I've never understood why everyone is so against more playable characters in Sonic games. It's not like by adding a new character, it automatically makes the game worse. It depends on whether the design sucks or not.

Shadow the Hedgehog made his games worse, what with his focus on guns and cars... but I don't see Sticks ruining the game by existing. I feel like some people can't handle change, even when it's often for the better.

I just really really don't give a fuck. Sonic has been shit for a very long time, any other franchise would have crumbled underneath its own crushing weight of YEARS of Awful Goddamn travesties they called games.

Yet...Sonic just keeps going, it is so far up its own ass that I truly cannot fathom what people desire out of it.

And I say this as someone that has never cared all that much for Sonic games even back during their hay day -- the only Sonic game I could say I genuinely like is funnily enough the Sega & All Stars kart racer. I still like the general look of Knuckles' new design. Legs are still too long, but at least they fixed his babyface.

A lot of people have a hard time letting go of the past, it seems. Whether those people liked Sonic back in the day and compare every new game to their nostalgic memories of the old ones… or people who hated Sonic back then and can't help but feel smugly vindicated by the way things have gone for the series since the 90s.

Well, she's at least so far a better character than Big The Cat or any other asshole they've put into Sonic games for the last 15 years, so that's something I guess

Knuckles is still the best character of them all though (including Sonic)

Because if their is one thing the sonicverse needed its more generic (and annoying) characters no-one gives a fuck about.

At this stage I honestly think Sega would be smarter to just say fuck it and make a porn game starring Rouge and Cream for all the furries.

Yes, I still watch it sometimes, those first 2 seasons. Dumb as shit but in a good way and the fighting was kick ass. And they always killed the monster at the end. No mercy. Here it is just gonna be like, Oh bop him in the head! We win! As for the shredder. That was the name of the shotgun in Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. It is a bad ass name.

@jesushammer: It says a lot about Sonic fanart communities that I literally have no idea whether this is real or not. I mean, all signs point to it being a joke, but holy shit I really don't know.

I wish Sonic would die, I know this is "for kids" but there's stuff for kids that isn't cringe-worthy garbage. Also the general Sonic fan community are dreadful, sure there's plenty of legitimately worse people in the world, but it's still some of the most painful, sad shit ever.

Also the video games are rarely above mediocre after Sonic CD.

I would be okay if Sonic met an occasional friend or two during an adventure and it was temporary, but I was really hoping they would reset the Sonic cast down to 4 and leave it at that for a while.

Probably worth mentioning that this characters involvement in the game could be very limited compared to their plans for expanding into that Sonic Boom cartoon show. I doubt this new character will have a significant role in the game.

Hunter is actually my surname, though I have Rorie syndrome, where my last name is used more often than my first. I feel my first name was a missed opportunity, which I hope to capitalize on with my children. If someone introduces themselves as Dragon Hunter, they're either the coolest or the nerdiest motherfucker in the room. No middle ground for my kids.

Whatever niche market Sonic Games appeal to nowadays, it must be big enough for Sega to make money off of it, which is kind of scary.
