Great review, Jeff.

I'm not into fighting games but I might rent this one.

Sweet review.

I probably won't pick this up though.  I was never very good at it, my little brother always pounded me in SFII for SNES.

F-ing awesome video.  I'm going to play the crap out of this game when I get it.

Great game greater review! I'm counting days till friday ( european, yup ) but on saturday I'm invited to some kind of Street Fighter IV party at a friends house... We'll have Sho-ryu-kens, Ha-dou-kens, etc. you know, that kind of meal! Cheers!

IN-DE-STURCTABLE!
I used to play Street Fighter ages ago.
I think this is the game that will bring me back to the franchise.
Good review Jeff!

Really good review. "Signifies that you can see things... Like an eye would". Hahah.

I'm getting this game asap.

holy shit STREET FIGHTER IVFINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by FLStyle

How great would it be if the Legend of Chun-Li Chunners turned out to be actually worse than her SF: The movie counterpart?

Unfortunately SFIV has a release date of the 20th in the UK but I'm hoping play.com will post my collector's edition today.

I loved the conclusion.
Awesome review, Jeff.

Putting my (European) pre-order in NOW!

Posted by Eric_Buck

I dislike fighting games. I will be getting this game. Nuff said.

That was a seriously good video review of a game I had next to no interest in but now feel the urge to go and look into more. Great stuff guys!

Edited by stenchlord

I have to say, really bloody good review.

I've been playing this for the last couple hours and it's just as you said, it brings together the same feel as the older games in the series without leaving you feeling like you're playing a dated game.  With my last SF games played being the SF vs series, I've found it impossibly hard to adjust to the "YOU CANNOT BLOCK WHILE IN THE AIR" change. It'll take me a few days to adjust back to the old ways of playing. I'm really pleased with how this game has turned out and I have no doubt it'll be doing well in the sales. I just hope that Australia gets a shipment of the Official Street Fighter IV Arcade Stick.

Also note, SETH IS A PAIN IN THE ASS!

The review and the score doesn't surprise me.

There are 2 types of games that I don't play online. RTS's and fighters...I  suck at both.  And considering that the last Street Fighter game I played was (I think) turbo.  That was the one that you could play as the bosses for the first time....right?  Well it was that one and I don't think I'll be getting into this one.

Great review, Jeff!

Just something about the focus attacks that you mentioned. They can be used as sort of a "parry". But it isn't the same.

Countering in SF4 lets you advance forward without being pushed back by the attack. The difference is that you still do take the damage, but you can regenerate that lost health as long as you do not get hit. This includes getting hit while blocking, you will lose all that health even if you block after you countered.

Whereas parrying in SF3 was meant to give you frame advantage and turn it back around on your opponent without taking any damage. Also to help you get out of a corner, whereas focus attacks won't really help in that area. That's where the EX moves come in.

I can safely say with no manner of uncertainty that this review is IN-DE-STRUCTIBLE

Excellent review Jeff. I seriously lol'd when I saw Dan getting shot out of Seth's blackhole ultramove-thing.

Wow, fanstastic review. By far my favorite. After watching, and reading, your review, I am going to pick this game up. I was actually going to just wait, but from what I've read this game seems perfectly suited for me.

Thanks, Jeff and crew

Hell yeah!

I am exactly the player who would be coming from SFII over to SFIV if I were to buy this. So at least I can feel comfortable knowing that I since I still remember how to throw a fireball, I'll have a better chance to get some good replay out of this for a long time. In today's economy, it's hard for me to spend money on a game without knowing there's replay value, and especially at the $60 pricetag that I'm looking to spend.

I'm also glad that Giant Bomb is around to help point out the game's uses and the variety of players who can appreciate what it's about. This helps me understand what I would be getting into, and I think other players do as well. Now granted I'm not a terrible player when it comes to fighting games, but I can definitely get more involved with them and can see myself getting better.

So thanks guys for posting the review on release day. I appreciate it.

Problem is it takes forever if you really want to learn how to play a fighting game. In some ways it's more like a RTS than a FPS. You can't just jump in and have some fun, you need to know that the flame tank beats the granadier who beats the enforcer who beats the flame tank or whatever. Way too much strategy to think about for my taste...

Tomorrow.  Tomorrow.  Tomorrow I shall have it.  Oh, how I've waited for this day...and didn't even know it for quite some time.  I'm headed for the store with the money.

As a huge SF2 fan, I am beyond happy.  I imagine it must be like the feeling that those huge Star Wars fans got when they first heard of Ep. 1.  Let's hope I don't experience their disappointment.  I don't think I will.

Posted by Reverseface

I think i will get this but i always feel compelled to buy one of the special controllers for it....but i ain't spending £150 for 1 game. Even tho i really want to deep down!! :X

Posted by Scarabus

Haha. My preorder shipped early and I got it today! Woo!

Posted by BenderUnit22

The game looks awesome, but I just never got into Street Fighter back in the days, so I'd just be too bad at it.

Posted by cikame

Throwing a fireball...... right, right, punch?
down, down right, right, punch? no, thats Pauls overpowered punch in tekken.

Sorry, i can't find anything to like about street fighter, never have, the graphics and style really really interest me in this new one but when people say it plays like sf2, i play sf2 and its god awfull, just so flimsy like cardboard is moving around hitting each other with about 3 different attacks, the good people just know when to use 1 of the 3 attacks.
At least, thats how it always feels to me, no use trying to convince me otherwise, i guess i'm just a tekken fan.

Great review, Jeff.  It sounded like Brad was going to pee on the floor during this week's podcast if he didn't make it out to a store soon for a retail copy.
