Wonder if it'll be at all recognizable.

Home sweet home.

Wait, this game doesn't have Dunkin' Donuts in it? I'm out.

Posted by BaneFireLord

He totally shoved that musket through that dude's back and shot that other dude with it while it was still embedded in the first dude.

Stoked!

Posted by Nokturnal85

Oh my this is going to be money!

Posted by S0ndor

Goddamn, it's kind of shocking how much they are still able to innovate.

I want Dunkin Donuts DLC

Good lord this looks amazing.

As someone who lives in Boston, I can say with some confidence that this is a 100% accurate representation. Especially the giant rats and redcoats wandering around (replace them with Sox fans)

Alright, sold.

No more trailers for me.

replace the giant rats with Sox fans?

Posted by captain_max707

I never bought one of these, and probably won't, but this looks really sweet.

Posted by RXSideEffect

Can't wait to run around my city. Some real brutal assassinations too- you may take my money now.

Posted by Turkalurch

Man it's fricken fantastic how they can continuously surprise you with new features.

take my damn money, ubisoft!

Thinking back on the original AC, this series has come a long way.

Posted by Humanity

I think it looks good but not sure where the innovation comments are coming from. This is basically the same stuff the previous AC have had albeit with some tweaks. Jumping into a moving hay cart isn't a real box bullet point for me.

Posted by bassman2112

@Talis12: Nah, the giant rats have endured the test of time and have earned their place here. The redcoats got out of here once America decided it was grumpy being all colonial-like, and were replaced by rampant Sox fans. It especially sucks living near Fenway when they're playing the Yankees - it can be chaotic.

Lockpicking is for sissy thieves, real assassins just punch through locks, way more badass!

Just noticed this myself.  That should be the lockpicking mini-game in all games from here on out.

Is the combat still ass? I bet it is.

I love how they say blend, because some guy in a hood randomly joining in with a group of civilians is totally normal and won't raise any alarms at all.

Aside from that it looks good, but these games deserve more criticism for their combat systems.

Posted by BasketSnake

He sure carries a lot of equipment for blending in so easily with the other citizens.

Posted by aquamarin

Wow I'm shocked. This setting just looks fantastic, like the game series was always meant to be here. Good thing I don't like Splinter Cell because Ubisoft really seems to be knocking it out of the park with their offerings on the horizon.

Looks real sharp!

This just looks fantastic. Allready pre-ordered it!

Has it been confirmed that Jesper Kyd is composing the soundtrack again?

Combat....ass? Does not compute. I think the combat is fantastic in these games. Well, maybe not the first, I didn't really play that one enough. But the second one, and especially Brotherhood, had great combat.

Posted by Predasus

I'll just shoot this guy with an arrow to distract his buddies and stroll onto this ship even though I'm the only one wearing a bow within 100 miles! Then I'm going to pick up a musket with a bayonet attached and stab someone through the back, shoot his buddy THROUGH him, and then push another guy off the ship before he even knows what happened without anyone raising alarm ... oh and afterwards I'll just climb up to the top of this ship and stare over the city ... man ... bath salts are CRAZY!

...what? One person attacks you at a time while everyone else watches like morons, all you have to do is wait for a counter to insta-kill, rinse and repeat.

The Witcher 2 is how to do modern third person sword combat, or heck, take a page out of Arkham Asylum/City's book, I'd rather that than the craptastic combat we have now.

Yeah, I disagree completely. You saying it needs the combat from batman made me laugh though.

Witcher 2 does have great combat, but it also has magic, which isn't really the same as this. Not all games need the same combat, also I never look at Assassins Creed is the same type of game...

Just add a button where I can skip all the Desmond tetris puzzles and we're good.

I'm glad you had a laugh at something that I never actually said. "page out of" does not translate to "NEED, MUST HAVE!" At least the combat in Batman requires a degree of thought and consciousness.

The magic is irrelevant, the swordplay, parrying and generally flow is way better and challenging than the Assassin's Creed series. That's the point, the combat is bad and it should have been improved by now. It has received barely any changes since the second game. People still stare at you while their buddies take you on 1v1 and get slaughtered...great game design and oh so authentic.

I'm done here.

It won't be, because it's a completely different city then it was then. Even the street layouts have changed dramatically.

Dude, what? Mayan mystery quest as a fucking pre-order bonus? Seems like a lot of original assets would be used in a place like that... An awful lot of effort to go through for Gamespot's pre-orders...

Oh, yeah, I forgot, they usually release this shit later on as part of the DLC initiative. Yay, video games are fun again.

Actually it is authentic. In real life sword fights 10 guys aren't going to all go swinging at one guy at the same time, that's a recipe for disaster. But regardless, learn what an opinion is.

None of this sneaking and stealthing seems stealthy. This is more what a Gears of War player would call stealth.

Dude, does this look good or what?

Absolutely can't wait for this.

Posted by GERALTITUDE

I don't have a problem with stealth-lite games like AC. Mostly I want to play this one for the setting. Agree with the comments about Kenway sticking out like a sore thumb. Part of me really hopes there is more period/culture appropriate clothing for him, and that they were just worried that losing the trademark look would alienate fans.
