Not sure about the emotional resonance but State of Decay is looking amazing. Some trailers on Youtube you should really check it out if you haven't seen it. Scavenging supplies/food, fortifying your shelter, it's all there. It looks a little janky but it's an open world, 3rd person zombie survival game that can be played coop on XBLA so I can easily overlook it. I think it could easily be a retail product, really looking forward to it.

This has none of the impact the previous trailer did - both direction and overall production values - but once again I'm left wanting a zombie game with robust survival/scavenging systems, and some emotional resonance.

Whoever writes and directs these cinematics should write and direct the game.

These trailers are great, too bad I have no interest in the game itself.

Dead Island is one of my most played games this generation, so a revisit to the same location would be a bummer. A bummer and a no sale.

I don't know about this one.......I mean, the first was a genuine surprise with a trailer that I thought was pretty captivating. This just seems like they are trying to bring back the sentimentality without any of the creativity, and falls flat because of it. Furthermore, I'm not ready to embark through another Dead Island campaign, and even though this game comes out next year, it feels as if it's way too soon.

Those zombies were trying to stop those idiots from starting a gas explosion.

So you get one the better RPG makers and get this trailer creation crew together and you get that deep and thoughtful, and beautiful and haunting looking Dead Island . . . then you put the lime in the coconut.

Your opinion =/= Everyone's opinion. I'm keeping a close eye on Riptide. (Though I do have to say if they're really reusing as many resources as the premise seems to indicate, I am very disappoint.)

Dead Island was one of the best game experiences I've had. It was pants crapping scary to hear the screams of the running undead and not know where they were coming from, how many, if you should run or stand your ground. Most jump scares I've had from a game in recent memory. For me it was the game that best captured the horrific vibe of terror, hope/hopelessness, being constantly under threat, that zombie fiction, at it's best delivers.

I still remember with frightened fondness the city hall section of the game, where at first it seems you've found a stable sanctuary, but after a mission, return to find all hell has broken loose, everyone's dead/undead, and you are in deep shite!

Omg I am so happy the first one was one of the best games to come out in 2011.

Does it have hammers that make zombies fly across the map?

If yes, I will eventually get it on sale.

If no, who cares?

love this trailer.... too bad, jut like the original Dead island trailer, the game isnt gonna be as emotional, the only way they willl trick us THIS time is if they add similar emotional moments in Riptide, but i kinda doubt it (still keeping my fingers crossed though).... I personally love Dead Island, but, to this day IMO I wish we could have saved that family instead of watching there fates... at least the mother (who didnt seem to get bit as far as i noticed) -_-;

The opening area was fun in the first one, but the jungle and city kinda sucked the fun out. Never finished it, so not super excited about this one. I still like the idea behind it though. Too bad the execution wasn't quite there. Maybe this one will be better?

I would say maudlin is probably the perfect word to describe the trailer. I question the tone of it, to be honest, considering we know that Dead Island wasn't exactly going to be a emotionally touching game, and chances are neither will this.

Give me a trailer full of dudes goofing off whilst playing co-op, that would get me excited.

Dead Island was a very pleasant surprise (other than the last couple levels at the end). Here's hoping this is fun, too.

PS3Trophies already had a preview of the game. It's basically Dead Island but everything is flooded and you have to use boats to get around. Some parts the water are still low enough for you to move around but you're probably slow and obviously zambies everywhere.

Same characters with 1 new one. Not really surprised Giantbomb didn't have anything on it seeing as how this was at Gamescom 2012.

Man, I dunno. I know Dead Island got a little jacked about 3/4 of the way through the game, but that opening section was wonderful. I also didn't mind some of the stuff in the jungle. The DLC wasn't particularly indicative that Techland knew what made the game "fun", but here's hoping they can keep it together for Riptide. Who knows, maybe that DLC was already well in the works before reviews started rolling in.

First game had it's merits as long as you were happy with the side quests being vastly better than the story ones and the main plot being shit. As long as they keep the analogue combat system this could be worth a go.
