Star Wars: Attack Squadrons Could Maybe, Potentially, Possibly Be Cool

A new Rogue Squadron this ain't. Sadly.

Apparently you can sign up for the beta now and the max player count is (only?) 16. A SW themed War Thunder, maybe?

Still wanting a true successor to the X-Wing/Tie Fighter space sim series. This might be a step in the right direction.

If I can fly a B-Wing I may be interested in trying the game out.

I loved the Rogue Squadron games (well, most of them). But the "free-to-play" carries such a negative fucking connotation that my interest in this evaporated before I clicked play.

Sounds like someone recorded the audio from 2 dudes attempting to remember aerial combat dialogue from the Star Wars franchise through an Xbox Live voice chat.

Why does it sound like Han Solo cheering when the Falcon shoots down a TIE Fighter, when he was actually down on the forest moon of Endor during the battle of the second Death Star?

I just wish 1313 didn't get cancelled, although maybe that would have been garbage, we'll never know thanks to Disney. Not that Lucas didn't kill things years ago.

I liked both, but sure, first person cockpit view space shooters are always preferable.

I didn't even know there was a sequel, I only played the N64 game! But, yeah, looking at a gameplay video, that does seem pretty neat. Not sure I'd put it above Independence War, Inferno: The Odyssey Continues or Wing Commander 3 though.

It's great to see the X-Wing in a new game for once. I think it's still one of the best looking fighter designs.

Damn it , just give me another X-Wing vs Tie Fighter! Not these arcade shooters. Bring back the Star Wars space combat sim. You'd think with the revival of the genre starting (hopefully) with Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous, they would want to cash in.

I hate how everything star wars recently is "lets just throw as many references and nostalgia into this thing as we possibly can", instead of trying to do something somewhat original.

Maybe, Potentially, Possibly Be Cool and F2P can't go together, unless someone either makes F2P not unethical or everyone's standards and/or IQs plummet. And the latter (IQs plummeting) is MUCH more likely than the former.
