I'm wondering if that little hovering ball thing actually does something?

Good VR, completely lost the interest I once had over this game.

He is like a great philosopher of games, so well put Jeff, good review!!!

Posted by linkforever1

The score seems a bit harsh but the title does seem pretty mediocre.  The video review didn't feel very thorough though.

Jeff: One of the great minds of our time.

Dont know about any of you guys, but i love it when a t shirt is upfront about its true identity!

Posted by Drrizzit

Ya thats how i thought it looked

Posted by Atomasist

I'll rent this one.

Posted by Linkyshinks

Deserved review score. any more than two would have been too much.

Thanks.

Posted by ghostNPC

very very good review. most reviewers aren't picking up on Jeff's points.

Posted by El_Rickhead

never really did see the appeal to this game, it doesnt bring anything new to the table, it just looks prettier than the rest of the shooters on Wii, do not want

Game's garbage. I agree though, we shouldn't be nice to these games just because "well, for a Wii game it's good". No. This is 2009, a game needs to be good no matter what console it's on.

Posted by MjHealy

Great review Jeff. Well put.

Posted by MetalR

This game is bad

thank you Jeff Gerstmann <3

No, he said this is the only PURE FPS on the Wii (no platforming or puzzle solving at all)

That T-shirt is way better then this game.

Posted by Mus

I was looking forward to it, but it is a big let down.

Posted by Light_Bahamut

Probably one of the better video reviews I've ever seen in terms of clarity, voice, and content. Quality work fellas.

way to set the record straight as usual, jeff.

Real talk.

Controversy! He gave one of the best shooters on the Wii a 2 out of 5! He must be a bias fanboy!
/sarcasm

Nice video review jeff. You made some good points there.

T-Shirt!

Jeff's analysis was spot on the mark, some highly developed critique here. I really couldn't have put it any better myself. One of the best video short video reviews I have seen anywhere on the web.

Posted by Reverseface

Jeff has redeemed himself in my eyes, the quicklook made jeff seems like he was totally bashing the wii again. But this video review was done clinically and straight to the point and i respect that.

T-SHIRT!

Posted by Hamz

Yup I think the first bit where he mentions that the excuse people use "For a Wii game it's great" is really not valid anymore these days.

Great review and definately the finest review I've seen for this game to date. Good stuff chaps!

Posted by TripMasterMunky

Idk why people got hyped over this game in the first place, it always looked super generic to me. Breif but deserved review. I agree "good for a Wii game" is a stupid statement. The game is either good or not.

Posted by Metal_Mills

I can see this was made because of all the hate towards the review. I totally agree with you Jeff. "Good for a Wii game" isn't good enough in my opinion.

Posted by SuperfluousMoniker

I wanted this game to be good because I liked how Metroid prime played, but oh well. Guess I'll wait for the Prime Trilogy thing to get my Wiimote FPS fix.

Short and....sweet?

Posted by Carlos1408

That was a great review, the arguments were very well expressed and I totally agree; common people this is 2009!

Posted by KnifeySpoony

I really appreciate you taking the time to express your review in video form. You made some points that I think even the biggest fanboy can agree with.

T-Shirt!
Did you get that at the Sausalito Ferry Company?

Nice review Jeff.

Nice and clear review, however a couple of points that don't sit well with me. Before I continue I'd like to make clear that don't have the game yet (live in Europe), but looking at videos and reading other reviews there are a couple of points I miss in this review.

1) One thing that seems to be missing out is the customizable control scheme, although this most definitely does not safe the game for its short comings the reviewer makes it very clear that he did not look into this nor was aware of this. Thus his complaints on this area are diminished and stating that everyone is bound to the same control scheme online is simply not true :).
2) While I agree that the art style isn't what you could hope for one of the more beautiful aspects seem to be the enemies and weapons, for me at least, so I was kinda surprised Jeff took these elements as examples to detail the poor art style. From the earlier builds I was a little dissapointed by the blocky level design which, from what I have seen, hasn't changed that much. So that would be a bigger gripe for me than the enemies and weapon designs because I think these look pretty slick.

But all in all I think HVS made a smart move not to go over the top with art design and simply offer a solid FPS. Games the hardcore crew generally like tend not to sell very well on the Wii, point in case MadWorld and No More Heroes. This might be their way to make the game appeal to a broader audience, since they have the only 'pure FPS' on the Wii at the moment there is not much point to appeal solely to the hardcore fans as they have little options to run to (besides jumping to another console / sticking to a PC ;)). I hope that this game will spark interest with this extended (or causal) audience so The Conduit 2 can go the extra mile and offer an experience more suited for the traditional gamers and pull people over the line to try some other games rather than Barbies fun house or whatever those game are called.

In the eyes of many people this is one of the games that will be used in the industry as a benchmark to see how 'mature' or 'hardcore' games can fare on the Wii and will influence their decisions about future endeavours. And maybe, maybe take the Wii as a serious platform... A man can dream right? :)

This game is terrible.  I can tell you that personally.  If you want a good FPS for the Wii, I suggest getting Call of Duty: World at War and Metroid Prime 3/wait for Metroid Prime Trilogy.
