@Hashbrowns: Nope. The whole point was that they were trying to change the focus of the game so much that the iconic night vision goggles would not be included on Sam Fisher. Sonar goggles are new so it would defeat the point if they counted.

Indeed, if sonar goggles are used to create a visual representation of the environment even in low light conditions, are they not night vision goggles?  Can Vinny claim that the wager was not about the inclusion of light-amplification goggles?

Didn't Ubisoft JUST delay this game to April 2010?
 
I've seen a few websites say that Ubisoft delayed it because they wanted a strong 2010 fiscal year (which doesn't start until April 2010). 
 
Yet the developer just said Feb release date, since we don't know WHEN Ryan and Vinny recorded this. . .anyone know the latest on when SC:C releases?

It being dangerous for your eye-sight is just a myth. I've been in the army and used military grade NVG and while "guarding" a road a car went driving straight at me whit its high beams on and I had my NVGs on and other then it turning extremely white, nothing else happened. It didn't hurt the eyes or anything.. Also there are some that can filter out light like if a flashlite is shined on your NVGs it just adjustes the brightness and that happens fast so as soon as its dark again its back to normal.

@ITSSEXYTIME: You obviously have very little idea of what goes into a game's design. Being able to see through walls in a stealth game provides several unique gameplay scenarios. For one, if players can see through walls it enables them to plan their moves ahead of time. Given that one of the major gameplay mechanics in Splinter Cell: Conviction deals with tagging targets, being able to see through walls makes A LOT of sense. 
 
Also.. being able to see through walls will allow players to work together much more efficiently in scenarios where they must split up and have to converge on a location from two different spots. The more readily you're able to see your co-op partner, the easier it is to work together. These gameplay ideas are new, and its understandable to have your doubts about them, but your comparisons are weak and the shallow thought that it would ruin a game you've never played is even more narrow-minded.
 
I can't wait for this game, it looks f'in incredible and will most likely be one of the best stealth action games ever released.

Tbh, the concept of sonar goggles ruins the game for me.


Seeing through walls in a stealth game is like not having to reload in an FPS, or having automated character development in an RPG.

It's kind of a bummer they got rid of spy vs. merc. In Pandora Tomorrow, that was and still is my favorite multiplayer game of all-time. Least the rest of the game looks badass.
