gotten back to it but it looks like I'll have to before this comes out.

This is hands down my most wanted upcoming game. Adored 1 and 2, as well as the books.

I was and still am suprised at how fun the witcher 1 is. Combat is weird but in a good way, and it's genuinely deep and interesting. Can't wait to get to the second one.

Some of the best games ever made. If people are finding it too much to get through the first game (which I actually enjoy), I'd recommend downloading an unlimited health mod so you can get through and see it all. Don't settle for recaps.
