haha, i always love when Ryan gets so impatient with Brad during these videos.

One thing that was making life difficult for him is that he was hitting Full Impulse to rush into the battle--but using the Full Impulse command diverts ALL power from shields and weapons.  So you come out of FI with almost no shields, and get pummeled very quickly. 
 
It's best to drop to regular speed at 15 km or so, and let your shields and weapons charge up.

They seem big Star Trek fans remember tiny facts for species, but can't remember basic plot points for Star Wars.

This make me miss Vinny and Jeff in a JRPG Endurance Run even more. I dunno, are they ever gonna do another one?! 
 
Also, why is this filed as a Feature while the Matrix Online one was filed under Endurance Run?

Brad actually says the words: 'It's all a bit wonky.... I guess it's a beta'. 
 If they were reviewing an ordinary game like this then your comments are fair enough. You can't however review an MMO (especially in beta) like that so give them a break!

If you can train your personnel with "evasive maneuver" ability, that would prove very very useful in combat. 
Other abilities such as "attack pattern alpha (beta and so on)", "emergency power to shield" are also useful.
 
And once again, slowing down a bit (and not stopping completely) allows smaller turning radius, so you don't overshoot your target.

As much as the battles do scale in the open party instances, once you have 5 or 6 Federation ships going against a dozen enemy ships it's incredibly fun and the light show keeps things visually exciting.  The Star Trek sound effects are enough to satisfy the trekkie in me.

The escort mission probably wasn't any fun for you to try, it was interesting to watch though.
 
Maybe that's because it was a change from more Orion syndicate space battles.
 
Ryan, I agree that Tasha Yar was terrible.

Someone already said this but I thought I'd reiterate since I made an account just to post this. Your party size determines the difficulty of the mission. When you went in the zone you had 4 so it scaled to 4 even though just you and Vager were there. Also you guys need to use your skill points. Click the top left button to do so.

*sigh* the endurance run just isn't the same anymore 

Don't want to insult you like some other people in this thread have but I think you should play between episodes in the future, it's just too painfully slow watching you wrangle basic MMO concepts.
 
I don't expect anyone to know these things straight away but it's still pretty boring watching someone make basic mistakes over and over again. Atleast if you played "after hours" you could work out the basic gameplay so you don't spend half an hour each episode trying to move inventory items or flying passed enemies at full speed.

I would refrain from echoing what everybody else who is playing this said, except they are all right: Slowing down does make you more effective in combat, missions do scale to your group and for more missions/turning in missions hail starfleet (icon under the mini-map). Also, spend those skill-points. Don't forget to spend them on your officers as well.

I am enjoying the beta, apart from busy/crashing servers that is. But that's par for the course for betas I guess. I couldn't care less if they scrapped the whole ground part though. The MMO gameplay seems a lot better suited to the space parts, but I'm not really a MMO player in general (doubt I'll be playing this after the beta, maybe when I'm done with Mass Effect 2).  

50 percent throttle allows for faster turning than anything between zero and 100. You'll notice the autopilot only uses two throttle settings when in use: full power when going straight, half power when turning hard. Also no matter what the throttle is at, the engine power setting makes an impact.
 
I don't know why your autopilot was messing up. Mine never seems to do the random turning thing, unless a ship is in the way.
 
These need to be broadcast live with somebody manning a chatbox ready to communicate tips to ya'll then rendered into feature quality for those who missed it.

You definately need to take out the BoPs then focus on the warships. Try to get in close and take out the BoPs first.
