another one?

Posted by TadThuggish

These games are still fairly neat, even if it's suffered overkill.  The Clone Wars is a surprisingly good show, so there's really nothing wrong here.  Just a lack of innovation on TT's part.

That thumbnail looked like Supreme Commander. I'm disappointed.

How many of these is it now? SW 1, 2 and 3....two Indy games....a HP yrs 1-4...Batman...am I missing any? Wow Tell Tale...way to milk the formula lol

Posted by Doctorchimp

Not a Raven Software Jedi Knight game?

No Star Wars Republic Commado sequel?

No next gen space-sim/space combat game or even something more arcade-like akin to Rogue Squadron?

LucasArts still sucks this gen....man did they nail it last gen though.

Well, they are certainly going fora very different feel from the previous Lego games. I know nothing about the Clone Wars or whatever else this is based off but if it can keep a smooth balance between tactical rts with easily accessible gameplay then it might be a winner.

Meh. Looks better than Brutal Legend at least.

I guess Lego Rock Band counts, since TT helped Harmonix with its development.  Also according to Wikipedia there's going to be a Lego Pirates of the Caribbean next year.

Also,  TT Games is Traveller's Tales, not TellTale. Similar names, but they make totally different games.

@Doctorchimp: it's easier to manipulate the kids so it sells better :(

I'm not sure why people keep bringing this up.  It's made by completely different developers and mainly focuses on the Lego side of things, over Star Wars.  Even then, it's guaranteed to outsell any of those other games you listed.

More prequel garbage...

Dude, people bought the first one, because they wanted to make fun of the movies, and the game was funny.
They bought the second one, because they liked Star Wars and the game was funny.

No one watches The Clone Wars. No one cares about new Star Wars TV shows. This will be Batman all over again. (and not in a good way)

Completely impossible for Lucasarts to license people to keep those franchises going though right? Or even try and get the developers to do another one this gen.

And I'm well aware lego sells like hotcakes to the kids, it doesn't mean it's any good...
Posted by Wandrecanada

They finally bring back co op in a Lego title and it ends up being a crappy version of Star Wars?!  Bah!

Posted by Jace

Hurrrrr the fans want more legos, who needs JK or Republic commando? Who needs more of the best we've ever made? hurrrrrrr

Posted by ZeForgotten

Wait, are people asking TT Games to make a Repuclic Commando sequel or a new Jedi Knight game?
Ahahahahahahaha, fucking idiots.

Posted by ThePilgrums

This looks too complicated. What's wrong with fighting enemies, solving simple puzzles, and collecting studs? I don't go to the LEGO games to play a fucking RTS. I mean, I can understand wanting to freshen up the formula, but... This looks lame. :S

TT stands for Traveller's Tales

I like the Lego games but Clone Wars is just a no for me.

I think I'm stoked about this... I can't tell yet.

I take it Lego games are never gonna stop.

I never said they shouldn't make those games..  Just that it has nothing to do with the fact they're making Lego games.  Also, the games are good.  Very fun to play for both kids and adults..  It's also based on the Clone Wars, which is the single best thing to come out of the Star Wars universe since the Empire Strikes Back, and while it's more of a parody of it in this case..  I'd still take it over some hackly written Expanded Universe crap.

that thing looked like a photon cannon.

I bought that compilation for the PS3 that had the first and the second Lego Star Wars game. Did not enjoy it AT ALL. Wasn't even fun in co-op.

@WinterSnowblind: I really don't feel like going back and forth anymore on this, but I was just saying lucasarts could be doing a lot more than the lego games and The Force Unleashed in terms of getting developers to work on Star Wars. I hate the EU as much as the next guy, but a good amount of the video game stuff gets a pass from me at least.

