I really liked Nocturne as a kid. I think it's fucking rad the developers used the Blair Witch licensed game as an excuse to make a Nocturne sequel.

Looking forward to Patrick delving further into Blair Witch canon with the newer game (2019).

Wow, word for word Twin Peaks reference in that Diner Scene in Blair Witch Project, "This must be where pies go when they die". Might have to check this game out on my own.

That Blair Witch stuff was hilarious. Definitely seems like something I would have enjoyed at the time... even though it seems pretty bad. I was definitely into that style of game back then, and remember really liking stuff like Dino Crisis, D2, and Carrier.

What's to get annoyed about is the lack of credit the game has due. Read some reviews about the game. Most of them are quite positive. The game was as much a tie-in to Nocturne as it is the Blair Witch setting. If you liked and played Nocturne, which many people did, it was very exciting to have a bridge between the two. Even in the video was saw, if people were paying attention, the tie in is pretty decent. The Blair Witch setting would be an excellent reason for a paranormal defense related organization to investigate. As for the camera angles; no, they are not amazing. But for the time it was something to deal with in order for the game's tech to be able to do the lighting and shadows like it did. Those back-grounds that the shadows are made from/on could not move around, they had to remain static, in order to still be playable on the computers available (as it was, that mess took a MONSTER at the time to play it at the super high res of 640x480.) As for the controls, yeah, by today's standards they aren't good. But imagine trying to put that much functionality onto a keyboard and mouse setup. Aiming independently of moving, accessing equipment quickly with hot-keys. These were issues that people weren't surprised about at the time. As for the facial animations, man, people's faces weren't moving at ALL at that time, never mind changing expressions or speaking.

Not as scary this week, would have liked to have at least one Oculus game. However Blair Witch was fantastic, I could easily sit through a complete walkthrough of that.

So the Blair Witch thing is just a game that they were making that they slapped the Blair Witch IP onto, right?

At the 36 min mark, Tricky is standing in the corner. He was emulating the ending of Blair Witch.

Just noticed the Agent Dale Cooper facsimile at 1:20:30.

Even though the games share the same engine, I am still baffled by the developer tying their Blair Witch game into the Nocturne universe.

The Blair witch game has all the cloth physics you can handle, and more.

Edit: That disappearance halfway through actually got me when I realized he was standing in the back of the room. Bravo Patrick for the Halloween theatrics.

Was that guy in a suit at the diner a Twin Peaks reference? He reminds me of agent Cooper.

Also the coats in this game are amazing, the mouth animation is amazing, those circle transitions are pretty amazing. I want to see Patrick play this whole game.

Loved this episode! Definitely want to see more of that Blair Witch game :-P

Honest question: What's to get annoyed about? The game's background and lighting looks great, even for today, but the story (what little we got of it) was hackneyed and barely connected to the Blair Witch movie at all, the glitches were numerous (and hilarious), and the controls looked positively abysmal even in the Resident-Evil era of tank controls.

I get it that people sometimes like a game for its charm and heart despite its flaws (I definitely have my share) but I don't see Patrick saying anything about this game that it doesn't deserve.

I gotta admit, these laughs are a nice bit of a change-up from all the jump scares.

Yes we need more Blair Witch Project game. All of it!

Totally different Spookin' than we're used to, but still super enjoyable. We need some Blair Witch action every time from now on.

Man, Patrick's accents are always the worst, which makes them the best.

Man, such a bummer he didn't get to play Undying! Hope he fixes that with an extra long playthrough next time!

wow that 2d adventure game is fantastic. PATRICK - I am highly recommending Black Mirror (first game). My fav horrod adventure. not that scary but atmosphere and mystery is well done

The music used in that Blair Witch game is also used in Everyday Genius: SquareLogic. It's trying to set a spooky tone, but instead it's making me think about math.

I don't mind him making fun of an old game because to be fair, some of it looks really funky these days but he did come across as extra extra snarky at times. Still, looking forward to seeing some more BW.

I think my favorite part of the first BW game was all investigating around the town, really interesting at times. Exploring the woods and the combat got really grating after a while.
