Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II: Combat Evolved

WHAT WE WANTED TO DO WITH THIS GAME WAS MAKE THE FORCE ALL JACKED UP AND BALLS OUT CRAZY.

Gee, this all looks super cool but feels super retarded.  Killing Star Wars continuity and George Lucas approving of it doesn't help.  What the hells makes this ska groupie so powerful?  Yeah, nothing.  He just is because its a video game.  Fine, but maybe you could have just made a good game featuring Anakin Skywalker.  Instead you get some no name who really didn't do anything in the star wars universe except die.  Oh and he drew the rebel alliance symbol.  Nice.  The light sabers are still bats.  That fact that storm troopers don't die in one hit kills it.  Go play Jedi Knight 2 folks, nothing to see here.

I wonder if the developers have ever played Psi-Ops or Second Sight? Other games have done telekinesis, lightning and almost every other power inspired by the Jedi near perfectly...show us something a bit more creative LucasArts, like electrifying an AT-ST to the point of explosion and THEN hurling it at a crowd of Stormtroopers with dismembered bits flying everywhere!

Did I just hear them say "more realistic" in terms of hitting dudes with swords made of lasers?

With everything that is coming out over the next few months I think I will wait on this one til it drops in price.

I saw the main character hit stormtroopers with his lightsabers and they just got knocked back a little.

I don't know about this game. A lot of the things they were talking about just seemed like standard things to have in games. Yeah, you have enemies that are resistant to certain things, and have specific weaknesses. Oh, and the enemies get harder as the game progresses? Sold!

I stopped playing the first one due to the world powering up with you.  What's the point of being all powerful if everyone else gets to be all powerful too?  From the looks of that video enemies will be using Force "shields" as well.  bah...

GOD! The video doesn't warn for spoilers, I didn't know Vader cut Luke's hand!!! 
 
Nah but seriously looks amazing. I hope the PC version is more than just a shitty port this time.

Bigger crazier and flat out batshit crazy action doesn't necessarily mean more intense. You'd think they'd learn from the mistakes made with the new trilogy about where not to take the Star Wars franchise. I'm glad Lucasarts has new management and are ditching this travesty of an IP and starting fresh. Maybe they'll make another Jedi Knight or Tie Fighter.

Don't know keen I am on exaggerating powers to be all crazy because it's a video game. But this stuff looks cool. And could totally be in a, you know, good Star Wars movie.

Saw some gameplay at PAX. Looks wayyyyy better. And I loved the first one.

Really looking forward to this. I did like the first game. Especially the story but talk about frustrating. I'm hoping the next one lets you skip over animations which bugged me a lot in the first one when I died and had to try again. Just thinking back to blowing open the doors and the 2 storm troopers with that big robot welding a door still pisses me off.

I just wish they'd make another Republic Commando. It was one of the few FPSes (I can think of) that allowed you to revive your squad and BE revived. I loved it for that alone. :(

since the only fun level in the first game was the first one, ill just stick to the demo and then replay it a couple of times if need be...

The first game was fun but had issues, gave me the feeling it was rushed out the door without decent play testing. I really want to get excited for the second one but knowing what happened to the studio after it went gold makes me cringe. I kinda enjoy the "amped up" force powers, for one, a whole game based around the fencing type fighting from the original movies would be pretty boring to me at least.  
 
Just be glade, its a game with the star wars label that doesn't suck as bad as most of the others. Now if they add these powers to ToR, that would be crazy.   

As an avid Star Wars fan, I really don't like how they have to "amp up" all the powers.  I'd rather have a game where the force powers were less extreme, but used to turn the tide of a battle in a tactical and clever way (rather than just a spammy and kill everything on the screen kind of way)

The game looks great visually though, the engine holds up quite well.  

I for one really liked the first one and this just gets me moe excited for the next installment.

Don't they get it? More is not always better...
 
That's partly why The Matrix 2 and 3 sucked.

I love that fact that pretty much everyones idea of "improving" weapons is to just double to weapons the characters are holding. Now you get TWO assassin blades!! Now you get TWO light sabers!! Now you get TWO sub machine guns!!

Looks like they're going a bit over the top with this. The Force in the movies was indeed visible in the form of lightning, but that was also the flashiest and most graphic thing the Force did. It loses its mysticism (?) when you turn it into Dragon Ball like this.
 
And this comes from someone who isn't even a huge Star Wars fan. Does everything have to be over the bloody top to appeal these days? We've got Duke for that, damn it.

Too bad it won't look like this on the Wii. :(

I know that they ARE actually changing a lot of aspects of the combat, but that video didn't really do a great job of showing it.  From that, it looked more similar to the first game than ever. 
Not that the first game was HORRIBLE, but it definitely needed some big improvements.

It's got Sam Witwer in it so it's a day one purchase for me. :D
