I can't say for 100% certain since I've only met four characters, but the character you're referring to in that video is definitely not a princess. She's sort of...this perky nurse who's way into bullying the main hero. She totally fits the "childhood friend" archetype though.

@mamba219: So there is no naive princess in this game? Or nurse? There are three chicks in the picture of characters and only one is the badass with the short skirt.

@veektarius: That character is actually weirdly subversive. She looks like a little naive princess as you say, but she's actually a nurse who's way into quarterstaffs. She's kind of reminds me of Chie, just not as cool. But then few are.

Loving the game so far, actually made an unboxing for the Limited Edition along with Dragon's Crown.

If I could get my ps3 to work, maybe. Last of Us seems to have put the final nail in its old hardware.

I wouldn't say futurama is popular but I live in the us for 4 years in college so, I was familiarize with it.

guys, this game is actually really fun, as long as you don't get mad at some slight anime cliches this game is great. me and 2 friends have been playing through this doing co op in the fights, and making fun of the stupid purple mascot thing. It's an excellent game so far and i literally thought i would hate it!

Tales of Graces, while an interesting game, was very underwhelming. This looks better going by this trailer, but given how Graces was, I'll definitely be waiting for this to go down in value before I consider buying it.

Symphonia was the last one I played, but it's also the only JRPG I have beaten multiple times, so I might have to look into this.

The games are often full of problems, but I'm still way into Tales.

If you're buying Tales games expecting you'll get good story and character development, like that video shows, you're doing it wrong.

If you go in expecting awesome flashy 'n functional combat and character building like THIS video shows, you're doing it right!

@epidehl: Interesting, I loved Symphonia, found Abyss really boring and then really enjoyed both Vesperia and Graces F despite their linearity.

@danthegamer32: PS3 newer gen's are region free, the early ones are not. (and in that regard early ps3 games are region locked but new ones are not.)

Fucking loved Vesperia. Bored as fuck by Graces f. Kind of on the fence. Maybe wait till I am aching for a JRPG. Characters make these games last and I'm not sure if this one attracts me.

I'll pick this up if people feel it's better than Vesperia. Not saying that dismissively, but that's the new bar of quality the series needs to reach.

I'm really digging the style of the animated cut-scenes.

If you're making a trailer with just 30 seconds of cutscenes, you may as well throw some gameplay in there too. You know, for people who like that sort of thing.

Honestly, that is the series' charm for me. It's a low-bar, but I love how the Tales of games I've played (Symphonia, Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, Vesperia) has every fantasy-anime-bullshit trope and cliche crammed in to them. There is a "comfort food" quality to it. Arguably, a "junk food" quality.

I have a big back log so sadly I couldn't justify getting Xillia on its release date. I hope to get it soon as it looks nice.

Have no interest in this series, but I do love me some sweet sweet Liam O'Brien narration.

I love Tales of Graces f so this should be good I hope.

I think I might pick this up. I loved Tales of Vesperia, so hopefully I'll like this. Now I just have to find the time to play it.

@epidehl: Same. SO hard. Especially Symphonia and Abyss. Loved them so much and yet after that, they just lost their charm and seemed to be trying so hard to be interesting and just never were again. Here’s hoping.

The Tales games always leave me angry and depressed over just how dumb and cliche every single game and character is. And yet I still buy them and play them. I have a problem.

I've always been a fan of the combat in the Tales games. Run-of-the-mill JRPG storylines, sure, but they change up the combat system just enough in each iteration to keep me interested. 4-player co-op is a blast, also.

I preordered this a while ago on Amazon and completely forgot about its release until I received a shipment notification yesterday. Looks like my roommate and I will have something to do for the next several evenings.

I'm not big into anime or JRPGs but I've been hearing lots of good things about Xillia... for like two years now. The fact that there are no random encounters and fights are all real-time already puts it above heaps of other games in the genre in my book

Edit: But I guess that describes all Tales games. Still, I'm somehow more intrigued by this one than I was by Vesperia or Graces f

okay I know this may be a dumb question but... If I import this game from the states will it work on my UK PS3 Slim? I can't remember if the PS3 is region free or not...

I liked the combat in Symphonia, but that's about it.

I will probably buy this game because im a sucker for RPG's and Adventure games, but I hope the American versions get better voice acting then the other Tails games.

I dont mind the awkward sexiness in the scenes, its part of why i play jrpgs, because of the funny way sex is portrayed, as opposed to the intense way western games portray it.
