The Combat of Lord of the Rings: War in the North

Looks pretty good :D. I'll play it.

Looks decent, but I wouldn't be surprised if its pure shit like every other LOTR game. I'm sure all of this is what Tolkien was looking for out his legacy.

I really wish they would stop trying to say that the action in this game is somehow true to the books. We all know it isn't, just let it go.

Looks like a Devil May Cry/Bayonneta style game, but without the crazy combos...

I am just gonna wait for Skyrim and get my fill of high fantasy there.

Actually the combat was the book's weakest point.

This started out well enough. I was excited to see it was Snowblind (of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and Champions of Norrath fame) working on a new action RPG. But this video quickly killed that. It looks just like the Lord of the Rings games from last generation. And half the video going on about the game's big feature being... dismemberment? Meh.  

i think they really need to give up on the lord of the rings video game idea. 

It's taken a long time, but I've grown really weary of 'Developer Diaries'. Just call them 'Soundbyte Diaries' and get it over with.

Why the living hell do we have another LOTR game?  Can't
these guys come up with their own fantasy game world?
Isn't there already an LOTR online already?  It's played out.

This looks.... awful. Not precisely the game this Lord of the Rings fan has been waiting for.

The choppy choppy does look kinda fun.  Like Soldier of Fortune with swords.

All they talk about is how awesome chopping of heads and limbs is, still it doesn't look very convincing at all looking at that video... :|

This is the first Lotro game I've been excited for for years.

Looks good enough for a rent I'd say.

Is it wrong if a man wants to legally marry a videogame?

Why are people complaining about the violence not being in tone with the books when the lady-character can rapid-fire magic missiles while aiming from the hip like a third person shooter? I'm pretty sure that's a bit more of a departure from the books than some severed limbs.

But still, kind of looking forward to this game.

Listen I am no fanboy to the Lord of the Rings series or to the films but I think tolkien envisioned a brutal

war-torne world because it represend the horrors and experiences of  WW1 and WW2 which tolkien took to heart having faught in WW1 and also having a son fight in WW2.  Building on the brutality of the series no matter how good it could be seems to diminsh entierly what tolkien was trying to teach.  Because violence is clearly where this game is being aimed I hope they can bring A LOT of emotion and story to the table to expaned on what tolkien wanted.

P.S. I would love to lope the head off an orc

They sure love their slow motion. It feels like this video is about 3 times as long as the original footage.

This doesn't look like a $60 game. I'd be willing to be $30 for it, tops.  Also, I thought we were past the Lord of the Rings.

Movement and combat looks stiff as hell.
