Space Combat In Star Wars: The Old Republic

Whoever is in charge of making the NPCs and arbitrarily choosing their proportions needs to be fired double time. 
 
I like stylistic approaches as much as the next guy, but almost all of the NPCs I've seen so far have the ugly stick hanging broken around their shoulders.

I can see why this type of flying shooter won't work. In an MMORPG you're given freedom to be who you want and play how you wish. Then they give you the ability to fly and all you get is a rail shooter? So I can't go anywhere I want in my ship and fly to any destination? Oh well.

The more I see of this game the more boring it looks.

MMO's are about the worst game to judge by their looks.  Wait, "about" is incorrect.  They are the worst.
 
I'm hoping beyond hope that either this or FF14 will be worth subscribing to.  I only need 1 good MMO that's not WoW, rooting for FF14 but this looks like a good backup.

it still has jedi and sith classes as healers. why not make an mmo using the KOTOR formula of no dedicated healing classes? this baffles me because biowares RPG formula without healing classes is really fun and would be great in ToR too in my opinion.

I think it looks like an awesome optional mini-game.

I'm really disappointed by the on-rails nature of the space combat. I was hoping for something more open, because ya know, it's suppose to be an MMO.

Looks like a slower version of Star Fox.   I wish it was like the X-Wing games. I would be content if it was like the Rogue Squadron games.  This...  I don't know...

That first guy's voice does not match his body.

I think most of the people saying this is terrible compared to JtLS are just not paying attention. JtLS was an EXPANSION pack, and the space combat that this trailer displays is what we will get for the vanilla version of The Old Republic. 
 
I really loved the JtLS, but the simple fact is that SOE decided to delay space for Galaxies because it would divert their time and resources from the ground combat (which turned out to be not that great). Bioware wants to have some element of space combat because that is what most people associate with Star Wars, along with lightsabers. A Star Wars MMO without space would be pretty disappointing. 
 
So please everyone settle down and just be happy with what we have. I'm sure down the line there will be an expansion that focuses primarily on space.....And I bet it's going to be awesome.

Star Fox was the first thing to pop into my head as well; will have to wait for a hands-on to see how it works but I was pleasantly surprised at the concept. "

This is disappointing. I wasn't really expecting space combat but this looks even worse than the space combat in SW Battlefront 2.
(I don't mean the graphics, they look quite okay.)
 
I was hoping for more X-Wing, TIE Fighter or even Alliance space combat when I saw that there was supposed to be such combat in SWTOR.

At least it's not another pre-rendered bioware trailer. Kind of getting sick of them not revealing gameplay or ingame graphics. It's one thing to build up your game with hype, but when you compare the E3 pre-render trailer to this gamescom trailer, you're kind of left with uncertainty towards the game's polish.
 
Their budget for Blur Studio creating them these beautiful pre-rendered trailers has to come close to the budget for the rest of the game.

Kind of a let down. Was hoping for more X-Wing and less Star Fox.

They should port Rogue Squadron 2, don't change a thing. I don't care if it doesn't make sense, or if it looks dated by today's standards, it's what should happen. Just make you play levels from that when it's time to fly a space ship.