As for the clone wars preference stuff....congrats on having an opinion in the minority and then asserting it to justify something...good job.
Posted by Elusionar

I always buy the lego games for my girlfriend's 9 year old son, but this video makes this game look way to complex for kids.
Posted by WinterSnowblind
@Doctorchimp:  Like I said, I'd still love to see a new Jedi Knight game, not to mention things like Republic Commando..  Part of my post was more directed at other users in this topic who've been criticizing the Clone Wars.  Point was, it's great source material for a game and definitely better than what ever they'd dreg up from the EU.

It just seems that many Star Wars fans simply view the Clone Wars as a kids show, don't even give it a chance and have no idea what they're talking about.  On a similar note, the show is probably as close as you'll ever get to a continuation of Republic Commando.

Posted by Doctorchimp
@WinterSnowblind: Oh you were talking about the show, I thought you were talking about the plot device as a whole. In which case you would be crazy, because just having clones versus robots is mind numbingly dull and really deflated the whole thing for me.

But yeah the show's okay and there are tons of people that really dig it, I couldn't really get into it though. Ahsoka and how they handle some things to create tension really threw me off.

See this is why raising kids has to suck now. They're into the shitty Star Wars stuff instead of the real films. Dads everywhere must be losing their minds having to watch The Clone Wars with the little ones.

Posted by WinterSnowblind
@Doctorchimp: Aside from the movie, where she acted really bratty..  Ahsoka hasn't been too bad.  I think they've actually done a very good job showing her development, she becomes a lot more mature in the later episodes and they very quickly learned not to turn her into the 'Wesley Crusher' super kid, who's always right and is the one who ends up saving the day.

In the newest episodes, she's actually older and definitely acts a lot different than in those first few episodes.

And this is exactly the attitude I was referring to.  Please see my previous posts.

Good to see that they're trying to expand the Lego formula a bit.

Posted by radioactivez0r

I admit that PvP in a LEGO game seems a little weird, but the build aspect seems to be taken from LEGO HP - it has a level building component that I only used to 100% the game, but uses the same system.  Incorporating it into the main game is interesting...but I'll be waiting to play this until it's cheap.

Yes, I'm 31 and dig the LEGO games.

Lego Star Wars Battlefront? Color me intrigued.

Posted by Lilyvalley

I hate it for being Star Wars, I hate it for being Lego and I hate him for being excited about it.

Posted by TheMasterDS

Wow, this is.... not what I want from Lego games. At all. Combat is not whats good about those games, collecting is. What a misstep.

Posted by fox01313

Don't care much about Clone Wars series or this though really enjoying the other Lego games (as a thing to play for a weekend all the way through & never again).

When I saw this header initially I was kind of hoping for Kotor version of Lego Star Wars, that would be wicked cool though I'd miss the assassin droid calling everyone meatbag as the Lego droids tend to not have voices.

I loves me some Lego games, but this has me concerned. Combat is the worst part of the previous games, so to have one completely focused on it... has me worried. This was on my buy list, now I'm not sure.

Suddenly Lego StarCraft seems viable.

Posted by Piranesi

Well at least they are trying something a bit different - the first games were fun but because of their simplicity they became repetitive after the nostalgia / quirky humour wore off. With Batman, Indy and HP following the same template they clearly got in a rut.

It's just a shame that the Clone Wars setting is such a limited environment without the strong character appeal of the other games.

Battles look a we bit small as well - the TV series at least felt there was something epic going on not just the odd turret, a droideka and a handful of B1 and B2s per area. Really want a Star Wars styled Supreme Commander if they are going down the RTS road.

Posted by squidracerX

A modern star wars template that I dont care about, and a very simplistic RTS game combined into a game i wont buy :)

Ah shit, good catch....what is it that Telltale is known for?
Posted by crusader8463

Makes me sad to see crap like this getting made while they completely ignore the Battlefront and Republic Commando series. Hopefully this will bomb and they will turn to the above games to pull them back in.

Posted by Redbullet685

This looks kinda cool, but another battlefront or Republic Commando 2 would be better.

Posted by MintyLeaf

Looks very interesting!
Might think of buying someday
