Note that we shot this interview BEFORE Conviction got delayed, but it still looks rad.

Posted by Shibbles

Dude on the left has a night vision eye patch. That is doubly badass.

Posted by CaptainApollo13

Woah when did it get delayed AGAIN?!

Posted by Darkstar614

"Confirmed! Ha Ha!"

someone better pay up

It sure has been a while since I've seen a GB interview.

No, that's his actual eye.  I think it's just infected.

Indeed it does look rad.

It's fairly obvious that the game was delayed in order to add night vision goggles to the multiplayer.

It's coming out April now isn't it? Not February.

Hardly. All he confirmed is that there are no night-vision goggles in the multiplayer portion of the game. The bet is and always has been if Sam Fisher wears night-vision goggles, most specifically in the single player campaign. That said...this looks bad for Vinny.

I shall note that.

That is true - and neither of the dudes shown for multiplayer were bad ass enough to be voiced by Michael Ironside.

I guess we'll have to wait until April...

It's kind of a bummer they got rid of spy vs. merc. In Pandora Tomorrow, that was and still is my favorite multiplayer game of all-time. Least the rest of the game looks badass.

Posted by sandwich_adjustment

did you guys delay it by doing the interview and grimacing and rolling eyes while they answered

Do want! RIP Night Vision Goggles!

@ashbash159:
Yeah Ubisoft announced that the game is being delayed again today (after this event).

Tbh, the concept of sonar goggles ruins the game for me.

Seeing through walls in a stealth game is like not having to reload in an FPS, or having automated character development in an RPG.

Posted by mudkip9000

They obviously delayed it to add night vision goggles.

Posted by Siris
@ITSSEXYTIME: You obviously have very little idea of what goes into a game's design. Being able to see through walls in a stealth game provides several unique gameplay scenarios. For one, if players can see through walls it enables them to plan their moves ahead of time. Given that one of the major gameplay mechanics in Splinter Cell: Conviction deals with tagging targets, being able to see through walls makes A LOT of sense.

Also.. being able to see through walls will allow players to work together much more efficiently in scenarios where they must split up and have to converge on a location from two different spots. The more readily you're able to see your co-op partner, the easier it is to work together. These gameplay ideas are new, and its understandable to have your doubts about them, but your comparisons are weak and the shallow thought that it would ruin a game you've never played is even more narrow-minded.

I can't wait for this game, it looks f'in incredible and will most likely be one of the best stealth action games ever released.

Confirmed!  HAHA!

Posted by zombie2011

This game looks B.A.N.A.N.A.S

Posted by foggel

"... in one go" Haha, so the team that develops splinter cell must really love that phrase.

Further evidence that Chaos Theory is the apex of Splinter Cell. IMO
Posted by bjorno

I need me some stealth, I just might pick this bad boy up.

Posted by HatKing

Good ideas in place here.  I'm looking forward to it, might be the first Splinter Cell I can enjoy.  Also good to see the night vision debacle going strong.

Posted by Terjay

Wasn't the bet that will Sam have those goggles in the game?

Posted by AddyMac

If sonar vision works in the dark, does it count as night vision?

Posted by Zeouterlimits
@AddyMac: I guess it depends if they work in the light also. Because NVG generally don't (it can be quite dangerous for your eye-sight).

It being dangerous for your eye-sight is just a myth. I've been in the army and used military grade NVG and while "guarding" a road a car went driving straight at me whit its high beams on and I had my NVGs on and other then it turning extremely white, nothing else happened. It didn't hurt the eyes or anything.. Also there are some that can filter out light like if a flashlite is shined on your NVGs it just adjustes the brightness and that happens fast so as soon as its dark again its back to normal.

No Mercs vs. Spies, no buy. This will be a simple rental for me.

Great! Ryan had to ask!!

crap MP

Posted by ITSSEXYTIME
@Siris:

Yes, it provides unique opportunities but it also makes the game ridiculously easy.  You no longer have to scout out the environment.
