Can't wait. Tastelessness aside, Shadow Warrior was great. This and ROTT in the same year... happy times!

The use of a Japanese song for this trailer does not fill me with hope that it will provide a less stereotypical "generic Asian" aesthetic than the original game. It looks kind of pretty, though.

I've never played Shadow Warrior but conceptually it sounds awesome, and Hard Reset was great! (if a bit short)

I'm reading some of the quotes from the original on IMDB to refresh my mind and I don't remember it being that racist... Just really, really corny.

I remember the original Shadow Warrior & the game Blood being Duke3D wannabes. So any of us really need or want this remake?

So is Lo Wang supposed to be Chinese or Japanese or what? That list of quotes mixes up languages and references so much I don't even know which way is up any more. I suppose cultural consistency is a bit much to ask for a game like this.

This is a weird re-release. I don't remember it being racist, although that term is thrown around a lot now, but I do remember it being really campy and gory. I remember having fun with, and it was the first game I can think of that had 3d sprites (that I played anyway, may not have been the actual first to do it).

It had really no other significance to me, and while I thought it was funny as a kid I havent really ever gone back to it (although I still own it).

It was a weird game. I have no idea what that means for a reboot. As a concept it could be interesting, but it depends on how that goes I guess.

I feel the same about Redneck Rampage which used the same engine really. Although, Redneck Rampage was way crazier.

Yes! Shadow Warrior was one of my favorite demo sharewares! How will it play for ppl. today...I really do not give a shit. The protagonist sold me when he progressed from his samurai sword to a nuclear tactical device as a 'good personal weapon'....

Duke Nukem can go suck on his own..different dev here and now. As for Hard Reset, I liked the first half, but got tired of the expansion. That might be a summer endeavor, also.

The original Shadow Warrior was just as racist as the original Duke 3D was sexist. It'll be interesting to see how this type of humour will fly these days.

As pretty as Hard Reset was, and as much as I wanted to like it, the gameplay bored me to tears.

I really hope that this turns out well and I can get into it this time, the devs clearly have talent.

This game suffers from a weird catch 22 in that you don't want to make it racist and offend people, but if it's not racist then you failed at remaking Shadow Warrior.

This could be good, Hard Reset was really great! Hopefully, they'll take a new look at the series. And they didn't end the trailer with "You no mess with Lo Wang", so things are already looking up.

I really liked the old Shadow Warrior game, but mostly just because it was another game on the Build engine (Which I absolutely loved).

I never expected a new Shadow Warrior game, though... and didn't think it was a great idea when I heard this game announced.

However, my excitement for this went from 0 to 60 once I heard it was being developed by the Hard Reset guys. That game was awesome, and beautiful, and definitely brought back that oldschool First-Person Shooter vibe.
Here's hoping this new Shadow Warrior turns out to be good.

I think that Rise of the Triad will have an easier transition to the modern age because it had a slightly more serious tone to begin with. Regardless of how you felt about the humor in the original Shadow Warrior, it still had awesome gameplay and I hope that is the part that they focus on rather than fan service.

From SW I still vividly remember throwing shurikens and dual-wielding Uzis, back in '97. The rain of ejected bullet cases from the Uzis was amazing, had never seen anything like that before. Let's hope this reboot turns out to better than DNF...

@joshardson: While Shadow Warrior's main character was rather crass, the levels & music were quite fun as well as the creative weapons. As long as it turns out like the people of Hard Reset doing it & not like Duke Nukem Forever, should be good though I really really want someone to do something like this for the other game using this engine (of the original Shadow Warrior) Blood.

Shadow warrior only sticks out in my mind as a superior product to Duke Nukem because at the time, it was one of the first games to feature 3d sprites, and game engine wise, rooms above other rooms was improved in key ways. As a self proclaimed level designer back in "The Duke" days, the slight engine improvements drew me in, and the stupid humor kept me interested. It now forms the foundation of humor I can stand, so I'm more than ready for another go all these years later. Always makes me remember ... this whole gaming thing came about with almost NO internet to support it at first. Crazy how far we've come from so little.

YUP, LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS.

Hopefully some of the enemies will still blow their own brains out occasionally. That was the most shocking part of the original.

Also, that sword combat...

Build Engine fan 4 lyfe over here, too.

I dunno. That recent Star Trek game was worse than Duke.
