This can be an awesome interview. Doctor in tha house?

Posted by Jayzilla

Blaine Christine's parents hate him for naming him that. I like how Ryan tries to fix it by pronouncing his last name Christ-Eye-ne.

Dr. Augustine Yip must be frickin' jealous of their success.

Looking more and more intersting, but really no time for an mmo sadly :(

I think this is going to be the next MMO I am going to play.

Frigging hate instancing so I'll pass.

Need my worlds to feel seamless and not a bunch of loading screens every 30 seconds like Age of Conan.

Blizzard used Phasing so if theres one thing to copy then copy that because it doesn't break immersion.

Posted by Irish87

Awesome interview and I can't wait to play the game, but damn that is a big mic.

Instancing doesn't necessarily mean loading, just that you'll not always be with other players.
Which in my opinion, is a good thing.

Making more of a single player orientated story, where you only meet up with others for key events or PVP and raiding, etc, seems like a better way to handle things.

Starting to get psycked for this game

dude... just call it a mage...

Do you really want to be doing some major story point like attacking a base just to see some other guy has killed everything already?
Posted by PenguinDust

There are 8 classes total now, 4 for each faction.  Trooper, Smuggler, Knight, and Consular  for the Jedi and Bounty Hunter, Agent, Warrior and Inquisitor for the Sith.  Now, I wonder though when we'll get some information on what races are going to be playable.

...What in the world did he say in the beginning?

Posted by FlipperDesert

The Consulate is in the game? Awesome! Now they need to bring in the Sentinel so I can make me a yellow lightsaber. :l

NOOOOOW!

Posted by Driadon

Man, that sounds really really cool. Now, I'm usually not much for large amounts of instancing, specifically with large gind-heavy areas (see Guild Wars), but when it's too actually give a narrative in an MMO (Much less a Bioware one(SQWEE!)) then that is a different story.

Great interview!

Boooooo heavy instanced gameplay. They better be seriously careful with that. Guild Wars for example which is almost entirely instanced makes it literally a singleplayer RPG with a multiplayer element and social hub. Would most definitely not pay monthly for a heavy instanced game. Lets hope they're smart with this, being Bioware I'm sure they will be

I think I'm the only one with zero interest in this game.

Posted by NathHaw

My whole morning was pretty much checking the forums on the official site for all the links to all the places that have released this info today.  My verdict is that the game is starting to excite me, but since WoW, I'm sceptical of all other MMOs.

Posted by Myomoto

Woah, Rogue Warrior QL flashback in the start there..

Posted by Dynamo22

Is it just me or is Ryan really packing on the lbs???

Posted by Milkman

What the hell was going on in the beginning there?...

Anyway, this game seems fantastic. Can't wait.

Posted by Maxszy

I CAN NOT WAIT!

For those complaining about instancing, from this interview it is taking place during story elements and it seems you can control whether or not you go in by yourself or with a party. I wouldn't want my story progression and enjoyment disrupted because it requires me to do something that is gone or not available because someone else is doing it. Especially when the story is going to be good and mean so much in this game.

Seems like they are on the right path. Really hoping for some race options soon though, we've really only seen humans I believe.

This game will probably drain away my life force.

WoW had great world PVP until Instancing ruined it.

EQ had great seamless dungeons where guilds fought over spawns until Instancing ruined it and made everything common and just a grind.

Story can be handled in the seamless world thanx to phasing.

goddamn that begining... AMAZING

Ryan needs a haircut and a little trim on the beard.  Great interview.

Sooooooo excited for this game!

tor... guildwars in space?

Posted by NoXious
@PapaLazarou:

Yea because phasing fixes everything, right?

"Guild: Hey can someone help me with [Group Quest]?"
"Me: Sure!"
"Guild: Where are you?"
"Me: Oh damn, already finished that quest so I can't see you - nor the mob :("

Instancing is fine, as is phasing - they need to find the proper balance between the two and not stick to just phasing.

I'm not gonna lie people, this is a day one buy for me.

Great interview, it's too bad the elephant in the room (everybody wanting to be a Jedi) had to show itself at the end when Blaine's "favourite" character was the trooper.  Suuuure, and I'm a Star Wars fan because I like doctor droids...
Posted by Ineedaname

The characters wont be rejected by parties is awesome.
Never really played an MMO I'm suddenly interested.

Posted by Pakorn
@Brendan: My favorite character in Star Wars is Han Solo - a smuggler. I could give a crap about Jedi Knights, to be honest; and I'm going to assume that Bioware will balance the classes to make me feel just as powerful as a Knight, in my own way.

So they are mages with a fancy name?

Guild Wars however doesn't have a montly fee. I doubt the game will be heavily instanced especially since there's a monthly fee, just key plot points. For example, a city part like in Dantooine on KoTOR you'd see other players but something more plot heavy like getting captured by Saul in KoTOR would probably be instanced.

It could work out just fine, but without knowing how much exactly is instanced we'll just have to wait and see. But I don't think people should be too concerned about it given the fact that monthly fees are typically used for content development and server management, no?

Dude, you never film an interview 'til you've already asked how to say the dude's name you're interviewing. That's how his last name is pronounced.

Someone tell Bioware to put this game on consoles, or I'm not interested. And I don't wanna hear any crap about there not being a  good way to play an MMO with a controller, because I've been playing Final Fantasy XI for 7 years now on PS2 and xbox 360.

They've already released all the classes but Lightsaber colors aren't class specific. So I'm sure you'll be able to make/loot a yellow saber :P
