Combat looks kinda meh but man does it look pretty

Infinite!

Looks awesome too. This has to be a build they put together just for this showing, so I am really excited to see more of this.

Bees got nothin' on crows.

This looks amazing! Cant' wait till it comes out.

yo how about a horse MADE of armor?

When I first saw it, I thought the whole thing was scripted. On the Bombcast, Jeff mentions that it was being controlled live while he watched it.

So, apologies for my cynicism.
This now looks like the coolest thing ever.

This will be the greatest game ever made.

excellent, i can finally get the proper HD version of this now :D

I should probably play the first BioShock...
This looks goddamn amazing.

please rename this video title to 10 minutes of awesome.

the painting on the wall changes at around 5:55, I wonder what that is about.

Alright. I'm back in.

Was Shawn Elliott promoted to level designer by the time this "level" was created? The way the player is lead from one place to the other without feeling too on-rails - despite literally being on rails for some of it, der hur - is very well-done. It seems like something Shawn Elliott's fascination with behavioral psychology would contribute greatly to.

This whole demo is just mind-boggling incredible. I'm seeing things I haven't seen in games before, and so far away from its final release too. Bioshock Infinite is gearing up to be an industry-defining juggernaut.

This is now the game I want play most!

Gameplay, my ass.

Posted by ka_tet19

looks very scripted, makes me wonder if this video isn't "gameplay" that we will actually see in the final version, rather a nice way of showing off a lot of the game's elements in the game engine.

either way looks really cool, can't wait

This is just breathtaking.

Video games are amazing.

Ok, this is a nitpick and I'm not saying the game won't be great, but can anyone look at that floating building and think for a second that it wouldn't fall like a rock?  Have you seen a hot air balloon?  The bag part which provides lift has to have WAY more volume than the basket it's actually lifting.  Those 4 measly little blimp things holding up that giant building is exactly as crazy as if Rapture had screen doors. Not even touching on the fact that it's obviously top heavy. Definitely more form than function in this game's design, not that that's a horrible thing. Just makes me laugh.

Looks far too scripted to be gameplay, really. Even if you ARE playing it live, it'd probably just feel like a really long interactive cutscene.
Apart from that and a few graphical glitches, this game looks like it's gonna be pretty sweet.

@numberThirtyOne dude, you can shoot crows at people. Not exactly the most realistic game ever

I had the same feeling watching this demo as I did playing through the original Bioshock, and that's a feeling I thought I wouldn't get from another game for a long time, let alone from the same guys. Games like these are usually few and far between, and I didn't think the lightning would strike twice, but they have definitely managed to make me want to know about the world and story, and it's pretty clear they have some crazy ideas for the gameplay. I'm way more interested in this now, I just hope the Bioshock branding doesn't hinder the team's vision for Infinite.

It's quite irrational, isn't it ;)

Considering their attention to detail and the pretty good physics seen in the demo, it wouldn't surprise me if they had some sort of contrivance to explain the smaller balloons holding up entire buildings (or even city blocks?) These folks living there certainly aren't your cut-and-dry Americans.

Down that same vein, I remember similar thoughts in Bioshock 1, though I'm at a loss for specific examples. I do remember thinking that some things I saw would be impossible at that depth, and the pressure would probably do some terrible things to the human body.

Is that actual gameplay? Looks very scripted.

I'm finally actually interested in bioshock

This looks fucking awesome. The setting is just amazing.

Just like the first one, regardless of what people say. It was a milestone in gaming's history

Yeah, it seems like gameplay from someone who knows what to do and isn't being given directions.  Like, there's no HUD, and you have to imagine you'd at least be getting objective arrows, or how would you know when to slide on the rails or what door to break down with your foot?

Jeff has said in the Bombcast that this was played in front of him.

Looks amazing!

:D

It looks alright, but I can shake the feeling that this would be a more interesting game if there would be less focus on (scripted) combat and more focus on free form exploration (Metroid Prime style).

Posted by Kajaah117
@ozzdog12: Absolutely. I hold the first Bioshock up to the same standards as Half-Life 2 as an industry-changing first-person shooter/adventure game. The wait for Infinite is going to kill me.
Posted by 234r2we232

Is this the new BioShock Wii game?

Posted by Ghost407

Can't fucking wait...

Posted by snorge

Holy shit, this looks awesome!

Posted by roroc007

I am tempted to buy a giantbomb membership just to see this in HD!!

Posted by GetBentTheVideoGame

Of course this is all scripted. The game is two years off. It's basically a target render, but all in game. It demonstrates the amount of potential the game has, which seems immense.

Posted by metalsnakezero

Didn't like how they had to put Bioshock in the title but from this 10 minute look this is on another level.

Posted by oliveshark

Sold. If this is just a taste of the gameplay then I'm in. The BioShocks didn't interest me, but this has peeked my interest like nothing else.

And like they said on the bomb cast, that they showed gameplay footage and not another CG trailer (which probably would have looked awesome) will keep people waiting for this game.

Oh well, who cares... that was awesome.

Steampunk awesomeness is awesome.

Posted by Insectecutor

holy... effing... shit.

I know there were a lot of scripted elements here and yes it's hard to tell what's gameplay, but fuck I enjoyed watching that so much that I don't care! Only a total douche would complain that there's awesome scripted sequences.

Even the blue sky is something amazing and refreshing to see in a modern FPS.
