Tear Into Some New Darkness II Executions

Played the demo and to be honest I was supremely underwhelmed and uninterested by the hint of what a full game might entail. Most of all, dissappointed.

I really, really loved the first one to bits for all of the core reasons. It had a very dark, gritty, noir story accompanied by a suiting graphical and artistic styling with the 'darkness' really fitting the look, stark noir shadowing, almost black and white. The subway area hub in that game is very realistic and fantasticly realized. The loading screen monologues with that voice actor were great. Shooting was fun, your motivation to continue playing were good, simple control/ui/animation plus a story that was legitamitely dark and serious. Also, that game got scary! Not that I can't say this one won't be, but there were very creepy/intense/dramatic parts in the first game, and the Darkness power/monster felt very real and horrifying- helped again by the noir styling.

What I walked away from that demo, and these trailers, is that this game is decidedly more cartoony. As if they had watched a lot of batman animated series, and played a lot of borderlands. The over indulgence in colors, the borderlands-esque outlining to everything, and the lack of animation priority, accompanied by a MUCH more decidedly comic book look really seems to lose the feeling from the first game. I can't say the game is bad, but it's bound to be much different from the first, and with additions like upgrade systems, silly looking characters and a (I think) new voice actor, it does not appeal to someone who was in love with the atmosphere/story/characters/animation priority of the first one. Bummer!

Oh my god, am I excited for this. BTW: has it been confirmed yet if Kirk Acevedo is not doing the voice? I've seen a little bit of info on yes, a little on no. I mean c'mon; it kind of ruined Fringe for me, for a few seasons. I kept expecting Charlie to talk about his friend Crazy Abdul.

With a Wishbone like that the wish has gotta come true.

Unless a bad port kicks me in the face, every game is first choice pc. I had the Xbox 360 origonal and it was good (and also a great game), just to say it though.

Oh the dilemma...PC or Xbox? I had the original on Xbox 360 (are there any bonuses for having the original in your profile?), but I'm in love with PC gaming, especially PC games with Steam Achievements.

Not really. How much sex did MK have? Or L4D2? It's more the violence that we inexplicably go for banning.

If it's sex, I believe it's down to it being incentivised in the game (if you're given a reward/bonus or something for it - which now that I think about it would mean God of War 3 should've DEFINITELY been banned, considering the sex gives red orbs and the violence was crazy over the top).

Also...don't give the OFLC any ideas about banning!

Anyway, I'm still not sold. I really liked the first game, didn't like the demo of the second at all. Maybe if the multiplayer turns out to be good I'll get it but the singleplayer so far doesn't look interesting at all.

Really looking forward to this game.

But ya, same here. Probably pick it up next time; by the time I'm finished with it, Darkness 2 should have dropped in price. I enjoyed the demo, but not going to pay $60 for it.

Yeah that and the Butcher (I think that's what it's called). Anything where you split the guy in half, really.

I've seen the first game on the shelf a lot at gamestop and it peeked my interest. Picked it up for 5 bucks and have been happy with it so far. It is an intense game and has some great writing. Can't wait to play the sequel.

Maybe, but for the wrong reason. The Darkness was violent for a start, but it didn't end there by any means.

I think this trailer really shows the great use of reverberant colors with the swish of life being such a exciting thrill. This trailer captures what it means to be alive. I hope that people will watch this trailer and find themselves changed like I do when I ever look the the Mona Lisa. So many questions left unanswered is she smiling is she happy or is she sad and putting on a brave face. Was she pregnant how many years did she spend posing. Do we even know if that smile is real? Has a man ever put his penis towards the paintings mouth? These and many other things we will never know.

This trailer races many questions. Why is he smiling what is that look in his eyes. Has a man ever put his penis towards his mouth? As I say the swish of life is through out this. So I wonder......What does this mean for life?
