Hmm I just bought the humble bundle at the average, so I got Civ V and Gods and Kings. Should I play my first game of V with Gods and Kings or not? I was thinking of starting with the base game.

FYI the new Humble Bundle is 15 bucks for everything Sid Meier including Brave New World. I don't know if it includes all of the DLC, all the various new civilizations, but it's good enough for me.

Was gonna say that. I would suggest GB adding an update to the blurb under the video title though saying that its on humble bundle. Might make the charity a bit of extra cash?

Already have everything Civ. I don't need more. I can still waste hours playing it, but am looking forward to playing a completely new Civ. Civ VI, I'm ready for it.

I thought Civ V is great, but games start to drag until you get the modern day and futuristic toys..

After I got bored with Civ I've started getting into the Paradox games (EU4, CK2, Vic2, Rome) And I feel like that's a real step up. Much more detailed and a more historical feel. I like the idea of trying to survive history or change history rather than making it up like Civ.

I think they're competing with FF IV for most release of the same game. That's 5 now i think?

All these years later, complete editions don't sound any less shitty. But I guess it's better than the frivolous game of the year editionalternative.

@chaser324: I always play random matches also. As a kid I loved playing on the Earth map with the civs in their (more or less) proper starting locals

@sabin1001: That Humble Bundle will be around for one week, and normal people walking past the PC games at Target will be wholly unaware of it.

Yeah, not sure what they were thinking putting this out at the same time as the new Humble Bundle that has pretty much everything for $15.

You could get this, or you could pick up Europa Universalis IV and Conquest of Paradise and colonize the New World as like, Ming, or the Papal States or whatever. Though it's interesting to see the two strategy giants competing like this.

So Gods and Kings isn't in the Complete Edition? Because I've been looking to get that expansion and this seems like a good time for it!

Edit: read that wrong, it's the Civ IV Complete edition in the bundle, not V. Still looks good!

I have the free version of CivV that came with my copy of X-Com and I never felt like buying the dozen or so DLCs/Expansions, so I guess this is aimed at people like me.

@authenticm: It does feel like the game is finally how it should have been on release eh? Pity I'm a sucker for Civ and have been buying it piecemeal for the past 4 years. SHUT UP SID MEIER AND TAKE MY MONEY.

Does anyone know if this will come to Mac? I don't own a PC but I've been waiting since this game came out to get it. I've held off on buying this as I knew they'd release a complete edition but I'm disappointed there's no announcement regarding a Mac version.

I already own all of the expansions, but I guess it's a good way to get in on it if you waited for some reason.

Here's my question: do people actually play the scenarios in Civ games? I always just go with random matches.

Some people really do, which, yeah, is madness. I don't do random matches though. I set up a world as a big as possible then reduce the AI to just 2 or 3 opponents. Put the game to the slowest speed. Then I build for thousands of years before running into anybody and when I do it's wild.

Just thought I'd share that...

anyways....

I wish there was an elegant way for people who bought some DLC but not all to upgrade. Come on already huh? Can't be that hard to do. Steam checks if I own the game already. If I do, apply a discount. Done.

Well, alright. Fine. I'll bite.

At this point, it's much, much, much more than just a director's cut or something. It's practically a whole 'nother game compared to my vanilla Civ V, and it's not like I didn't enjoy my time with that anyways.
