Well, I guess if Year of Luigi is allowed to continue.... who's to say Dota should stop?

I'm to say!

woohoo up so fast, been at work and its here for when I get home. Drew and Brad you are legends are how fast you have turned this around.

I love Brad and I have learned so much from The Daily Dota. But it's getting so hard to watch Brad play!

Exactly how I feel. I got into Dota because of this stream, but for someone who loves Dota so much and has played it way more than I have, Brad sure is terrible at it.

Always enjoy watching this, for no specific reason I can outline, despite not playing nor ever intending to play Dota 2. I played a brief enough period of lol to understand what is going on, and context clues fills in the rest. For whatever reason, it's a lot of fun! Glad to see it's back up quasi regularly.

Oh Brad, you are so bad at DOTA.

Need a Crispy cam, seems to be where all the action is lol

I hated this feature initially, thought MOBA's were stupid and thought it was a waste of time to do a daily feature of it.

This steam didn't change that for the longest time but eventually I got into Dota2 somehow and after 400+ hours I can safely say I love this feature even if Brad is pretty terrible at it.

Really hard to watch that first match. But that BS wasn't any good either so at least Brad can take solace in that. Also second the Crispy cam notion, would love to see his camera, especially the invoker match.

Love you Dota & Brad but .......
"Well, I saw that coming" - Brad
Then why the flying F are you still sitting there!?!?!

I love having the feature up, even if it is only semi-regularly. Although you could bring it back daily for now because there are no games coming out. Since the feature started I now have 80ish games of Dota and it's nice to see with Brad some of the mistakes I'm making he still makes. Or when Pascual pops his illusions right before Lich hits his ult.

Also, never pick DK.

Great stream, as ever.

Why would Emiya Caelum (as lifestealer) prefer to abandon the last match, rather than lose it?

Posted by dusker

I haven't watched this feature for a while, and so when I turned this on I really thought that Brad would have improved a bunch since the last time. But, man, that dual offlane with DK and Leshrac was so, so hard to watch. Both DK and Leshrac not even trying to go for last hits or denies, and constantly being harassed by the Lion. DK going for quelling blade instead of stout shield, but not last hitting. That awful ward that covered basically nothing. And then getting ganked by the Nightstalker hard, even after the Bloodseeker told them a gank was coming. So nuts.

For people who have been watching this, were they just having a really bad game, or do these things happen often?

Posted by Flavbot

You guys should have Refleksy on more often.

Posted by Nigthguy

Brad really hasn't improved much since he started playing, has he? I guess as long as he has fun getting carried it's fine, but it sure ain't fun to watch him make the same dumb mistakes multiple times in a row and feed, so I stopped watching after 20 minutes.

you guys that watch this but dont play...seriously - you should download it and give it a shot. everyone in the giantbomb chat is cool and welcoming...and once you start playing, its the only game you'll ever need.

Because he is stupid.

Or he really likes low priority queue.

Brad, the whole point of Soul Ring on DK is to use it + Breath Fire to get easy last hits.

Those things always happen.

I'm not even sure why. I think Brad just wants the stream to be "entertaining", so he switches up heroes all the time, without realizing that he just doesn't have the experience/skill to afford to do that. There are a lot of heroes that he doesn't really seem to know how to play. He thinks playing the small number of heroes he kinda knows would be boring to the viewers, I guess. Maybe he's right. I'll say that we've almost never seen good DK play from Brad on camera.

As much as Brad has logged 657 hours into Dota 2 according to his Steam profile, I don't know that he has actually learned and applied anything new in the past few hundred hours since this feature started. I know he has said the best part of his experience with the game is how he always plays with friends, and as long as he's having fun that's fine, but I do think it might explain why he largely relies on the knowledge pool of those friends. Were he to solo queue, maybe he would've been forced to learn some of the harder lessons that still elude him. He's still really reliant on guides for items and skills (leading to him not taking ult at 6 in the Bounty Hunter game because he blindly took the skill the guide suggested).

The Daily Dota crew seem to largely win games where one or more people are feeding Crispy. I haven't run the numbers or anything, but the games where Crispy is not a carry tend to go much worse. It's not that I dislike Brad or this feature, but that's pretty much the truth.

This is all correct.

I cut my teeth in DOTA2 by solo queueing, and reading articles/watching videos that explain how to play the game. Brad clearly has done none of the requisite practice or research to make himself at the very least mediocre at the game. I don't think he has much of an interest in learning a lot of the ins and outs, or playing without his friends though, and he seems to be having fun, so good for him I suppose.

That said I still enjoy watching these videos, mostly because I enjoy the banter between Pascual, Crispy, and him, also Crispy is genuinely pretty good at DOTA, so hearing his insight sometimes is educational and interesting.

Basically, don't come to this expecting to watch Brad play high end DOTA, come to listen to the banter and hear the occasional nugget of useful information from Crispy.

@huey2k2: Yeah, this feature is largely "Crispy as the Pewdiepie of Dota 2" for me. Crispy, you so outrageous and silly. And also actually pretty good at either figuring out something smart to do, or if the game is totally gone, figuring out something hilariously stupid to do.

Also I really miss Kessler. His bad jokes gave the feature a certain amount of life, though Pascual makes similarly bad jokes so that's OK.

Thankfully I don't find Crispy similar to Pewdiepie at all, because I absolutely despise Pewdiepie.

Posted by BisonHero

@huey2k2: Yeah, he's not that similar, but I think he has a similarly...playful manner of speech to Pewdiepie, and also the yelling/blowing out his mic, except Crispy doesn't get nearly as irritating.

With a risk of sounding like old Ben Kenobi here, I think Brad needs to start acting on his intuition. Not just listen to it, acting on it. I have realized that every time I think "I shouldn't be here now, let's just clear the creeps and get out" I should actually get the fuck out immediately. Don't even stop to ask why you got a bad feeling, just run. Even if you're right only 50% of the times, it's worth it.

This rule took me from being a noob into being a slightly more alive noob.

The Daily Dota, Breaking Brad: Demon's Souls and Vinny's Dark Souls run are the best Giant Bomb videos.
