I guarantee you, that these ships will not be obtainable in-game for you.  Until 1 payment cycle has been completed.  :  )  
 
Meaning that, they will conveniently take that long to earn. 

The one thing I liked from SWG was the space combat. I was hoping they'd copy-paste a system like that. Instead, we get the damn Gummi ship minigame, probably sans customization. Oh well. Maybe they'll expand on it sometime later.

Meh, still has nothing on Guild Wars 2. 
 
Maybe if the space combat was like the X-Wing games on the Gamecube :).

How do you apply a rails shooter to a MMO? Or is it only single player, if so, why?

Bioware clearly doesn't want to split people between space and ground gameplay, doing it like this makes your character more important, plus they said they would expand on it as the game progresses. They talked alot about customizing your ship (Inside and out) i'm interested how thats gunna work.

While I am interested in this game, I don't get why it would be like starfox instead of a more free-roaming space kinda thing.  While Galaxies had alot wrong with it, the space part seemed to at least start out from a really solid point.

Looks cool. Not really what I was hoping for but looks fun all the same.

Why not just bundle SW: Rebel Assault with the game and call it a day?

Seriously, it looks really, really cool. A lot more arcadey than the static space-combat found in other MMORPGs

It's probably just when you fly between planets, you can either fly or fast travel.  If you fly, you can potentially run into other players "on the way"

Man, those sound effects come straight out of the movies. You would think technology would be slightly different 4,000 years before the events of the movies took place...

I don't think that the game is about space combat guys. It's just filler. Much like the space combat in KOTOR 1 and 2.

Guys, it's obviously just a minigame... A distraction.
I'll take this over an in-game card game, thats for sure.
